Hey guys! In this video I show you how I fixed the topology of my friend ‪@ArijanRace‬. He asked me to turn his tank into a perfect all quads SubD model so I thaught it would be interesting to show you my process on one single part.

Can you please turn on the key cast feature so that we can see which buttons/ keys you were pressed.

I can't turn on screencast keys because I made my own customized hotkeys. But in the future videos i'll tell the default shortcuts

I think quad Remesher would really shine in this particular scenario

Of course ! But the main goal is to know how to do it by hand, since not everyone can buy quad remesher because of it's price :)

oh the Prototype Tank I saw it in a paid news article but the view content was limited .. I cant figure it out exacly what timeframe and company produced it... Looks so cool like 40 OOOk tank... I think its a german type of prototype StKt dev. time maybe 60's... p.s.by the way good showcase of skill & tools..as always...

sorry for dumb question, Im newbie. after watching this I've come up with question. is it better to have tris than ngons? is there any reason behind it, why ngons are so bad?

1) Ngons can cause issues with smoothing and subdivision, 2) Tris and quads provide a clearer and more predictable edge flow 3) Texturing a model can be more straightforward with tris or quads, as ngons can stretch textures unevenly across their faces, causing distortion. 4) Some 3D applications and game engines optimize better for models composed of triangles or quads. 5) Tris and quads are easier to manipulate and edit than ngons.

It is like in the FEA analysis... I spent more time to get the "perfect" mesh, than the actual calculation :D

Hey man, I don't enable screencast keys because i'm not using the default shortcuts. I was originally a Maya user so I made custom hotkeys. That's why I add quicktips in my videos with the good shortcuts

Yes there is another way. You can create a plane with squared polygons, then select all the faces, press X, select "only faces", go to object > convert > curves. And after you can use knife project :) It just takes more time ! You can join my discord and I will show you :)

@@ThomasColin3D Merci, je vais réfléchir tout de même car HardHops a vraiment l'air worth. Très bon tuto, j'essaye de m'améliorer au niveau de la topologie car certains modeles bug lorsque tu ne les fais pas correctement (une moto par exemple) ou bien même les UVs commencent a bégayer et la texture se place mal.
