Boy, what I would give to see Richard Carpenter and Tori Holub to work together to honor his Sister Karen, and continue Karen's legacy for future generations.

Each year, on Feb. 4, I play nothing BUT Carpenter's music, in honor of Karen. She was a HUGE influence on my singing, and harmonizing. Tori is bringing that all back. Wow.

You haven't just covered Karen as a singer, but The Carpenters as a vocal group. You've mastered the secret to overdubbed choral vocals. Blending with an incomplete "ensemble" that can't respond to each other in real time is damn hard, folks. No amount of Vocalign, Autotune, and digital sorcery can generate the secret sauce. Nice. After searching around a little, I see Fil/Wings of Pegasus picked up on this too.
Don’t know about a tour, but I would love it if they would record Karen’s full catalog with todays quality recording equipment I would buy that in a heartbeat
*How the freak can Tori just land on those crazy jazz notes like diminished, augmented, fifths and whatever they are?? The performance sounds "weightless" and looks so easy for her!! It would be great fun to have a voice like that - even just for a week - to play with it like the world's best toy:)*
This is absolutely magic. Simply smiling ear to ear. As I am 64 yrs old, I like so many others commenting, grew up with these songs. Jim, Thank you so much for your amazing efforts bringing this music back to life. Cant imagine laying down each track of the harmonies, singing take after take with subtle variants that combine in perfect tune. Tori... Wow, just wow. No words.... Just admiration and respect for your amazing voice and poise! Just found you guys this evening. Cant wait to spend more time with you both. It's as though I found a treasured scrapbook in the attic, but somehow it has magically come to life. ❤x ♾️
@jpmartdog So beautifully said! Just remembering the old days with old friends and loving The Carpenters and Dionne Warwick, etc. All of my friends are gone now 😢 but I'm thrilled to have lived in that Era as a young person. 😊😅 Street dances in San Jose too, yay
I'm also 64 and loved The Carpenters and their music..... wish I had got to meet Karen. Tori is very close to a perfect copyof Karen's voice.... but not quite. Trouble is, she's so good, I don't know who I prefer !
You two could record an album of songs that The Carpenters never did but should have, and the world would be a better place for it and you'd be rich to boot.
This is eerie. Saw the carpenters live in Vegas 71 I think when I was 13. She was still behind the drums at the time. This young lady is very close to Karen but I can still hear differences. That being said excellent performance!

Just looking at the smile in your face, I know you were delighted doing these videos and know not just how special her voice is but her dedication to put everything into her craft. OMG. From the second Tori started singing - I was covered with goose pimples!! The hair stood up on my arms! Absolutely PERFECT! She NAILS Karens inflections, range, evocativeness! As close as I've ever heard someone capture Karen Carpenter - an UNTOUCHABLE!!
She doesn't quite have the richness and timbre of Karen's voice, yet, and she misses some of the little in-betweens but she's very close and very pleasant to listen to. Very nice. Not Karen, but a very nice tribute to her legacy. 🙂

Then in the song Walk On By. It’s a duet. In Tori’s original she’s Richard in the backing and here in the main. Right to the camera, Richard/harmony/Karen and repeat. Tori Holub is an amazingly talented singer. There are other singers on RU-vid who I really like, and think sing great, but Tori is on another level. A Pro-level talent who sings better than most professional singers!

I listen to alot iof music, its my safe place , im terminally sick from a punch , its given me extreme depression and anxiety severe night terrors and extreme ptsd with suicidal tendencies, when i clise ny eyes especially when Tori sang weve only just begun , i was litterly in 17th October 1970 watching the ed sullivan show and karen was playing drums in her iconic yellow dress singing this. Time travels really does exist
Amazing!! This is a hard song to sing and she nailed it!!! I am a huge Burt Bacharach and Carpenters fan. Yes she needs an album to honor the Carpenters working with Richard and recording her own originals. She has a pure, beautiful voice, so refreshing. Sing, sing a song….the sky is the limit for you!!!

I’ve seen a few reaction videos to Tori’s spellbinding cover with the genius production of Jim. Every single reaction video is met with wonder and you can see their smiles grow. This aurally amazing cover has taken listeners back to a beautiful bygone era, brought back beautiful memories. Tori we need you to rise, to succeed and to inspire a disenchanted Gen Z that there’s beauty in this world. Gen Alpha needs to hear these songs play in the background and as they grow up they revisit these songs and hear the beauty in these lyrics.

Tori's voice is blessed with a range of octaves that will put her up there with the finest vocalists in the 2024-2044 timeframe.I appreciate her for her talent and for her ability to get "inside" the soul of Karen Carpenter,I think that has helped her recreate that distant sadness and despair Karen felt deep down in the inner layers of her psyche when she performed,especially in the last years of her life.

54 of them to be exact. No one not named Carpenter recreated The Medley in its original “jazzy” format until Tori did last October and Jim joining Tori and honoring the format now. Others slowed it down, changed songs, not the original.
Being a Karen Carpenter fan from too many years ago, I was stunned the first time I heard Tori sing. The more I listened to her, the more I realized how exact her voice compared. She even has the little lisp that Karen had. Fun to listen to.

Extraordinary;. Most covers I've heard have been pretty average at best. These are just magical. The same warmth and expression in the voice, but still unique.

Second, separate comment... i don't think i've ever heard the first song in the medley before. 6 full decades on the Earth, and a huge fan of Burt Bacharach - and i'm hearing it like brand new in 2024 CE! I rather love it. Brilliantly performed, without, it seems, any edit to the main vocal performance. Brava, & Bravo!
Wow, Tori has all the natural ease and musicality of Karen Carpenter. They are both rare contraltos. Tori's voice is just a tad fuller, which is, if anything, a good quality. Those of us who are old enough to remember real music thirst for more. I would like to hear Tori sing something original that is composed for her voice.
Effortless? It seemed it, but it simply couldn't be. Such perfection must take enormous effort and talent. Another amazingly accurate cover. What a voice Tori has: one in many millions.
I've always loved The Carpenters' "Bacharach/David Medley" especially from their concert performance in Australia in early 1970's with Karen on drums. Tori, you are definitely channeling the magical voice of Karen Carpenter! I've seen & heard other impersonators, but your talented voice definitely captures Karen's heart & soul! ♥🎤🎧🎵🎹🥁🎼🎶♥
