@@9s9asous Allah has decreed that the Qur'an will be protected from distortion no matter what. We can do causes to protect the Qur'an, but it is not on us to preserve it. Allah promised He would take care of that. Also, memorizing the Qur'an is not enough to prevent distorting it because the meanings and implications are too vast and deep. Only careful people with exhaustive knowledge of the Qur'an and pure hearts can avoid distorting it or reducing its scope to the "literal" meanings only

Absolutely competition. I actually find Quran to be quite ugly because Arabic in general is an ugly language and for some reason every recitation I’ve heard the reciter sounds nasally which is annoying. Christian chants when done correctly is the most bone chilling beautiful thing I’ve ever heard.
