This one is a #3 needle / nozzle set-up. I have another one set up for a #5 needle / nozzle set-up. I use the #3 much more than the #5. Too much overspray for my paint booth set-up. The #3 puts out more than enough, but the booth will handle that. I shot this paint and clear at 35 pounds with the needle open a little passed half way.

Testors / Model Master Gloss Enamel clear that comes in the half ounce bottles.

I used 4030 balancing clear amd 4012 high performance reducer.

Yes. I have tried Duplicolor, Rustoleum, Krylon etc. Don't much care for any of them. They don't apply very well and if I do use them, I decant them and spray out of my airbrush. Much better results. Rustoleum and Krylon are enamel based and Duplicolor is automotive lacquer, so you have to be careful with it. I wouldn't attempt it over Testors enamel. My favorite by far is Testors clear enamel gloss mixed 50/50 with lacquer thinner.

I would say the biggest thing is to thin with 4011 reducer for most everything in their line.

Generally about 20% of 4011 reducer.. I don't use the 4012 any longer.

It does help with that some, but the main reason is to keep dust and debris from flying around from the air pressure of the airbrush. That's an old school trick from older automotive paint booths. We used to hose down the interior walls of those old paint booths before down draft and high tech extractor fans.

Thanks Ron. I used what I used the second go around.......Testors Gloss Enamel mixed 50 / 50 with lacquer thinner. I think it was an older bottle the first time as it had turned a little yellow, but I have used it before like that. Usually it's fine as long as it doesn't stay cloudy when you add the lacquer thinner, and it didn't, but it sure didn't want to stay on the car the first time. I should have mentioned that in the video. Appreciate you watching brother!

@@mcmodelworks right on Gary! I've heard and seen great things about Testors clear top coat. I wonder if maybe the wait time between painting and clearing was too long or not long enough. I know some automotive paint/clear has a very specific timeline and even being a few minutes ahead or behind can make a mess of things for you quick.

The paint t is actually very thin and even though it looks like a lot of paint, it really isn't. I use a product called Crafters Pick for the windows and clear parts. It is good stuff. It is thick and is white, but dries clear. Holds very well and bonds to the parts pretty strongly.

I don't remember the mix ratio. Needle is the #3 needle / nozzle combo from Paasche which is .7 mm. 32 psi.

Base color was Wicked Aluminum.

The one I had at the time of the video was one I ordered off of e-bay. Not sure of the brand. I gave it to my stepson. The one I have now is made by Paasche. It moves twice as much air as my old one. Thanks for watching brother!
