@xkillswitchx23 I saw your comment and thought I'd share some tips with you. Depending on what time of year you go. In the Spring I would use 12 to 15 lb. test on the reel with a 50 lb. shock leader, The 50 lb. leader really helps and takes a beating with teeth shred and I have used the same leader for at least 3 blitz's. In the Fall I use a minimum of 15 lb. test on the rell again using a 50lb. leader. This works for very well for Gator Blues or Fat Fall Stripers. Good Luck & Tight Lines to ya!
@xkillswitchx23 u can't user braid for a leader !!! first u'll get the mother of all tangles in ur line 2nd it's visible so the fish would shy away !! use fluorocarbon for leader and this 25lb mono is more than enough to be honest, u just when u hook a big fish don't tighten the drag on the reel so much, tire the fish out and then u'll eventually will drag it out of the water. it's all about knowing the limits of ur set. Cheers
What pound test do you use? Me and my dad only get to go blue fishing one week a year so i wanna know if 12 pound mono with a 25 pound braid leader would be good for landing fish this big (or even bigger) Please reply
