Thanks Ant! At the time that was my biggest pike by a long shot, took a good while to top it too. Was very lucky to get such clear footage of it cruising around in the shallows! Thanks for watching and I appreciate the comment 👍
@@adventurefishinguk no worries mate. I have yet to catch my first Pike, I was hoping it was gonna be caught this winter but it didn't happen. I'm still hopeful when we head to Scotland again in a couple of weeks so fingers crossed. I look forward to watching the rest of your content pal
@@adventurefishinguk yeah I enjoy fishing mate, I'm very new to it so don't have much experience especially in fresh water. There's so many outdoor hobbies I love, just not enough free time lol
Brilliant George, absolute Croc mate and also huge congratulations on making 2k, huge achievement and well deserved. Keep up the top work dude. Tite Lines G 🐊🐊👍🎣
Another great watch! And I still have plenty to catch up with! As a fairly new angler to predatory fish I’d like to see a “how to handle pike” video from you if poss??!
Awsome. Had my PB canal pike in november on a 10cm handmade swimbait. 18.2 and 96 cm long. Great film. (Found you on SG homepage and decided to subscribe. Keep it up pal
Thanks mate! I've always wanted to have a go making a lure to catch a pike on but they're difficult enough as it is on my local stretch 😂 Don't have much of a talent for woodwork either! I recognise your name from the Facebook lure fishing groups, thanks for subscribing I appreciate it!
Great video and great to see that rod used as I have just ordered one today, already got the X5 Max but wanted a slightly different rod, depending on what I was targeting. Hoping to fish the stretch near the Westmoreland Show Ground as well next year when I'm there for a Scout Camp
Thanks mate i appreciate that! You should definitely pick up the rod they're excellent value for money. Don't forget to use code AFUK10 for 10% off at checkout
Congrats. ! You a wery , wery lucky Man ... You know , made lots of mistakes and sylliness with landing net ... but finally got it ! Nice "crocodile" ...😉👍 Wish You much bigger next time !🐟
Great fish buddy !! Must be one of the last crocs from that stretch of the canal. Used to be a few knocking about round there, now it's just mainly jacks, so very well done.
That is a belting croc George mate. Nice bit of determined stalking that was and what a cracking reward. Shame it wasn't weighed. But she looked a heavy one. 👌👌👌
That is a hell of a pike from a canal. You were lucky to land that but bloody well done mate. I've had 5 to 7 pounders on river shake me off when you think they are beaten. I'd estimate it's weight at about 15lbs which is huge for a canal. Brilliant. When a pike is that big they are female. Anything over 10lbs is almost defo a girl!
Thanks mate! I think it was less than 15 pound, I reckon closer to 10/11. Was quite long but not the chunkiest off fish. But yeah a great fish for the canal nonetheless! Still yet to have a river pike, hopefully this year 🤞
Thank you! It’s not that clear anymore 😂 after a dry spell it gets like that but it’s been chucking it down lately! Thanks for the comment and I’m glad you enjoyed the video
Is this the stretch that had grass carp put in? I heard they was all wiped out by otters but I still think there’s some in there would be good to see one come out if you fancy targeting them
Yeah it is i heard of someone catching one many years ago, it was an absolute monster. I assume they’re few and very far between, would probably take someone with a lot of carp fishing experience to be able to catch one
What a fight, what a video, what a fish and what a lovely lady Alison is! cracking fishing, you've been after that for so long!!! doth my hat and bloody awesome!!
Haha thank you! Been a long time coming I’m over the moon with it, we’ve fished together on that stretch too it’s usually tough to get a 5 out of there
What an adrenaline rush watching that footage 😎 what a Pike that was 👍💯. You should really invest in a strong large net fella, Savage Gear do a lightweight folding one that's a solid design and will fit 20lb Pike inside with ease. Did you not weigh the fish then? Looked a solid 18-20lbs fish though 👌 👏
I didn't weigh this one mate no, i reckoned at the time it was about 11, maybe bigger though! When I caught a 14 the other day this one definitely felt smaller from what I remember. Glad you enjoyed the video, definitely an adrenaline fuelled fishing trip!
Hi bud just see you wicked giveaway, you have a good channel here loads of content and it's my day off today so I'm gonna sit here and watch as many as I can lol
Nice one, don't think you're too fa from me, stumbled across your vids as I'm hoping to get back into some fishing and that canal is my local, hoping to do some predator fishing once I've picked up enough knowledge. Cheers, new sub :)
Thanks for subscribing mate I really appreciate it! Yeah that stretch of canal is a good place to start for sure. Let me know if you need any advice on getting started!
@@adventurefishinguk Thank you very much for the kind offer. I was thinking of an Abu Garcia 5-20g 1.83m rod with a 2000 size reel. Do you think this would be suitable for some Perch. So much choice it's a bit overwhelming. Thanks
@@mikefoley360 If thats something you've already got it would work. Better options out there for a perch rod though! Personally i prefer fishing light with smaller lures. The 5-20g rod might struggle to throw microjigs and small spinners that only weigh 1-2 grams. For the bigger lures that would work though and yeah a size 2000 reel is perfect for perch
I’ve never weighed a pike that big so I wouldn’t know! If I had to guess I’d say 11-12 but could well have been a couple more. Heart was well and truly racing haha hope you enjoyed the video
Thanks mate I really appreciate the support! You'll have great fun with the snake it really gets the adrenaline going, might be a bit late in the year for topwater fishing though unless we get a warm spell!
