Great vid. I have walked/driven past that area hundreds of times and never would have thought to fish for salmon... most people head further west for harder work in the surf for smaller fish!

Awsome Alex! I remember years ago fishing around that same area, an older gentleman approched us and suggest we try somewhere else as the water wasnt deep and there was lots of weed.....neck minut.......kilo plus salmon. I remember him saying " well I never"...

To be honest the do have slightly different colours.. I’m there now ;) What I read is they are the same family but... the salmon have one more spine in their dorsal so not exact same species. But yer similar. I prefer calling them Ky. The guys over here piss them selves when I have to explain the diff between St and salmon haha

Seen Kahawai my whole life back home, been fishing for "salmon" here in adelaide for a couple weeks and got about 40 - 50 all up, same fish..... I mean fush! Salmon trout are just juvenile kahawai

Great video im loving your videos. I live in metro Adelaide and want to get out and do some of the stuff you are. Just wondering what type of set-up you are running in this video and what would be a approx cost? And would this set-up be fine for surf fishing for salmon or would I need some heavier gear or bigger rod??

Cheers Wade! Means a lot. This set up would cost around $500 full price I reckon. But got them second hand. It is a finesse combo, so probably not ideal for surf fishing. Try looking for a graphite rod between 9-11ft. That size is good for a salmom surf rod 👌
