When I first started listening to her music I thought, this chick is probably pretty eccentric in person and comes across as angsty and offbeat in interviews... She actually appears to be pretty good with giving interviews and very affable. What a classy lady.
Tori Amos is one of the most influential singer , songwriters of the century ! I can not pick a single song of hers that is my favorite ! Everything Tori has ever written speaks to so many ! There are very few women that I would label a Goddess and Tori is one of them !

I saw her last night at the Royal Albert Hall with the Metropole Orchestra and she was absolutely spectacular, only three rows from the front and my goodness she looks amazing although her lack of facial movements above the mouth was disappointingly indicative of a certain bovine enzyme treatment which really surprised me as I'd never have thought she'd succumb to such temptations...I loved her blue glittery glasses though :)
Tori's music about women empowerment is about choice. Want to be a housewife?--as long as it's what you want, then great. This negativity about her plastic surgery...wow. It's something she wanted to do, so she did it. If she stuck to the social pressure of (well, you're a feminist, so you can't care about your looks), then what message does that bring?
not necessarily--a lot of fans eat that kind of stuff right up. I know I do when Tori talks about her daughter, ESPECIALLY when I remember that she suffered through three miscarriages before finally getting to be a mother.
Tori is an artist, a muse, and extremely talented musicians and composer. That is why I have been a fan of hers for over15 years. The last album is a classical album. Yes, it's different from her other records, but they're all different! She evolves, she always finds something new to work with, while keeping her piano in the picture. She is amazing live. And even if she did get some kind of "plastic surgery", it wouldn't change the fact that she looks like her mother, who is very beautiful.
Well I'm not necessarily a fan of her music, but this woman definitely has a heck of a voice on her. It's also good to know she's got a good sense of humor. LOL.
I think its impossible not to think she has, but her work as an artist is still great. Would've preferred her to not give in, but perhaps it was her decision alone.
Mary Farah, yeah that does make sense. She's been doing plastic surgery for years it seems, but they were mostly tiny and benign changes from the early 1990s.
I would never have known she's had any facial work done had you all not been talking about it. However much she spent, it was worth it, because there's nothing even slightly "off" about her looks. She looks great and I hope it made her happier. Did you know Tori is only five years younger than Joan Jett? Doesn't that seem off?!? Anyway, Ms. Jett had some face work done too, but _unlike_ Tori, she looks like a completely different person now. Still a beautiful woman, though. They are both beautiful women and great artists. Maybe some day they'll collaborate -- it would be like the female version of Lou Reed & John Cale!
You just reinforced my opinion that most men are incapable of seeing detail. Her face looks like a rubber mask and her eyes have lost all their sparkle. You really need to do some before and after study and then tell me there is nothing "off".

It's hard to get the icy snippy tone of voice in texts or the instant messaging -real time-ish frame of the pace that I think a lot of people (besides me) *think* in, and the people who are not able to sleep and are awake at 6:43 q.m. because the sleep is not coming, and not cuz we just got up. .. we are apt to respond to a RU-vid video comment from 6 years ago as if it was a FB messenger chat 6 min ago, and I am clearly (to me anyhow ) being a sarcastic twat because it irked me to get a peek into the urinal of the guys mind, and I think if tori had medical reason originally when the surgery shit started, it was a little excessive. I have a cousin who is 4 years older than tori, and got a lot of migraines which are. ..insurance companies pay for botox treatment. The bitch is hooked on them and looks like a mask now. yeah that's the whole point, she looks amazing for someone in her late 40's cause she had stuff done. I'm all for it, but at least do it right. She looked older than she does in this video in the Scarlet's Walk era, but she looked so much more beautifull there. She's unrecognisable now

I think she was just very, very comfortable around Rosie--and I think that comfort level is a *HUGE* factor in how she acts here versus the super-long pauses in the other interviews. I think that when she's uncomfortable, she suspects that the journalist will use the TINIEST slip-up as a chance to figuratively burn her at the stake, and so she feels like she has to be super-careful with her words. that's how it seems to me, anyway.
I know I'm reading the comments and people are all bent out of shape for saying things about they way she looks but, woah. What happened? She looks good but, huh, just not the Tori I grew up with. She also sounds different too...more lucid and normal. Maybe being a mommy has just changed her.
Argh! I am disgusted that so many people are obsessing over her physical appearance. I don't know if she's had surgery or not, and I don't care; it's none of my business. I am not a fan of plastic surgery, but how is it that different from wearing high-heels or make-up, or dying your hair, or trying to prevent wrinkles. Women, it is NOT your job to be beautiful. You don't owe that to anyone. But...if you choose to embellish your appearance, it is no one's business but your own. Tori is lovely.

I've been listening to Tori for 22 years. Love her. But I just wish she would show a little more tact when talking about parents who divorce. I mean, ouch! We can't all get it right, like you. And for some of us, it is a bit too late to go back and say, Mum, Dad, it's like this. So she should be thankful for her parents being together and for still being with her husband and being blessed with her wonderful daughter and maybe not try to criticise other families.
SHUT UP ABOUT HER FACE. I can't believe people are still talking about surgery! This interview has nothing to do with that, she's talking about her daughter. For goodness' sake, she's like 48 now! She's aging! Usually when humans are aging, their faces look different. And NO she is not pregnant. Why do you have to be so judgmental and harsh? Why can't you just enjoy her beautiful music, stories, and personality? In my honest opinion, I think she looks amazing for someone in their late 40s.
I also want to add that the reason people comment on her plastic surgery is because, even though her music legacy remains in tact, by having plastic surgery, everything she's ever said about female empowerment, about being yourself and accepting yourself as a woman and fighting the men in the suits has been lost. All of it. A life's work. It's really hard not to be cynical in the face (pardon the pun) of that.

Cosmetic surgery has very little to do about appealing to men or seeking their approval. Body-image issues stem from a myriad painful places, but to suggest that going under the knife is somehow anti-feminist is reductive and offensive in its lack of nuance.
Ask Dolly Parton about that. Your flesh sack does not dictate your values. Nothing about getting work done cancels out anything that she has said or stood for before. Choosing how you look is about being happy with yourself and has absolutely nothing to do with appealing or submitting to people.

I completely disagree, the only similarity between Tori and Kate is that they are women who can sing and play the piano, but their styles are completely different and Tori is far more talented and a much better pianist.

No, that's totally fine. Sounds a little weird especially for me because I was kind of a late bloomer. However, my point is that people always say "Oh he or she sounds so mature. It's so great. Good job" I think No, it's not. Let kids be kids. Applause like that only induces pressure and later they complain about how their childhood or gowing up years slipped past them. And then you're trying to make up for it when you're old - some by paying their surgeon very well.

Because instead of becoming a beautiful older woman who accepts who she is she has goten surgery, which to many is contrary to the overall spirit her music has presented of defiant self acceptance and such. It's her body and she is allowed to do as she likes, of course, but then people are also allowed to have an opinion on that contradiction. Some of us were looking forward to a woman who seemed to accept herself, and her unique look, but that is gone now.

Now, she has her sexuality figured out at this age, is ready to talk about it AND thinks that black guys are hot? A girl who has been listening to the blues for 2 years at that point? It matters pretty much not at all if she HAS had plastic surgery. Must every single choice a woman makes be up for global scrutiny? Jesus. I'd like to see you lot be this catty in your dissection of Brad Pitt or Johnny Depp, or Elvis Costello, if you prefer a musical example. Has he? Hasn't he? Oh we're so disappointed in him. No?
