Excellent. I am curious as to how you animated the material removal during topology optimisation. Which software was used? This is incredible work

You can export data to eg Paraview. Herein you can simply apply a filter and threshold the design variables (for example only show x > 0.8) to obtain a representation of the design

Everything was created in beautiful and most effective way. Why! Because the creator is The Affectionate and have the knowledge of all things. He gave us physics to show us how hard and beautiful his creation is, So we love him for giving us all of it.

Those ripples propagating through the iterations - is it trying to shake itself out of a local optimum?

Looks like it. However, from experience, I guess some constraint is not satisfied later in the process, which causes some abrupt design changes. The gradient-based optimization algorithm does not include any "feature" to leave a local optimum. It is unaware of this. However, if the local optimum is sensitive to a small design change this behavior can be caused.

Mind the pseudo-hinges there mate Edit: or include them, I've literally no idea. Also, this is why I think globular proteins are reservoir computers.

Why does this look like the claw of a crab. Did Mother Nature use topology optimisation itself?

If you think about it, yes! Although not using the same method, natural selection shapes the bodies of animals, so that they are most durable, while still flexing at the right places
