Thanks for this video! I would have never figured out that too much heat caused my foiling to come out looking bad or that sometimes it's just extra toner from my printer.
5:30 Yes, take your image to a copy shop. If they have a lazer printer fine, but any copy machine that uses toner will work... I use the copier at the office. 💖🌞🌵😷
I absolutely loved this video. Thank you so much for going over toner foiling again. Each time I see/hear it the more I can remember. Which foil is the blue with green. It looks like something oceany?
Okay, old person here. This video is full of information, but it seems to be coming in chunks from all over her presentation (I take notes, and when my pencil is moving all over the paper to find where the info will do the most good, then I figure the presentation isn't very organized). Still, well worth the effort for all the good information. Thank you!
Thanks for watching. Lots of videos in my toner foil playlist for you to refer back to. Usually the longer videos are live, so there is chat back and forth.
@@NancyStamps yes, I said that for the fact that it *didn’t stick to inkjet* which meant I could do toner on inkjet pieces for blocking the foil out! which has worked wonderfully so far! 🥰
Love it, but what about black paper for wedding invites? I was told by the Office Depot lady ( where I am printing the invites) NOT TO GET SUCH A THIN PAPER ( 65 lbs)... she said wedding invitations need to be around 100 lbs. 😢
Traditionally wedding invites should be thicker, unless you are trying to foil them from home. You can always print & foil in 65lb and then layer onto a thicker card base. You wouldn't just print and fold the card. Layers make it elegant. Maybe put a piece of vellum in between.
Hi. I am new to foiling. This video is amazing and clarified so many questions I had. Tx. I wonder if you can foil vellum or acetate in Minc and what setting? Can you re run a foiled image that missed black spots? Are Transfer sheet and toner sheet the same? Finally, do you think it’s possible to reuse discarded toner from a toner cartridge as powder over a Sticky stamped image and foil in Minc? Tx much.
Hi Nancy, thank you for the very informative video! I have had one question burning my brain for a very long time now. Can you do laser printer ink foiling on the printed image using an ink jet? Meaning, I print my colorful image with inkjet, then print the wording on top of that with laser jet and do foiling. I hope you understand what I'm trying to say here. Thank you.
Will any sticker sheet work for foiling?? I am trying to make a valentines card, and I dont have the right paper, but i do have sticker sheets. yellow back.
Ok well I have hundreds of videos on foiling and ripping it off when the foil hasn't bonded means you will have black spots. But you do whatever you prefer.
“Toner Foiling and Hot Foiling” wow, right there you said more then the other 20 videos I’ve watched. Who would know this? After all, I was thinking that laminators and irons are hot. So in my mind all the foils were Hot.
I have a brother b&w laser printer and successfully used toner foils on on my stickers in the past. I replaced the cartridge with a generic one when it finally ran out, and now my foiling is not working! Very hit or miss. I am using my same minc foils and same sticker paper as usual b/c I have a billion sheets amazon laminator, Printed and cut stickers with my silhouette... literally nothing different. Also, to test it I foiled some pre-purchased minc stickers I had in my stash and they were fine. Have you seen that a replacement toner has created problems for foiling?
I typically always forget to run a trial printing until I’ve already messed up several times on the good paper. I’ll have to remember to do it in the reverse order to save myself some frustration!😅
A fairly new toiler started with laminator but on your recommendation I looked for a Minc in Australia . Mini very hard to find and then needed a different plug. Spotlight had a sale so paid $169 on a mama minc . Very happy with results.
6:13-6:28: Top tip! I've had my Brother MFC-2740W printer for YEARS. When I started crafting, I bought an inkjet printer and never looked back…until yesterday, when I came home with my Minc foil applicator😊
I have a Minc machine that's several years old. I'm assuming it's still good to use for foiling. I don't know if there are newer models & whether I need to buy 1 (not really in my budget as extra $ currently goes for hubby's cancer meds.). Also my fax machine is also a laser printer so I think it's ok to use that (it's a Brother but I don't know what the dpi rating is).
Thank you for this video. I went and bought some Michaels 65 lb recollections paper today and did a test run with it. The white paper with a minc on setting 4 with H&H gold foil appears to have 98% - 99% or greater foil adhesion with some very minor black specks where it didn't foil. Overall, it seems like this type of paper is excellent for toner foiling. In your opinion, which do you think is the best for toner foiling: Hamilco 80lb, Hammermill 60lb, or Michaels 65 lb? Or are they all about the same? Thanks again.
Just to confirm the “textile” foil from HH is the correct ones right? lol nervous about buying the wrong one again 🤦🏾♀️ this video helped me sooooooo much
I found out the hard and long way that some papers do not work, I am trying to make my son and FDIL wedding invitations, I had them printed on glossy paper at the print shop, NOPE not working, I tried metalique was ok but not the best. I finally got it right using semi gloss paper and Minc foil. :) and of course my local stores do not have the gold foil, so Amazon here I come.
thank you so is there no way to print a label with a pink background and only have the letters foiled? I have a laser printer but want my labels t have a colored background and not just white.
Question: why did some of the results show dirty marks from your printer while others didn’t? The second to the last, on black paper, you stated it was from cleaning your printer and on the last, on the clear sticker paper, was clean. I’m just a little confused. Thanks for this video.
This video was filmed before they launched them. Yes I have a link for them PINK and MAIN: shareasale.com/r.cfm?b=1047151&u=2294948&m=73505&urllink=&afftrack=
I tried foiling with laser printer and deco foil and 300gsm watercolour paper card it worked in some areas but missed loads. Is it the Pepe choice do you think. I’m doing my own wedding invites ❤
Thank you, Nancy! Your videos on the subject of foiling are absolutely the best. The organization/presentation of material is logical, thorough and very clearly delivered. I will be referencing (and recommending) your videos whenever I "need to know"!
The toner being the adhesive made me think of what else could be used instead of foil, and I tried with royal gold mica powder, it works, looks beautiful, but takes four times through a basic 12" laminator, a Minc on the highest setting would probably be much better for this. it takes a very light coating, and I used a makeup brush for the powder application. With it working with mica powder, you could probably use any fine powder, there is even glitter dust that would probably work.
I tried foiling a few weeks back, and it came out a bit... grainy? chalky? When I peeled it off, the stamping looked rough. I outsourced the printing and laminating. You mentioned that thick papers tend to be porous. It was a 200gsm paper, not sure the equivalent in lbs. I wonder if the problem was with the toner, or the paper or the foil itself? Or probably the heat of the laminator. I forgot to say, there were also parts that didn't get foiled while some parts were ok. I wonder why that is?
@@NancyStamps aw, sadly, I know no one with a Minc. And it's not available in our country. I'm from SEA. I actually tried foiling again earlier before I read your reply. And yes, the problem still exists. Some parts were still not getting stamped. And a few parts with over foiling. I now have added a few more theories: 1. Maybe my design was a bit too thin. I noticed those were the ones not getting foiled. 2. When I laminate without wax paper on top, the foil clings to the laminator roller. Yikes. The thing is, if it has wax paper, the temperature tends to drop even if I had the laminator on for 30 minutes. 3. You're probably right, it's the laminator not hot enough. The max setting for the one I'm using is 200C. I wonder how else to fix these. An iron?
How reputable is Blue Bonnet. I called the number that I found for them and spoke to Violeta. I found out they are in Pharrell Texas. The only way you can order from them is through WhatsApp. When I order she said she’ll figure out my total amount. This makes me VERY uneasy. You seemed to highly recommend them.
