I have the 30 inch turf master. 3 weeks old. I love it cutting this Bermuda grass. Mulches awesome. Not my primary only use 1-2 hours a week but I'm impressed so far. The feel is heavy duty but I will keep u updated on the transmission to let u kno if it's a better choice to switch to rather than those home owner models. Awesome info like always Johnny
I am so so so lucky I have a Toro Timemaster that I have had for 4 months now and I cut 15 yards a day and have had NO problems with mine. I just see your video and others and just say I am the lucky one who got a timemaster that doesn't give me any problems at all. I open the shout when I cut tall grass and it works great for me. The trans keeps me running so I just barley push on it. As far as wet grass, I again open up the shout like I see all commercial landscapers doing. The grass just blows out the side and it cuts the grass up so small I don't have to double cut. I do want to try adjusting the govener spring just to see what it does. But I love the Timemasters cut it leaves a nice strip and I get done with yards so much faster then I did last year with a 22inch. I also keep my blades sharp and keep the mower clean . lucky now we are in dry grass season so I'm on and off a yard so quick.. Good video bud .. thanks for the info
I also deal with the vapor lock problem. The cut quality has definitely got worse even though I just changed the blades. I live in New York. My transition is fine. The plastic striper ripped off of mine. Thanks for the review it taught me about the vapor lock problem.
I bought a Timemaster this year and love it. It is such a perfect mower for me. Like you my 22 inch mowers are left in the garage. I have found that you just need to cut according to the yard. If it's tall slow down. I would like for you to show with a little more detail how to turn up the RPM's. Thanks. Nick Wilson Father & Daughter Lawn Care
The machine also works better in thick turf if you raise the front of the deck up a notch higher than the back. And the blades are very thin and dull out easily. We have a turfmaster and timemaster both. We don's use them much since this year we got a couple 36" stand ons. I have purchased a couple other timemasters that were garbage in a week which is why i got the turfmaster in the hopes it would be better.
never had a cap problem at 100 degrees and 110 degree heat index in savannah but i can see it happen, great review johnny and keep all the vids coming b/c i love watching all your stuff
Thanks for the review. I had thought of getting the Timemaster to replace my 21". Most of the yards I mow, I use my 21". I was afraid that using it all day everyday may be a problem. Thanks.
Good review. I have two Exmark commercial 30. Both transmissions are fine for now, but the older unit stripped the ratchets in the wheels. Maybe that is your problem?
I have done multiple reviews on my 2015 Timemaster. Good review. I love mine even with some of the issues I have had. Like you it has replaced my 21 and 22" mowers for the most part. I think there is still bugs to work out and quality control at the assembly plant.
I have gone through 3 transmissions in less than 3 seasons. The self propel lacks power and like you said the cut quality is poor...Honda 21" blows this out of the water with cut quality and durability. I actually started turning down yards where I have to use a small mower since I hate it so much...saves on walking yards and it's one less piece of equipment I have to bring with me and maintain. Good thorough video. Cheers.
Johnny, thanks for your review! I am very curious about the dispersal pattern on the discharge. If you ever get a chance, I would love to see that, does it clump? does is spray even grass 2-6 feet?
Awesome review, im really confused about the timemaster transmission, I've been told 400 hrs by a guy who owns the timemaster and turfmaster, another guy mows comercialy does 12 lawns a day hasnt had any transmission problems he brought it at the start of this season. I don't think it would be reliable enough for my situation wish it had a better transmission, my hope is other company's are going to bring out something similar with a better trans.great video as always thanks.
Thank you for this video I have a commercial company and have this lawn mower, works great if you maintain but have the same problem with the gas coming out can you tell me what exactly you did to fix that problem?
Please see my comments way above, on June 1 2020; I solved it AND the weak fuel flow with very necessary Fuel Filter with an old Honda GCV360 tank, house wired on top of the Toro, and beautifully connected to a NON-ORIGINAL, NOT BRIGGS carb from Amazon, using the $7 fuel cutoff AND hose kit to reach the Honda tank, AND gravity feed like a fuel pump now!!!
Just ran across this video. I own a timemaster and exmark commercial 30 and I can say hands down the commercial units are well worth the money. Much sturdier build, Kawasaki engine, holds 1 gallon of gas, cage around the engine, heavier duty wheels, all around better build. The only thing I like about the timemaster is the personal pace system.
I was wondering is the transmission going out or is the belt stretched and that's y you have to adjust or has the transmission just stop pulling on the one that you have gone threw two transmission.
I must be lucky as far on the transmission I had my Toro timemaster for 3 years with same one..wonder if turning up idle has something to do with them not lasting
Great review Johnny Mow. It takes a lot of guts putting out videos like this when you have trolls out there just looking to put people down. (Jim Davidson and Luke Arnold)
Hi Johnny, IMPORTANT, you are missing the HIGH LIFT BLADES AND BLADE WASHER KIT!!!!!!!!!!!! iT HAS ANOTHER v SHAPED PIECE OF METAL WHICH BOLTS ON, re-using the 2 inner front assembly bolts ob each side. After that, my bagger fills until it is packed tight, instead of damp grass jamming in the chute. THIS is your problem. Have mine since 2013 to now, June 2020!!! Also I just put a Honda GCV360 Fuel Tank, connected with a new $7 Shutoff and Hose Kit and new Fuel Filter. Cap problem AND the weak gravity flow/filter filling issues SOLVED. Tie tie tank in place with 14AWG House Wire in 3 places to the wheel adjuster slots is convenient. For fixing the Hot Start issues, put 1/2" R-MAX foil insulation 4x6" piece, in between the carb and cylinder - smack it with a hammer to fit the bowl first. Finally, get 2 of each control cable, and I just tried soaking a new one in 30W oil in a baggie first. Also, if you wash down the mower, after 5 years I needed to replace ALL the accessible bearings. And I put never Sieze on the belt adjuster, spark plug and ALL exhaust bolts, before they rust solid.
Love your videos! But I'm wondering why you only upload at 240p resolution? Surely your camera is 1080p, 720p at least 480p? When you render your video check your rendering resolution settings. If you need help, send me a message and I'll help you out.
Did you buy your two from a big box store (Home Depot) or an outdoor power equipment dealer? Home Depot and the like get factory second mowers to get their agreed contracted price down. OPE stores get the good stuff.
3 Trannys, 2 mowers, $2500. Was is really cost efficient?? Everyone has there're own opinion and what works best for them. Honda 21" Twin blade very solid mower for a 21", yes its 9" smaller, it may take a little longer to mow, but it wont eat my wallet for lunch. Thumbs up for a good honest review!
i am better at making sure all my mowers are clean and mantained 1 i dont scrape off the grass on the underneath of the mower i wash it and the top of the mower with hose water and i dry them with a echo blower and i dont worry about anything about them and if i do get 2 mowers i dont get the same exact thing i get 1 30in and 1 21 or 22 in but i dont get the exact same thing and i clean the carb myself
Thanks for the review. I had the same issues with grass build up under the deck. I bought and installed the mulch kit with the front baffle and it made all the difference in the world. Also I recommend Repairclinic.com for the transmissions. They run about 70 plus shipping.
BINGO - FINALLY someone else noticed this glaring oversight. Johnny is 100% correct, the Toro Time Master, early units did NOT come with the High Lift (mulcher) Blade and it's new (safer) blade washer kit. Also some 2014 models have a BLADE/MOUNT recall, and there are 2 different kits!!! EXACTLY what I have been running since 2015. Equally important is the Front "V"shaped baffle they give you, , it installs reusing the front assembly 4 inner bolts easily. As my comments above, it went from clogging DAMP grass in the chute (not making it into the bagger) to PACKING the bag with well cut grass. The whole mower has less strain running, and transmission works better too, until the side handlebar Control Cable clip breaks - replace with thick foam or rubber double stick tape cushioning a large new HOSE CLAMP, just pull the sheath tight for run bar control and tighten it down. That cable also broke, so buy a spare of BOTH. I just put my new drive cable in a baggie in the sun with 30W oil in it to prelube it. Also maybe replace ALL the bearings (5 years) you van access, puts less strain on you AND the transmssion!!!
Good review Captain Obvious. Doesn't much tall wet grass? WOW that's new....... LOL Blades gotta be sharp? Another one. OMG, you gotta really push hard on the lever. This video is full of comedy. I do like your common sense comment about deck airflow and the motor/power is fine.
