Torch Lake is located in northern (lower peninsula) Michigan about 10 km northeast of Traverse City Michigan. The lake is known for its crystal clear blue waters, giving it the nickname of the Caribbean Of The Midwest. The lake was formed over 11000 years ago from receding glaciers. The water is clear and blue due to the lack of organic material that you would find in most lakes. Also the sand is white calcium carbonate and water is naturally blue in large quantities. Put clear water on top of a white floor the water will appear blue. This is why many tropical beaches and this lake look similar due to the white sediment.

Sometimes in our passion for perfection we are too hard on ourselves. Others have no worries about such things. I do believe there is a fine line between success and failure. This attribute of attention to detail is an essential one for positive outcomes. Like self employment. Who needs supervision when you have these qualities?🤔🤔😊😊

This is great to see. One of my favorites is Lake Lure. We went there in the late 60s. Of course it is man made but great fun can be found there. If I remember correctly we were visiting the Ridgecrest Conference Center. I remember fun at the lake, I was maybe a year or two older than your boy. Great times and memories.

Michigan definitely has some clear blue water lakes. Sleeping Bear Dunes was fascinating! Lake Lure is not to far from here about a three hour drive.

Thank you for this video. It looks so beautiful. We are planning to be in the region and wondering what landmark/destination/address should I be using for experiencing this clear blue water. The video says first from the East side and then from the southwest side but having a landmark or address would be helpful as I anticipate that we will have little time for this but after watching this video, I would rather not miss it altogether.

Thanks! Much of the lake has crystal clear blue water. The east side is taken from Dockside and the southwest part is where the "Sand Bar" is located. In fact much of northern Lake Michigan and Lake Huron have clear blue water. Sleeping Bear Dunes especially :)

What a great-looking place! Nearly had a heart attack when you 'dropped' the camera in the water, though! Thanks, as always, for sharing these cool places. 👍

It's at a place called Dockside on the eastern shore of Torch Lake. Yes it is public.

Better see it soon. It's being quickly spoiled by stupid humans and their destructive toys.
