True, there's lots of money in the U.S. but it's mostly owned by 1% of population. Most Americans, though, a $500 emergency can put people into crippling debt that they can't get out of. Plus, the housing market is outrageous and people simply can't afford rents in cities like L.A. and New York, even working two jobs or more. That's how I understand it anyway.

I work in a school with Gen X Students. A 15yr old boy came to my office to talk. He was upset about the ban on TikTok. I tried to calm him down. Tell him we had time to fight it. Just about everything everyday citizens can unite on and agree upon -gets snuffed out in favor of corporate profits and more and more tax cuts for the uber wealthy. Our leaders are paid off.
