A tornado ripped through a town in Michigan, destroying homes, small businesses and even a FedEx facility. FOX's Chelsea Torres is in Portage, Michigan with the story.
Michigan Governor, Gretchen Whitmer, declared a state of emergency for Kalamazoo County on Tuesday evening.
"We will work with emergency teams overnight to monitor the situation and coordinate resources for those affected," Whitmer wrote on X.
"Michigan is strong and together we will rebuild."

This is my hometown. I know the area well, it’s a rather large and spaced out town, but this twister picked a path right through the middle of town and might never be exactly the same again. Amazing with the high number of elderly that everyone got the warnings and made it safe.

This was the first tornado in Kzoo County in 15 years. Worse one since the one in 1980 that went through downtown Kzoo. Praying for Portage
