NetGalley is the best thing that's happened to my reading life. I don't have a lot of money for new releases, but I now get approved for pretty much every book that I request so I've been lucky to read some amazing new books. And I love to review books, so that side of it doesn't feel like a chore to me. I wish I'd seen this video back at the start of my NetGalley journey!
Excellent tips not only for Net Galley but also for reviewing in general! Once a month I go on and update all of my stats including followers and views, it only takes a few minutes and let's publishers know that you're growing.
I think my favourite part of Netgalley is getting approved for a book I really want to read or a book by an author I really love. I feel quite proud when that happens! I also love sharing my reviews with the authors (if they are good) and when a particular publisher approves you after you have reviewed booked by their authors before, it makes you feel like they trust you as you said. I also dislike the one line reviews, I go all out with my reviews so when I see them I question if I go into too much detail but I enjoy writing about books so I just go with it. X
I’m quite good at keeping up with my reads recently, but I have a few from last year that just passed over my head because I completely forgot about them. I, hoping to catch up with a lot of them next month 🙃 I’d never thought to put my stats in my profile, I may have to add that!
I think I waited a year or so and reviewed my own books before going to publishers and Netgalley. Just to have a couple of reviews to show them how I do it.
I love this! I used NetGalley years ago when I first started Booktube around 2012 and I got so request happy! I stopped using it for about 5 years but I’m just recently trying to get back up and running with it. Definitely only going to be requesting ones I’m seriously interested in!
Ohhh and a personal tip I like for new users- use the read now feature! You may not have heard of many of the books, but have a browse and review them! It gives evidence that you’re interested and boosts your stats
@@thoroughlyenjoyedbooks8565 Yes, that's one of my top tips! Use the Read Now (but again only on books that you like the sound of and will read) and put up the review ASAP. To get your feedback ratio up and running.
Been reading and reviewing on NetGalley since 2015 , as well as been auto approved for some of the publishers that are on there and even been invited from some of the publishers to read and review their books though NetGalley
I just joined Netgalley. Right off the bat a book showed up on my shelf that I have NO interest in reading. Yes I must have hit a wrong button. Is there any way at all to get the book off my shelf? Delete fix of any kind?
