He's said in interviews a number of times that he likes to create a fight on stage, find a struggle to make the music better, more real. I feel like this clip really shows that. You can see the band around him straining to make it work, and him really pushing the envelope and following the song in weird directions. It's not predictable but all about intuition and will. So alive and cool.
The night Jack White melted my soul on the What Stage. Who fucking knew he would be this fucking amazing? My God... The best performance of my seven years of Bonnaroo, easily...
The White Stripes were fantastic, but I feel like they were really just practice for Jack to unleash his full creativeness. I absolutely love his live albums, and concerts. He really has come a long way.
I'm 50 years old and not getting any younger and I want to like Jack's music so much I've even prayed to God to like it but unfortunately just won't be another White Stripes and I want a reunion so bad and was looking for one when the greatest hits came out that's how it all starts but I guess that's the point he's moved on but I have to stick with the Stripes that's all that I enjoy so far anyway and before anybody jumps on me hell fucking yes he is an amazing musician ✌️
Right?. from the word go. I was just playing early bar stuff off RU-vid for girlfriend. She didn't understand my saying I think he's the baddest rock and roller to come out of here (US) in over 25 years or more. You see him as a young man.. 20's.. with a swagger and control of his stage and his material that is just amazing at that age. I don't know how you could have been at one of those bars and walked into a young stripes gig and not come away thinking.." wow.. that kid is something special." Hrs like a cross between Little Richard.. Jerry Lee Lewis.. And Jimmy f'ing Page. A true one off that cat is. Genius. Early 20s rocking like a mother f'er.. with just him and a spotty Meg. The early stuff blows my mind.
No full version of this? cause it was obvious some mishaps were happening. mainly the harmonica guy, he was not feeling it so much that jack ha to take over & start a freestlye an finish it off with "feel it feel it right" to get the back back in groove! master. i want to see how it finish!!!
tomb613 it was taken place at Bonnaroo June 14th, 2014. He released a Vault version of the performance of the whole show on vinyl and came with a DVD of the show. One of my favorite items I own. Whole show is fantastic.
the quality of his shows sure dropped since early stripes days. he gave everything he got to give in those days. but hes an established musician. thats what happens. still the man pushing music to the frontier.
You think? I've seen him twice in recent years and I've watched more concert footage than I'm willing to admit, and I think he sure puts himself into it still
Yeah, I get worried sometimes. He's progressing a lot like Elvis did before he died. I think he's starting to play with drugs whether he denies it or not and he's gaining some weight too if you see him in his interview recently about Third Man Records.
Yeah, I don't mean the man any ill will I mean he's been my favorite musician since I was an 11 year old kid but you have to wonder sometimes what's going on and if it's just him getting older. :(
Guilmon470 yeah, he hasn't looked to good lately, maybe the smoking drinking and red bull is getting to him. But he's a crazy man who lived a crazy life, what you expect.
