Tori Kelly performing "Ex-Factor" by Lauryn Hill along with her original song "Celestial" at The Great American Music Hall in San Francisco, during her Foreword tour. (Nov. 3) p.s. sorry for the shakiness
Can't compare Beyonce and Tori Kelly. Just like you can't compare Whitney Houston, Aretha Franklin, Anita Baker, Lauryn Hill, Teena Marie, Adele etc. Completely different music styles. Both women did a PHENOMENAL job with this song !!!!!
Catalina Bernat keep in mind her setting. She's at a small venue where ya intimate being still. Beyoncé was on a world tour performing. She also did the cover after dancing and for a much bigger crowd. Either way they both did amazing.
"I keep letting you back in...how can I explain myself" Love Lauryn to pieces but also love how covers can bring out different lyrics in unique ways. I felt that lyric SO MUCH when Tori did that. Girl you DID that.
Why do people feel the need to compare almost every female singer to Beyonce ?? Just Enjoy the music as they do...Geesh. 2 Amazingly Talented Women in music . This world has a disease of instantly making meaningless comparisons ...Cool it guys
dear all, please do me a favor and just enjoy the music for what it is. let's not make any comparisons (like beyonce) or bring her ethnicity into this. i'm not too sure what either of those things have to do with this video. i understand that it's nearly impossible to not make these comparisons but if you're just going to talk down about someone i would appreciate it if you refrain from leaving it as a comment. just a little fed up with seeing these types of comments fill my feed, with that being said happy viewing (: (& for the record tori comes from a mix of jamaican, puerto rican, german and irish descent. hope that clears up any confusion. and yes, beyonce's cover is great too)
After i just listen to this, my mom and I just have a conversation. I had been crying from a bad break up with someone who I loved more than myself, and as a man i was ashamed to be crying. Mom just told me it was okay to cry, let it out, cleanse yourself and win because Im a winner! Wow!! Thanks Tori for heloing me to heal a little bit more!!
Vocally this was amazing but the best parts to any Lauren Hill song isnt just how she sings it but the emotion she pours into them and the connection you feel while listening. And that is what this is missing that simple sensation
Very pleasing to the ears. Just found out about this playing/singing Tori Kelly. I feel the ache in her voice even though it's soft and delicate as well.
I love Tori's voice. I think she is very original. I love this version of ex factor. I really don't understand why ppl are comparing her version to Beyonces. lol As much as I love queen bee. I definitely like this cover better. Cause tori took this song an made it her own. she sung it the way she would like to sing it as an artist herself. she put more of an acoustic sound to it. An I love it. Where as Beyonces cover is like the regular version. A cover of a song should never sound the same as the person who actually created the song. It's called a cover for a reason. lol I love both of their voices tho. But Tori Def makes me feel it more.
This comment is clearly biased and flawed. If Beyoncé's cover was "regular", that would mean its arrangement was almost similar to that's of Lauryn's. Which is *COMPLETELY* untrue. Now, what you're hearing between Tori and Bey is the variance in terms of what the settings call for and their vocal fachs and choices. Tori went with the original's mood while tweaking it up with some melisma, which you claim, "makes it her own". Beyoncé sang in a stadium and the atmosphere wasn't "intimate" at all, it had an aggressive "entertainment" feel. Now, both are immensely technical vocalist but the one who *TRULY* flipped up the song and made it hugely different, is *BEYONCÉ* . So stop with your unsubtle bullshit. :D
Tori Kelly's cover is waaay better than Beyoncé's. I hate to even compare bc I love Bey but dayum...Tori effortlessly slayed this song (color has nothing to do with it)! So glad Bey finally has competition with vocals.
Hands down, she's perfect! I hate the fact that insanely talented people like her is so underrated. I mean, you know I'm from Russia, a big country with a large population, and I swear unfortunately no one knows who Tori Kelly is,although this girl has such a strong voice that she alone can surpass the entire Russian show business,so I can say that her label don't deserve her because they don't even try to make a legend out of her even though she deserves it.
Why do people need to bring up Beyonce everywhere they go. I swear I see her everywhere on RU-vid. You sure are making her name tasty on your tongues, making beyonce more popular, and having this woman that you ride so hard for read these comments like its cool to hate on someone you don't know on a video that has nothing to do with Beyonce knowles. Everyone has covered this damn song.
This is awesome but it would be so much better without everyone screaming every 5 seconds... Why can't people just shut the hell up and enjoy the beautiful music without hooping and hollering
Dica: Pesquisar apenas resultados em português (Brasil). Especifique seu idioma de pesquisa em Preferências Ex-Factor Lauryn Hill It could all be so simple But you'd rather make it hard Loving you is like a battle And we both end up with scars Tell me, who I have to be To get some reciprocity No one loves you more than me And no one ever will Is this just a silly game That forces you to act this way? Forces you to scream my name Then pretend that you can't stay Tell me, who I have to be To get some reciprocity No one loves you more than me And no one ever will No matter how I think we grow You always seem to let me know It ain't workin', It ain't workin' (No, it ain't workin') And when I try to walk away You'd hurt yourself to make me stay This is crazy, this is crazy (This is crazy, uh-huh!) I keep letting you back in How can I explain myself? As painful as this thing has been I just…
just reading the comments you can tell who the beyhive is. beyonce has no soul. Tori does. Beyonce tries too hard to sound soulful, Tori didn't even have to try. also, to the people hating calling her a white girl, she's half white , and 1/4 Latino 1/4 black. open your eyes passed color and listen to the voice. she killed it!
Get it!!!! She did a great cover :) it's called making it your own people she has talent y'all I bet you guys sound like farts out of a cow smh she's awesome don't be jealous
Tori is really a beast with it, no questions asked!!!! We just did our own cover to the same song, if anybody is interested just take a look at our page. We're Tori, but we have our own style!
but when a white female singer covers ex-factor it's automatically better than Beyoncés lmao , racist af . tori kelly put her own twist on it too and tbh the essence of the song is lost in her cover like yall were saying in Beyoncés
+CommentKid3000 i dont even know what she is so i assumed shes white because i dont know her . wouldnt you say nicki minaj is black if you didnt know anything about her? (:
Can someone explain what you actually mean when you say someone has no soul in a song and no emotion .. because I don’t get it .. it seems to me the only person who can know if they have soul or emotion or not is the person who’s singing the song .. but someone explain
