I loved them all, Television was so fun for the whole family, when a western was on with new people tp discover, I was so young then! From a Canadian!🥰
Richard Boone, Hugh O’Brian, Chuck Connors, William Boyd, Duncan Renaldo, Arthur Hunnicutt, Clint Walker, Claude Akins, John Russell, Morgan Woodward, Strother Martin.
Great collection! See one great omission -- no women? I'll seed this list with one -- Barbara Stanwyck (The Big Valley, Annie Oakley, Union Pacific, and many more). Also, I hear no mention of that great western, Bite the Bullet. It had several of your top 50 in it (James Coburn, Gene Hackman, Ben Johnson). Thanks again for keeping the memories alive!
That's a great list, mate. I've had to actually climb into my own personal western barrel to see if I could scrape up some hidden gems. 1 George Montgomery- The Lone Gun, Seminole Uprising, Canyon River. 2 Sterling Hayden- Kansas Pacific, Denver and Rio Grande, Shotgun 3 Anthony Quinn- Warlock, Last Train From Gun Hill, Union Pacific 4 Claude Akins- Rio Bravo, A Man Called Sledge, Return Of The Magnificent Seven 5 Jeff Chandler- The Jayhawkers, The Plunderers, Pillars Of The Sky My few add-ons, are not intended as a criticism of your efforts. Just letting you know, I understand where you're coming from. More please. Thanks very much mate.
Yes. I started with 10, then 20. Keep getting requests for more. I guess a top 100 should be coming :) The more I collect the more I realise how many more there are.
Did I miss John Russell? Not only did he star in the Lawman series, but he did a number of movies including Rio Bravo, Jubilee Trail, Pale Rider, the Outlaw Josie Wales and guest starred in a number of tv westerns.
The best western of all time, none other close : Gunfighter’s Moon, Lance Hendrickson, the second best, Young Billy Young, Robert Mitchum, the third best, Red Sundown, Rory Calhoun, fourth best, best, McKenna’s Gold, Gregory Peck, and fifth best, Shootout, Gregory Peck
Well done... there are others, but I think you hit all the main players... There is no way to name everyone because there are so many. Kurt Russell, Tom Selleck, Victor French, Jack Elam, LQ Jones and many others could just as easily have made this list...
Great list. I was actually waiting for Anthony Quinn. How about A list of best supporting actors that are not listed yet at all like Christopher George, Paul Fix, RG Armstrong, LQ Jones?
Greatest Western high noon, best television series Bonanza in Color have gun Will travel black and white Western television series great movies that should be added to the top 10 the proud ones Robert Ryan, no name on the bullet Audie Murphy, the quiet gun Forrest Tucker, 1957 17:45 17:45 17:45 17:45
When you talk about western, you have to give time period and define what top or best or whatever criteria you are using, Because guys like Charles King and Al Fuzzy st John were in hundreds of westerns each, Tom Mix was in 291 movies. Such a huge topic
As I put on the top 10 list. John Smith and Robert Fuller. All so James Garner. Yep, you need a list of 50 western actors maybe even 100. Roy Rogers, Jay Silverheels Besides the Lone Ranger how many more shows and movies was he in.?. A true Canadian Indian.
