Artists from across the nation, both seasoned and novice, converge on iconic locations to capture their essence on canvas. Amidst the backdrop of wildlife, historic edifices, and landmarks, they race against time, vying for the approval of discerning judges. While episode winners progress to subsequent rounds, up to 50 wildcard artists per location also hope to dazzle the judges. Their aim? A coveted spot in the grand final and the title of Landscape Artist of the Year.

sorry, but I feel like her art could be done by any student. It's just not up to the level of the other artists they eliminated. It's frustrating that they keep choosing the kitschy artists, rather than those who've spent years or decades perfecting an art.

I liked the work of both of the women artists. I personally liked the art of the woman who did not win best... I liked her play of light and color rather than the faded colors of the winner. Thomas's commission work was not bad...

A great series. I love the topiary, perfect setting. I preferred Aphseen's most, with her colour and light. Alicia is good but just too grey and misty in all her works. Still it's up to the judges, and I often disagree with them from the other series as well. that's our separate tastes after all.

I loved all of the finalists and don't think any one was more deserving than another. Tough decision for the judges. What I loved most about this heat was how the artists really stepped back to analyze the landscape before applying paint. This was an amazing series! Thank you so much for posting.

All three painters are very talented. For me the winner should be Thomas! He’s painting are just extraordinary, I like so much the big building.

The winner is capable of rising to new heights. The other lady did the best work of the day. Probably the most interesting and unpredictable of the three is Thomas.

When they first walked in, Thomas McGregor's painting got the big Wow! But when they started rationalizing the paintings, the compositions & styles for some reason she won. Her paintings were small, and too gray, murky and hazy I thought.

I really enjoyed all three of Them and in a way its kind of a Strange game to choose a 1.2.3 -- but of cause that is a mirror of our “normal” way of getting som kind of order in all the different impressions we get. But in a way I Think that a winner with three very different and all very interesting examples in their own ways shows us the important rolle of Art …. Its not so much about hierarchies …its about possibilities and a looking with a multidimensional sensitivity - and working and experimenting from body-heart-mind 🎶💜🎵

Love seeing all the conflicting comments. Art contests are weird in that art is not a competition. If it was, after thousands of years of producing art, we'd have a winner by now. Who's the best artist? Michelangelo? Leonardo? Donatello? I prefer Dali and he isn't even a Ninja Turtle. That being said I love this show and it's sister program Portrait Artist of the Year. It's just amazing to watch the different approaches to self-expression.

Were there 2 episodes each at the Eden Project and Compton Vernee?.... Because Thomas and Elisha's both won their heat at the Eden Project, but Thomas's group did not have any biodomes in their vision, yet the wildcard group did...and the Compton Vernee had one episode focussing on the bridge and the also one with buildings in the background as well as the bridge

I admire William Turner and I learned about his history but I know people didn't understand him when he advanced in his art but loved everything he did. But I get it I think Alesha is a Turner artist I think she is a little corky but she has a special eye .

This show needs to have a guest judge to give variety, so the three current judges can rotate and we can benefit from some new perspectives.

That's her style. Nothing wrong with having a distinctive style and paint everything like that. Most artists have it. Maybe she has some other styles too when she's using other media or subject, we can't know that based on this show.

What about when you mess it up by not including Desmond's work. What a fairly flat piece of landscape to paint. No depth to work with. They keep picking weird subjects. Hope they brought their green paint. The competition will be between the ladies in my opinion. Alesia is on top so far, but I would be ok with either. I want to try to create the misty quality she negotiates in her work.

I wonder what the judges see sometimes. I have noticed they tend to make up all this guff about stuff that they think has hidden depths when in fact it is just pretty average, They remind me of the courtiers of the Emperor with his New Clothes. 'Isn't it ooh, isn't ahh, isn't absolutely whee?' And I am sat here thinking 'No it''s a not very talented amateur. We all know without even seeing it what the poor commissioners are going to get! If I had to do a 3, 2, 1 this would have been 3rd. I know a lot is personal taste, but I think that this show is often more about the judges promoting themselves than the actual art. What the bloke said about Ainesha's work was pretty dumb. 'She has only put parts ' Well yes, that is the idea, and it worked for me. I knew what I was looking at, even if I had never been there. Alicia's was a fuzzy mess, which gave me no clue. The commissioned pieces were the same. Thomas' had 'too much sky. They look like chess pieces' Hellooo? Maybe that was the point? They Do look like game pieces Some even have chess piece names?

Man sometimes I'm surprised by the artists that get into the finals. I have to question these judges, after the wild card artists. And we got blurry art, kid park art, and the lively tnisha, who was overlooked. I'm shocked very disappointing result... Get it together judges, this was boring !!!!
