Not quite. Lightning bolt is any target, whereas torch the tower is a creature or Planeswalker. I get what you're saying though

I've liked it quite a bit with the few drafts I've done. It currently feels like it has a pretty good diversity of archetypes.

In your defense I think a UR catapult build with no splashes (or just splashing Goose Mom off Vinestalk) still 7-0s here a lot of the time.

I would've definitely ended up with a straight Boros aggro deck in this seat, which would also have been pretty busted.

I was thinking the same thing. I feel like you could make a competitive deck exclusively out of cards that wheeled.

7 Creature Spells and a creature land. How does he get away with this. I'd lose all of them to removal and deck out.

demoralizing your opponent should never be underestimated as a win condition, and I say this without a hint of irony. I once spiked a game day (back in Khans standard) with a UB control deck that had 3 win cons -- one Ugin and two Silumgar the Drifting Death.

Not clear torch is going 7 pick

I'm going to argue for 1) Blue, 2) Red, 3) Black, 4) White, 5) Green Blue feels almost unstoppable in this set imo, big finishers like Archive Dragon and Ingenious Prodigy along with a lot of really good, really cheap interaction/low curve creatures, like Sleep-Cursed Faerie, Stopgap (if bargained), etc. make blue such a versatile color and so easy to splash with all of the fixing. Red has insane removal, I think this video proved it best Black has decent options with food, the reprints like Dark Tutelage and Stab Wound with Bitterblossom practically slotting directly into this set, you have decent options, but imo the color needs some splashing to make it viable, mono-black is probably not going to be super viable White, decent support, synergizes well with Blue in the Tap deck, Black in an aristocrats style deck, and red with some decent celebration stuff, but it's just kinda eh. Green, I don't think this means green is bad by any stretch of the mind, but it rewards you more for going outside Green, but it's close honestly, decent creature that give you options to go into other colors easily means you get a lot of versatility, but unfortunately it lacks the punch that blue has That said, I'm just some doofus on the internet and I haven't played a bunch, just seen a lot of content on it and I'm pretty sure this is at least accurate at some points also + engagement or something

I think the problem is that OG Eldraine nailed the flavor so well, and this set misses a little IMO. When you're comparing a bakery fresh croissant and one from Safeway the differences are really going to stand out.

I like it so far but I can see where you’re coming from. LOTR was a very special set to me so it was always going to be hard to top it in the next set.
