So much great information! Thank you for this🔔❤️🔔 I see Eden imagery everywhere here. So cool that This constant conflict of the nations is girded by the “Loyal Love of God Our Shepherd” who wants us back into the garden mountain❤️
It's so deep! Thank you! Extremely inspiring. Now I understand much better why victorious from Rev 15 will sing that song. It gave me a lot to think about.
Thanks Carmen, I really enjoeyd hearing your insights. I was wondering if your BBR artcle on Miriam and the Song of the Sea has been publsihed yet. I'll love to have a r for my assigment.
No human being can see the face of the I Am without dying. Moses, and many others, experienced it. There were curtains and separation walls. Today we have no curtains or separation walls. But we cannot behold all the glorious power of God as long as we live. I wonder what it is like to be with all the glory of God, I don't think there are words to explain it.
Regarding that mountain in Ugarit Zafon. Is the implication that 1) God defeated the Canaanite gods as in a past tense event that happened during the defeat of pharaoh; or that 2) the defeat of the Canaanite gods will be an implication (part of that ripple effect) that hasn't yet taken place? Thanks in advance if you get a chance to respond.
I would think that the defeat of Pharaoh happened at the Sea, and the defeat of Canaanite gods will happen with the conquest of Canaan, as the Israelite army smashes idols, sacred poles, and altars--"wiping out their names from that place" (see Exodus 23, Deuteronomy 7:1-6; 12:1-3).
Another great video. Question. Hesed refers (as you know) to covenant faithfulness. However, they haven’t yet made a covenant yet with YHWH, other than the one made with Abraham. We can say that this is the hand of an editor later, or we can say that they had come to know more about Abraham’s covenant with YHWH, or that they had passed down oral tradition about Abraham. This sort of anticipates the covenant to come? Some comments on that would be appreciated. Maybe I am taking my understanding of hesed too far.
Yes, I like Adam's response. But I would also say that the covenant at Sinai is not new, but an extension of the covenant with Abraham to the entire nation. So God could already be faithful to the promises made to Abraham. Exodus says several times that his promises to Abraham are what motivated God's response to Israel's cry for help.
@@adamivthropay2982 I used chatgpt to look up all uses of Hesed, and can see that you are definitely right. 1 Samuel 15:6 there is a use and it has nothing to do with any covenant at all.
@@adamivthropay2982 I used Chatgpt to look up all uses of hesed, and found that this is absolutely the case. It's not just limited to covenants for sure.
@@CarmenJoyImesPhD perhaps the idea of hesed is more along the lines of "loyalty" than it is covenant faithfulness (1 Samuel 15:6 among other examples) as well. Also, judging by the song's idea of already conquering Canaan, we can see the Israelites had already formulated their theology, even though they are a new nation. It does make me wonder though how much they had forgotten about during their time in Egypt about their patriarchs, and how much Moses during his time as their leader had transmitted. Thanks for your reply!
