Do you homeschool an only child?

This was spot on! I like so much that you're intentional with socializing!

I homeschool an only child too. I take her to a learning center for only a couple of hours twice a week for "socializing", but I also follow your steps in making sure she socializes with selective kids. I personally know the families, and we get together at our local library. Also, when we encounter kids that are mean, it is a huge learning experience for us. I get to teach my kid how to react, walk away, not to judge the kid, etc. Socializing begins at home, and you're absolutely right. They only need to socialize with other kids 2 or 3 times a week as long as they get plenty of home interaction with caregivers and family members. I've seen a huge difference since I took my child out of the public system. It is a privilege to homeschool, but I am glad I left my career to do it! I love your videos and input. ❤️

Yes! Homeschooling an only has its own unique challenges. Independence is huge. With only one you already are so bonded as a pair it’s so easy to just sit with them and almost do the work for them.

Thank you for that last tip! I adore having an only child and field trips are such a blessing. It's so 'easy' to just pack up the one child and go, go, go!!

And so many opportunities to learn: you want to go to that museum? Go on in and see if they can accommodate us without a reservation! And in she went!! She's SO self sufficient like that!

I struggle with guilt. My daughter is 7 and I work full time. Thankfully, I work from home, but a lot of the time she is entertaining herself. She is in a co-op hybrid program twice a week for a few hours, and that is very helpful. We often cannot go on the field trips or join the co-op in meet ups or activities because I’m working. We do some of our school day during my lunch break, and some after work. She goes to a music class aside from co-op and participates in dance and sports. I guess I just worry that she’s lonely/bored and will resent being homeschooled. Any suggestions on how I can make the little bit of time we have for school more fun and special?
