Contrary to the lies and distortions against Islam by the establishment media and now by the so called "alternative media" as well, Islam is NOT a new religion. In fact, Jesus and all the other Prophets in the Bible were Muslims. Here's the proof… 1. Islam = Submission/Peace. 2. Muslim = One who submits to God peacefully. 3. Prostration = The ultimate way to submit to your Creator. 4. Muslims Prostrate by placing their heads on the ground to worship God. So how did Jesus and all the other Prophets prayed to their Lord in the Bible? Let’s take a look... 5. Jesus Matthews 26:39 39 "Going a little farther, he fell with his face to the ground and prayed" 6. Abraham Genesis 17:3 3 "And Abraham fell on his face: and God talked with him." 7. David 1 Samuel 20:41 41 “David got up from the south side of the stone and bowed down before Jonathan three times, with his face to the ground.” 8. Moses and Aaron Numbers 20:6 6 "...they fell upon their faces: and the glory of the Lord appeared unto them." 9. Joshua Joshua 7:6 6 “Then Joshua tore his clothes and fell facedown to the ground before the ark of the Lord, remaining there till evening. The elders of Israel did the same, and sprinkled dust on their heads.” 10. Solomon 2 Chronicles 7:3 3 "When all the Israelites saw the fire coming down and the glory of the Lord above the temple, they knelt on the pavement with their faces to the ground, and they worshiped and gave thanks to the Lord, saying, ‘He is good; his love endures forever.” 11. Ezra Nehemiah 8:6 6 "Ezra praised the Lord, the great God; and all the people lifted their hands and responded, “Amen! Amen!” Then they bowed down and worshiped the Lord with their faces to the ground." 12. Revelation 7:11 11 "All the angels were standing around the throne and around the elders and the four living creatures. They fell down on their faces before the throne and worshiped God." Muslims are just continuing what all the previous Prophets and Messengers in the scriptures did by submitting to Allah only. May Allah continue to have MERCY us, continue to PROTECT us, continue to FORGIVE us, continue to GUIDE us, and continue to BLESS us.

Christians Jesus and Muslims Muhammad is not comparable as in Muslims view Jesus as a prophet n Christians turned him into a God. in simple words Muhammad is to Muslims Like Moses is to Jews...the Lawgiver...warner...prophet...but a man not divine. God dictated to Moses and he wrote it down...as Mr. Wolpe said ...same as Archangel Gabriel dictated to Muhammad on God's command n he recited to people which was later wrote down in parchments or slates in his lifetime and as book after him....the stories are different coz in old testament, in few places there r lewd descriptions of acts done by prophets which any sensible person would reject as unthinkable to b carried out by a holy person ...Quran was sent to correct those misconceptions and add new laws for societal and political conduct as none of Moses and Jesus was able to establish as a state person. apologies for my broken english as its not my 1st language.

It's not hard to when the New testament is a story of one of our people and it contradicts G-d's very words Islam is a faith with STRONG rules and faiths to G-d Your Pope and deemed hell not a thing, than 2 years later gave approval of gay marriage, two VERY things G-d said NO NO NO too.. Islam and jusism have rules and we follow them per G-d's demand not request Christians kind of just make things up or change the story line as it see's fit Odd how the New Testament is 30% foot notes and updates....isn't it?
@zacharymulford4172
@zacharymulford4172 Год назад
@@EndlessTravels you're confusing what the NT teaches with what Catholics do. I agree that the Bible doesn't teach what Catholics teach/practice but that doesn't prove anything is wrong with the Bible. I'm not sure I follow on your 30% footnotes/updates comment. If you're referring to the footnotes from something like a study bible, those are just commentary notes, no Christian views those as the Word of God. There are many Jewish writings that act as commentary on the OT, like the Talmud, I wouldn't say that means the OT is somehow wrong. The commentary can be wrong. Not all Bibles are good translations with good footnotes but you can learn Hebrew and Greek and read it in its original language for yourself. Just because even some good translations have updates doesn't prove there is something wrong with the original. A good translation is anything that effectively/accurately communicates the original to its audience. As language changes translations need updating but the original stays the same. You're right that the NT is about a Jewish man. It was written by Jewish men (except maybe Luke/Acts). It is a very Jewish collection of writtings and beautifully fulfills, and is consistent with, the OT. I'd encourage you to study it for yourself to be certain. No offense but it seems like you're not famailiar with NT, if you read it you will see the Catholics aren't very famailiar with it either.

Great talk. A few notes to add to some points David made. 1. David said God was never on the earth, Christians believe that God was. God's spirit did come to earth upon creation, in the old testament over the waters when the earth was without form and void, and in the garden of eden. 2. After Adam and Eve ate from the forbidden tree in the garden, Adam and Eve "heard the sound of the Lord God walking", indicating that God was indeed on earth and in the garden with them. 3. David says he doesn't like what Jesus said "leave your father and mother and follow me", David does not like that as a religious model. In Genesis 2 verse 24 it's written "Therefore a man shall leave his father and his mother and hold fast to his wife, and they shall become one flesh". Jesus repeated this statement in the new testament.

Islam does not say that it is a new religion. Islam says that it came as a continuation of what came before it, that the message has been the same since the time of Adam. The Torah and Gospel, like other holy books before them, were altered by man, and various versions existed over time. Muhammad was sent with the Quran to reaffirm and correct what came before it.

But there are also theories that there used to be many versions of Quran and different lesser books but some political Islamic powerhouse came to decide what stays together in one book as while other records were burnt. So the idea that the book came wholly to the prophet is a bit flawed because a lot were also written into the account of accepted Quran that was just reports from people who lived close to the prophet

@@olaboyeolanrewaju134 Those different "versions" are the personal manuscripts of the people who came forth to confirm and convene on the Quran as revealed to them via the prophet. Often, personal manuscripts are incomplete, containing scribal errors, or contain footnotes and commentaries to explain certain passages as the prophet would also provide explanations sometimes. To prevent these non-Quranic entries from remaining, these copies were burnt. So in reality, these different "versions" didn't contain radically different or contradictory passages. The revelation was recited verbatim as it was received, not through writing. The physical book is only a record of the oral tradition which has been the primary mode of transmission since the beginning.

The earliest manuscript bearing the title "according to Matthew" is very likely P64/67 (these fragments are usually considered part of the same original manuscript). This manuscript is typically dated to around AD 175. The earliest statement that is 100% unambiguous on this matter comes from Irenaeus of Lyons, writing approx. AD 180. The Quran has a very important distinction in the Torah part. The fall of man in the Quran is not a punishment by God, nor is it Eve's fault, or are women condemned to suffer in childbirth as a result. The Quran also does not have 'thou shalt not suffer a witch to live' nor does it mention masturbation. These are key differences re the misogynistic themes of Christianity. Also I'd wager the Quran was very concerned with how Christianity got Jesus wrong (THE son of God myth and splitting God into the trinity) than anything the Jews were doing.

The New Testament has plenty of firsthand accounts written by people who personally knew Jesus. His comment at 3:54 is so wrong that I cannot trust his other comments to be accurate. Nonsense the New Testament was written way after Jesus death. You have to state evidence. The New Testament was written around 80-100 AD, although some scholars date it significantly later, and there is evidence that it was still being substantially revised well into the 2nd century. Even more telling is that Jesus and most of those 12 disciples spoke Aramaic and Mishnaic Hebrew. The New Testament was written in Koine Greek.

When holy men of God write or speak by the power of the Holy Ghost, their words “shall be scripture, shall be the will of the Lord, shall be the mind of the Lord, shall be the word of the Lord, shall be the voice of the Lord, and the power of God unto salvation” (Doctrine and Covenants 68:4). The official, canonized scriptures of the Church, often called the standard works, are the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. The principal purpose of scriptures is to testify of Christ and to guide the children of God so they can come unto Him and receive eternal life (see John 5:39; 20:31; 1 Nephi 6:4; Mosiah 13:33-35). The Book of Mormon prophet Mormon taught: “Whosoever will may lay hold upon the word of God, which is quick and powerful, which shall divide asunder all the cunning and the snares and the wiles of the devil, and lead the man of Christ in a strait and narrow course across that everlasting gulf of misery which is prepared to engulf the wicked- “And land their souls, yea, their immortal souls, at the right hand of God in the kingdom of heaven, to sit down with Abraham, and Isaac, and with Jacob, and with all our holy fathers, to go no more out” (Helaman 3:29-30). God, who is the same “yesterday, today, and forever” (2 Nephi 29:9), continues to reveal scripture in modern times as He did in ancient times. Latter-day prophets counsel people everywhere to study the scriptures daily, including the Bible, the Book of Mormon, the Doctrine and Covenants, and the Pearl of Great Price. They encourage individual and family scripture study. They encourage us, as Nephi encouraged his brethren, to liken the scriptures to ourselves, finding ways that the sacred accounts of old apply in our lives today (see 1 Nephi 19:23-24). They exhort us to “search the scriptures” (John 5:39) and “feast upon the words of Christ” (2 Nephi 32:3). Daily, meaningful scripture study helps individuals be receptive to the guidance of the Holy Ghost. It builds faith, fortifies against temptation, enlightens, and helps individuals draw near to our Heavenly Father and His Beloved Son. The Bible The Bible is divided into two parts: the Old Testament and the New Testament. The Old Testament is a sacred record of God’s dealings with His covenant people in the Holy Land. It includes the teachings of such prophets as Moses, Joshua, Isaiah, Jeremiah, and Daniel. The New Testament records the birth, mortal ministry, and Atonement of the Savior. It concludes with the ministry of the Savior’s disciples. Because the Bible has been translated many times, it is printed in different versions. In English, the King James Version of the Bible is accepted as scripture by the Church. In The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, we revere the Bible and its sacred teachings. We can receive strength, comfort, and guidance from the biblical accounts of God’s dealings with His people. The Book of Mormon: Another Testament of Jesus Christ The Book of Mormon came forth in this dispensation by the will of the Lord. It is a record of God’s dealings with the people who lived in the ancient Americas. Prophets of the Lord engraved the original records on gold plates. The Lord declared that the Book of Mormon contains “the fulness of the gospel of Jesus Christ” (Doctrine and Covenants 20:9; see also Doctrine and Covenants 42:12). On September 22, 1827, an angel named Moroni-the last Book of Mormon prophet-delivered these records to the Prophet Joseph Smith. By the gift and power of God, the Prophet Joseph translated the record into English. Since then, the Book of Mormon has been translated into many other languages. The primary purpose of the Book of Mormon is to convince all people “that Jesus is the Christ, the Eternal God, manifesting himself unto all nations” (title page of the Book of Mormon). It teaches that all people “must come unto him, or they cannot be saved” (1 Nephi 13:40). Joseph Smith said that the Book of Mormon is “the keystone of our religion, and a man [will] get nearer to God by abiding by its precepts, than by any other book” (introduction to the Book of Mormon). The Book of Mormon is another witness for the truths taught in the Bible. It also restores “plain and precious” truths that have been lost from the Bible through errors in translation or “taken away” in attempts to “pervert the right ways of the Lord” (see 1 Nephi 13:24-27, 38-41). The Bible and the Book of Mormon “shall grow together, unto the confounding of false doctrines and laying down of contentions, and establishing peace” (2 Nephi 3:12). Near the end of the Book of Mormon, the prophet Moroni teaches us how we can know the book is true: “When ye shall receive these things, I would exhort you that ye would ask God, the Eternal Father, in the name of Christ, if these things are not true; and if ye shall ask with a sincere heart, with real intent, having faith in Christ, he will manifest the truth of it unto you, by the power of the Holy Ghost” (Moroni 10:4; see also Moroni 10:3 and Moroni 10:5). The Doctrine and Covenants The Doctrine and Covenants contains revelations given to the Prophet Joseph Smith. It also includes a few revelations given to other latter-day prophets following Joseph Smith. This book of scripture is unique because it is not a translation of ancient documents. It is a collection of revelations given by the Lord to His chosen prophets in the latter days. The Prophet Joseph Smith said that the Doctrine and Covenants is “the foundation of the Church in these last days, and a benefit to the world, showing that the keys of the mysteries of the kingdom of our Savior are again entrusted to man” (section heading for Doctrine and Covenants 70). The Pearl of Great Price The Pearl of Great Price contains the book of Moses, the book of Abraham, the Prophet Joseph Smith’s inspired translation of Matthew chapter 24, and some writings of the Prophet Joseph. The book of Moses is a small excerpt from Joseph Smith’s inspired translation of the Bible. It is a more complete record of Moses’s writings at the beginning of the book of Genesis in the Old Testament. It contains many doctrines and teachings that were lost from the Bible and gives additional information about the plan of salvation, the creation of the earth, and the Lord’s dealings with Adam and Enoch. The book of Abraham is a translation of ancient records written on papyrus that came into the possession of the Church in 1835. The Prophet Joseph Smith translated the records by revelation. This book contains truths about the premortal Council in Heaven, the creation of the earth, the nature of God, and the priesthood. Joseph Smith-Matthew is an excerpt (Matthew 24) from Joseph Smith’s inspired revision of the Bible and adds to our knowledge of the Savior’s teachings about His Second Coming. The writings of Joseph Smith in the Pearl of Great Price include: Joseph Smith-History, which is an excerpt from the Prophet’s history of the Church. It is a narrative of the events leading to the restoration of the Church, including the First Vision, the visits of Moroni to the Prophet Joseph, the obtaining of the gold plates, and the restoration of the Aaronic Priesthood. The Articles of Faith, which the Prophet Joseph Smith wrote as basic statements of belief and doctrine.

@Jealod24
@Jealod24 2 года назад
He didn’t say they didn’t live during his life… he said they didn’t write the gospels themselves. First off, any religious or historical scholar with any credibility state that none of the four gospels in the New Testament were written by their namesakes. The oral tradition was much more prominent at the time and none of the gospels were actually transcribed until at least 50yrs after the death of Jesus, and over a 100yrs later in the case of John. Because the stories were not written down it became difficult for the scribes to attribute particular stories to specific people so they often chose people famous (or well known) during the time of Jesus. It is well documented that over 100 gospels existed but when Emperor Constantine commissioned a version of the bible to be created for the young religion, many gospels were ignored because they were attributed to women, didn’t mesh well with the messaging of the clergy and aristocrats in charge, and lastly because many gospels (including the main four) were transcribed from one language to another over decades, and oftentimes the books were fragmented or didn’t make sense. If you read the main four they actually contradict each other in many parts… this is because of all the aforementioned reasons. Everything I’ve said is agreed upon by top religious scholars… you should take a look. It’s insane that so many think the bible was written by god or by the actual named people… and it was a converted Roman emperor who decided he wanted a New Testament to help solidify his power and a peaceful transition from polytheism to Christianity… which he felt could be more easily managed. Imagine playing the game of telephone with stories as long as the gospels… over decades. Then they get translated from different languages by people with a specific agenda… oops

Man, everyone can have their opinion. But you can't just claim things about people. There is a reason Muslims don't fall for those arguments of "He Heared it from someone and retold it" and other things. I can't stress this enough, Muslims have on their hands FULL chains of narrators back to the Prophet Muhammad (PBUH), with details about every narrator, from their memorization strength, honesty, mannerism, and so on. One weak or lying narrator breaks a chain and so on. So, for us to believe in the Prophet (PBUH) and know what he's done on daily basis and what he's NOT DONE, it's not a leap of faith for us. Anyone claiming otherwise will have to bring much better evidence than anything we have. Muslims reject nice stories about the prophet (PBUH) for those same reasons. So, it's not cherry picking. It is an established science on how you can get to know if something actually happened, and Muslims nailed it.

Actually he wasn’t all that respectful about Christianity. Who reads the entire Bible and takes away from the experience that they only believe in the Old Testament? He knocks on Jesus for saying “leave your father and mother and follow me” which actually isn’t exactly what he said. Jesus did say something along the lines of “you should love me more than your father and mother” which is also obviously fairly radical. In fact, in current translations he actually says something to the effect of you should “hate” your parents. However, in the original Greek, his language wasn’t necessarily that harsh. But like I was saying, if you’re going to be critical of passages from the New Testament you’ve also got to be critical of passages from the Old Testament or the Tanakh and that’s a goldmine for preposterous teachings. Never mind the obvious insanity like all the times God commits genocide or commands the Israelites to commit atrocities. There are also specific passages such as in Leviticus and Deuteronomy that are either malicious or just absurd. God commands the Israelites to stone gay people to death, stone “sorceresses” to death, it says you should be stoned to death if you mix wool and linen, and that’s just getting warmed up. There are all sorts of random rules in the Torah like you should not boil a baby goat in its mother’s milk, you should not eat shellfish, you can eat meat but not the blood or the fat. In Deuteronomy, the punishment for raping a virgin is to pay her father 50 shekels and marry her for life. I really could go on and on about the idiocy of the Old Testament but it would take too long. Really the only two books of the Old Testament that shouldn’t be discarded are Psalms and Proverbs.

You should bring on Rabbi Tovia Singer. He understands the new testament very well, since he refutes Christian missionaries, and he understands the Quran quite well and doesn't usually refute it however. Though Christianity is much smaller and easier to learn than the Quran and their hadiths, so having a Muslim Imam on would help.

@@RyanHReviews You every consider that Jesus was in union with the father like a man and a woman are in union during marriage? John 17:21 I am not asking on behalf of them alone, but also on behalf of those who will believe in Me through their message, that all of them may be one, as You, Father, are in Me, and I am in You. May they also be in Us, so that the world may believe that You sent Me. Believing in a trinity, and that Jesus is the creator of the universe is the definition of blasphemy according to Judaism (the religion of Jesus). It's always the trinitarians who are the most anti-semitic either way, never the unitarians who understand logic and common sense. So yeah, you're an idolater, but God will tolerate you anyway since your idol is one of his prophets. Ignorance is a forgivable sin, but the truth will never change. God is one. Mark 10:18 As Jesus started on His way, a man ran up and knelt before Him. “Good Teacher,” he asked, “what must I do to inherit eternal life?” “Why do you call Me good?” Jesus replied. “No one is good except God alone." So when you read... John 10:30-38 I and the Father are one. Again his Jewish opponents picked up stones to stone him, but Jesus said to them, “I have shown you many good works from the Father. For which of these do you stone me?” “We are not stoning you for any good work,” they replied, “but for blasphemy, because you, a mere man, claim to be God.” Jesus answered them, “Is it not written in your Law, ‘I have said you are “gods”? If he called them ‘gods,’ to whom the word of God came-and Scripture cannot be set aside- what about the one whom the Father set apart as his very own and sent into the world? Why then do you accuse me of blasphemy because I said, ‘I am God’s Son’? Do not believe me unless I do the works of my Father. But if I do them, even though you do not believe me, believe the works, that you may know and understand that the Father is in me, and I in the Father.” Remember that Jesus was in union with God, not that he literally was God in the flesh. This is why he defends himself against accusations of blasphemy, since he did not blaspheme. All of the prophets who were sent by God were Elohim, he is yet another Elohim. The law was not broken.

@MisterBigM Basing reality off subjective experience is incredibly dangerous. What about the subjective experience of Nazis, racists, bigots? They have real physiological reactions of hate/ fear if viewed through neuroimaging. Pure subjective experience will be the end of humanity
@sof553
@sof553 2 года назад
@MisterBigM I could go less extreme. How about the subjective understanding of reality as espoused by Scientologists? How about Christian/ Jewish/ Muslim/ Hindu fundamentalists? As we live on a planet with fellow human beings who have quiet different outlooks on life, rational thinking is the only way we can get to a collective understanding. The above mentioned individuals have too much *emotionally* invested in their religions and can behave in unpredictable or dangerous ways when questioned about their subjective experiences.
@sof553
@sof553 2 года назад
@MisterBigM unfortunately the vast majority of not all human beings suffer from a litany of biases and heuristics that distort our perception of reality. We also don’t tend to live in a vacuum (hermits maybe being an exception) so I don’t buy the individual thing at all. Humans are by and large members of a variety of groups, be they political, sports, religious, artistic, musical etc etc individuals are as easily deluded and unaware of it as groups are.
@sof553
@sof553 2 года назад
@MisterBigM Fairly pushing the boat out to say that the Nazi's had scientific beliefs. They had teams that went around the world to validate their theories and when their discoveries didn't, they hid that information. If you ever look at any of their speeches and rallies what you will generally see is an extreme outpouring of emotion and practically no rational behaviour or talk. On the economic side both capitalism and communism emerged from the ending of feudalism. Both economic systems have subsequently failed. Communism in 1991 and capitalism in 2008, the only reason there is an illusion of a capitalist system is that global central banks (FED, BoJ, ECB, BoE etc.) print 10's of billions every single month (printed out of thin air) and dump it into the market. Needless to say it won't end well. Its generally understood that the reason Nietzsche gave for his hatred of Christianity was that it births atheism and existential despair. To see or understand the whole you have to look at both sides of the coin.
@sof553
@sof553 2 года назад
@MisterBigM Hitler definitely wasn't an atheist, Stalin sure but he didn't go out of his way to kill people for atheism. There are dangers to be aware of on both sides. In regard to subjective experience its been of immense interest to psychologists from the beginning with Wilhelm Wundt, Ebbinghaus and William James. Mountains of material there to be looked at and analyzed. The main problem there is the lower the 'n' number in a study the less you could say you are getting at a part of the human condition. But if there are tons of similar studies showing the same findings then that lends more weight or credibility to certain phenomena. People who have personality types that lend themselves to fantasy are ideally suited to be artists/ creatives. Personally I love mythology with a passion particularly Celtic mythology because it is so abstract and creative. There are a lot of things we can learn about ourselves and nature by studying it and many of these ideas have been encoded in religions as well to a degree. There are lots of moral and ethical philosophers going back thousands of years that we can learn from. Epicurus, Lucretius, Plato, The Buddha, Democritus, Cicero, Jesus, Epictetus, Spinoza.

A masterful calligrapher scribed the three scriptures (the Torah, the Bible, and the Quran). He beautified them and used the most expensive of materials. He intention made mistakes while writing. Then he went to the most knowledgeable of rabbis he could meet and gifted them a copy. The Rabbis were delighted and praised him for his efforts; they didn’t notice a thing. He then did the same to the most famous Christian priests in his city. The priests all thanked him and accepted his gift. He then went to a small mosque and found the person who isn’t so knowledgeable on Islam. That person was the one responsible for organising events, administration, bureaucracy, etc. The muslim was told that this is a gift that I scribed myself etc. and the scribe then asked the Muslim to accept it as charity for the mosque so others could benefit from reading it. The Muslim opened the Quran and immediately caught a mistake. The calligrapher then asked him to turn a blind eye as the materials used were expensive (è.g. Gold) and it took him a lot of time. The Muslim insisted that he should either correct the mistakes or that the copy is burned. This just shows how Muslims care a lot about authenticity. They don’t want fabrications. They pay attention to practice and apply their religion to the best of their ability I hope you enjoyed the story 😊

According to the TaNaKh/OT God manifested himself in the garden of Eden especially when Adam and Eve went to hide behind the bush away from His presence. And when God's presence came down into the Tabernacle so that clouds covered it entirely. Also, Moses clearly saw God descend on mount Sinai with him. I guess he forgot about all of that. The irony that escapes him is that in the Old Testament (Deuteronomy) it states to actually stone an unruly son. You wouldn't find a Christian, misrepresenting this verse, to disqualify Judaism, because a thing as context exists. One has to be honest, when making a claim. If the material is not legit, it becomes self evident, without needing to misrepresent it. Amazingly, he went out of his way to make false claims about the New Testament, but then trotted carefully to not slip up around Islam. @@tracktor1979 take for example the claim that the trinity was developed over time and then eventually seeing itself as a monotheistic religion. Christianity was monotheist from the get go. And First century jews believed in the trinity. That is the whole reason why Jesus was killed, he claimed the title of the son, he claimed the title of messiah, he claimed the title of I AM, he promised to send the Comforter just after his death, ie the Holy Spirit. The Trinity is an Old Jewish idea, scattered all through the old testament, it was later on, rejected, post Temple destruction. Many a great Rabbi admit this fact after studying old texts. The claim that none of the Gospels are from first hand eye witness. When John explicitly claims it. When they described things, people and places that have only recently been confirmed through archeology. The claim that Christians believe God died and Jews believe that God is eternal and never came to Earth... he is implying that Christians do not believe that God is eternal, huge misrepresentation, also it bring up another problem... God never came to earth? Didn't Moses interact with God on the mountain? If he claims it was God, then God does enter his creation if he so choses. (And doing so, does not lessen him or make him finite.) If he claims it wasn't the father, but the face of the spirit of the messenger of God, that means it is the second person of the trinity, ie the son, ie Jesus, conforming to old Jewish beliefs and affirming the trinity. (See how he cornered himself.) His need to deny the trinity stems from his need to deny The Triune God, because he does not believe in what first century Jews and prior believed. He is a Rabbinic Jew, a movement started in early 2nd century and fully formed by 6th Century CE... making contemporary with islam's infancy (or so it is claimed, archeology does not agree with any early islamic claims). This makes the Christian books, the oldest to be canonised of the whole lot. (Ironic, don't you think. Considering all the drivel that is spewed by youtube scholars about the texts being corrupted.) The New testament books are all dated textually to 1st Century eye witness, when the oldest copies from all over the Mediterranean are crossed referenced to each other. There are thousands of copies that cross reference and confirm. Making them, the most scientifically and logically reliable. (This is not saying that the parchment is dated 1CE, but the hand copies passed on across the Mediterranean, during the early years, under massive persecution, had no way for checking with each other. And no printing press. Yet the copies of the copies, from all over, match. So the texts were preserved. And we still have those copies.) The old testament can be considered reliable on many accounts based on biblical archeology amongst other things. (He is very dismissive of NT, I can only speculate as to why.)

When Jesus said ‘Leave your father and mother and follow me’, that was not a ‘religious model’, at least not a broad one. Within the context of the passage, it’s clearly referring to the dedication required to walk with Christ, and bear the cross. In short, it’s spoken for the people he was speaking to, not all people who would choose to worship and accept the sacrifice. Obviously, if all who worshiped Christ followed that path, then all would die childless on the cross, the sacrifice would be of no benefit, and the religion would be over quite quickly. He can ‘not like this ‘model’’, but also, he’s not required to adopt it. Only to exalt those that do, or that which does.

Jesus' death has great meaning. He truly DIED. That act, giving his life willingly while remaining faithful to God, his Father, gave POWER to his blood. That blood then, that sacrifice then, had MEANING and usefulness as a price to buy us back from the bondage that Adam sold us into. If he really did not die, we have no RANSOM, thus no eternal life prospects. So the scriptures are clear about the true GOD, HE CANNOT DIE. But God's son, Jesus, died and was resurrected to sit at God's right hand in Heaven. There is no trinity, it is a pagan doctrine.

So it's impossible that the Torah that we have today has not being changed from the original one.

“Jesus is to Judaism as Muhammad is to Christianity” is a tendentious stretch. In the first century, there was a lot of debate about how to be “Israel”. Jesus taught a different emphasis - one that emphasized the spirit behind the law vs the letter of the law - and reinterpreted institutions like “sacrifice” and the “temple”. Christianity is sect of Judaism. Rabbinical or Talmudic Judaism is younger than Christianity. It is a “way of being Israel” that is newer and (one could argue) is actually less continuous with the 1st century Judaic practices than Christianity.

No offense, but I believe mainstream clerks should be very knowledgeable. And I think Mr. Wolpe could take this moment and leave his pride aside and learn more about Islam and Christianity from their clerks - aka not only from what you might have learned from your teacher. This is what many people get wrong. Islam never claimed to be a new religion. Islam since the beginning was a continuation of the God/Yahweh/Allah's only religion. It confirmed the message sent to Abraham, Moses, Jesus etc. So of course the message would be pretty much the same like in Torah. Prophet Muhammad (pbuh) often referred to the other prophets as "my brother". Now why Islam over Judaism or Christianity if they are pretty much the same ? It all come down to the preservation of the message. Quran is well preserved than Torah or Bible. Thats my strongest reason to follow Islam.

"None of the books of the New Testament were written by people who met Jesus in person" Perhaps I'm missing something, I would like to hear him further explain his reasoning for coming to this conclusion. I recognize bias often is involved when analyzing history. A person with a certain religious conviction may tend toward the authority of the scholars in their own camp while trying to separate historical fact and fiction. That being said, this assertion made by Rabbi Wolpe seems like a silly thing to state with so much confidence. The first words of the book of James state exactly the authors name: James. As I understand it, a majority of New Testament scholars conclude that this was Jesus' younger brother James. James, who initially believed that Jesus went off the deep end, but then after experiencing what he believed to be a resurrected Jesus would go onto become a key leader in the Jerusalem early church and eventually die as a martyr. Keeping it in the family, another one of Jesus' little brothers wrote a book recognizing his divinity. The book of Jude begins by saying "Jude, a servant of Jesus Christ and brother of James..." Matthew, John, 1/2/3 Peter, Revelation - don't a majority of NT scholars believe these were written by disciples?! I'm betting someone in these comments has to know much more about this than I do haha

Jesus doesn’t not say leave your parents behind and never look back. It is the concept of your parents that should be left behind. You came to this world through your parents, not by your parents. The attachment through concepts is separating you from God. So the love for your parents is covered by attachment. This attachment creates fear. Fear has no love in it. God is the love you have for your parents. If there is fear there is no love, no love no god. So Jesus says leave your parents behind and follow mi.
