Hey Joe! Met you at the Tinley park Illinois show and you signed a top water lure I bought for luck. Still waiting for the first catch but I can’t believe how many strikes this topraider has gotten. Only a portion of the signature is left do to the skie teeth. Thanks for the video 🎣.

I replace the front hook on my top water baits with a red treble hook (same size). This some how directs the muskies attention to strike the front of the bait, with fewer short strikes.

T H A N K Y O U for not only mentioning sharpening lure hooks but repeating and emphasizing that point. I can't tell you how many very good anglers skip that most important advice on their channels. I just returned from a nice after work trip to a local small lake. I had a bass swipe at my S-Waver 168 and because the hooks were made extra sticky before casting, that bass stuck [ and stayed stuck] to the lure all the way back on a hot retrieve. The lure never made it into her mouth. First time watching your videos, very nice.

Well... if I'm being honest it depends on some stuff. Sometimes it takes you a week to just see a fish, much less catch one. Sometimes you can catch one in fifteen minutes.

It depends VERY much on location. It will be the difference between 10,000 casts or a couple hundred. Once you have a good grip on the basics like casting, retrieving, hookset, landing, lure selection, time of year, weather, lunar movements, fishing pressure..etc... Above all else understand the exact body of water you're fishing. Every single body of water is it's own thing. If you're serious and want to know more just ask

I caught 3 in a day in the middle of July this year and ended up with 7 at the end of the week it all depends on what lake you fish I just had a 2 fish day as well and it’s august

Why do you use such high text line? Wouldn’t something around 40-50;lb work.

gerard haubert Actually, skilled anglers can catch em on light tackle including lines as light as 8# test. With that being said, the line test: strength is honestly all about the lures and tactics used. The heavy weight lures demand higher pound test ranges to withstand the sheer cast after cast abrasion. The larger gauge lines also aid in keeping lures purposely shallower.

Exotic Creations I prefer 100 pound flourocarbon leaders as they are invisible on the water for the most part and they don't kink like metal leaders do

Steve Owens very true. I don't fish for musky. I catch them by mistake. Last summer I got a 50 in on my baitcaster, 12lb braid, no leader. I was trolling for walleye. I'm going to start targeting them this though. I will use a leader.

If you're fishing with 80lb braid you can get away with no leader. It's a trade off. I prefer a direct tie for better lure action and lower profile at the possible expense of a cut line but it hasn't happened yet
