Thanks for watching! We had the pleasure of collaborating with Diana Tsoy to create a live-action fight concept inspired by 'Avatar: The Last Airbender'
This project was an exciting challenge, combining elements of earthbending with hand-to-hand combat to showcase Diana's multitude of skills.

That's not mantis style, those moves are from Hun-gar which is what every other earthbender use. She should be using Southern mantis like Toph uses in the animated series.

This would be perfect. The issue is that this was filmed nearly a year ago and by the time they get around to season 2, she would be much older. It’s possible Netflix will have their age played into the story and if that’s the case, she’s my top pick for Toph!

@@jordanharris4164they just said recently that they had to scrap the idea that the entire series takes place in a single year like the original show due to the cast aging. They also said things like sozins comet wouldn’t have a definitive time of arrival until they get closer to it because of this change as well. So more than likely casting her as top would be fine

Puberty is a huge boost for human's growth and development sadly.. 😢 Even just 1 year in your teenage time, it matters a lot. You can grow like 5cms in that 1 year. And also the voice getting heavier. The way you talk also gonna be different

The way she just plants her heel at 00:09 tells me you completely understand her character and fighting style. The way she moved that one guy into the other man's attack was perfect for her! Very well done, the actors sold the choregraphy, and you absolutely get the sense that Toph is listening and waiting for each opening.

The actor was perfect - unfortunately though, so much of that comes down to direction and editing. It wasn’t just the actor who understood the character, it was the whole team. Netflix could (and should) cast this kid, but they could still mess it up with bad writing, or directing, or choreo, or editing

The movie wasn't bad. It wasn't supposed to be a COVER; EXACT REPLICA. And when they didn't finish up with other movies that should have followed, was a HUGE disappointment to A LOT of people who enjoyed the movie.

Damn. If Netflix doesn't do her justice at least as good as this, imma be upset. One critique though is a few of her movements seemed to not have been doing anything in particular. That's not how Toph earthbent in the animated series, every single move of hers was purposeful and useful, she didn't waste a single bit of energy.

Tbh that's how she earthbend, earth is a stubborn element so preparation before attack is always a must, remember also she's blind W a unique bending style so the element won't respond immediately. I think it was perfect The ONLY critique I found was the CGI which tbh isn't even bad. I got chills watching lol

She’s got the perfect attitude , sound, AND look. I’m not 100% sold on the hand to hand. Not that it wasn’t done absolutely great but Toph in the show never really went hand to hand like that. Not unless she had earth or metal around her hands so that she could bend it to give her blows way more power. So if you had done that here I’d honestly have 0 complaints whatsoever. Absolutely amazing how well she fits the character😁

@@NexusEntertainmentStudios It's not really their idea. In the original show, Toph encased herself in a sheet of metal and used it as body armor to go toe-to-toe with several firebenders. She was even able to levitate the metal body suit with herself still inside it and use it to crawl along the ceiling of the room she was fighting in to reposition herself for a final confrontation. So she does fight hand-to-hand, just with earth or metal around her hands to protect herself and lend more power to her blows.

I understand Earth Bending is based on the Hung Gar Style, and Toph uses it from time to time. However her Earth Bending is based on Chu/Chow Gar Praying Mantis.

As someone who grew up on this show as it originally aired Toph has been one of my favorite fictional characters EVER for my entire life, this was PHENOMENAL 😭🙌 you nailed everything PERFECTLY from the personality to the bending abilities and style. I LOVED how you guys incorporated H2H close quarters attacks INTO the bending sequences! When she grabbed that dude and pulled him into the rising pillar it was SO EPIC. I’d love to see more H2H stuff like that incorporated into these bending fights because It makes it so dynamic and creative! 🙏🏻🙌 can’t wait is we what else this team is capable of

hahaha she made me chuckle at the end. I genuinely hope they cast you/her as Toph for the live-action!! :) She really nailed down all the (little) details that make Toph so unique. Very convincing as a blind person, focusing her hearing and feeling and all that. Although, if they cast her, I hope she can act as good as she can fight.. Idk how much they'll go into back stories, but before being this sassy and confident, she was also a helpless, innocent, scared lil gurl, before learning to bend. (I hope they include that in the live-action) She sure seems like she can!

I really love the choreography and how you handled Tophs earthbending. It’s never as simple as ‘oh hey, throw a huge rock at the bad guys’ It’s more like she’s subtly shifting her opponents into advantageous positions. As if she’s phycically telling both her opponents and the earth ‘no! I don’t move! You move!’

love the girl too, has that raw savage look on her face, how I would imagine Toph while in her zone. An unapologetic merciless force of nature. Shout out to the terra team for taking the beating from a blind litte girl!

the fighting scene in 1:11 where toph utilize her earth bending in close combat really amazing, it shows us how an earth bender should fight in hand to hand combat while utilizing their earth bending ability. not just throwing rocks or blocking attacks. Amazing job also for the bad guys!
