I have the 1996 version of this lawnmower (almost identical) so I enjoyed watching you needlessly disassemble it because you weren't sure how it worked. I will give you credit for putting it back together. Not keeping it for yourself was your second mistake because as you yourself stated "they don't make them like they used to"
Hehe, glad you enjoyed it. I have a newer but still old Toro which runs like a champ and also a 1999 craftsman ride on tractor with the briggs and strat V twin engine which is just boss but if I had the room to store the GTS then I would keep it. Sometimes we just gotta let some go...
Even though you didn't need to take it apart this actually might help me as I have similar lawn mower so feel more confident taking it further apart seeing how you did it. My pull rope doesn't turn. Seems to turn from the blade. I took out spark plug and still doesn't turn. Don't think engine is seized since can turn with the blade but maybe the blade isn't turning 100%>> I have to look at it closer tmrw
Mine isn't quite as old, but I do love it. Aluminum deck, super recycler. Did an engine swap a couple years back. Hope to keep it for the rest of my mowing days. They do not build them like this anymore! The new stuff is crap.
Hi, I have a similar old Toro the OHV engine with electric starter and alternator.. The battery was missing from mine I'm trying to find out if it used a 6v,12v or 24v battery. Are you able to tell me the voltage of the battery that came with yours? I'm assuming it would be the same voltage Thanks
I dont have it anymore but looked for pictures which I know I took of all the numbers and I must have deleted them....wish I didnt...sorry I cant help ya. :(
@@cruizinmax4017 Thanks for checking. Did you have to hold the break from under the deck to get the blade engagement lever to work? My cable connector came off and having trouble getting it to work.
