Or an "obviously" and "pretty much" counter. The NHL needs to buy these boys a thesaurus and maybe let them know they can talk in another inflection besides monotone.
@@ArtGirl82 We can't be amazing at everything, while you may suck at hockey you got skill sitting at your desk judging. While they may suck at interviews they make millions playing hockey, I think they are okay lacking the thesaurus.
In comparison to some others ive seen, he did really well. Seemed charming and explained everything well. Chill to watch, whereas some others are pretty awkward. Well done!
I remember playing in a ball hockey league and someone yelled “Flying V” - everyone on both teams started to laugh. The ref had to stop the game so both teams could recompose.
Happy Gilmore still holds two league records: one for most time spent in a penalty box and he once took off his skate and tried to stab someone with it.
Yeah, the whole "nobody had ever beaten the Soviet Union" entire premise is kinda meh when you know the Canadians actually did win in 1972 vs the Soviet Union in a best of eight games.
He was wrong though the NHL rules say most 5 minute majors come with a game misconduct, including the high sticking one we saw. 5 and game. It gets reviewed to confirm it or lower to a minor
Goon is my favorite hockey movie! I think it's utterly hilarious and a love letter to hockey, especially since it was written by Jay Baruchel, a huge hockey fan. I love that most of the team names are references to the cities they're based in, like Halifax Highlanders for Nova Scotia's Scottish Heritage, St Johns Shamrocks for their Irish heritage, Hamilton Steelers for Hamilton, ON's numerous Steel mills, Windsor Wheelers for their numerous car plants, Quebec Victoraires for Quebec's prideful nature, and Albany Patriots for America's patriotism, plus the cinematography is perfect for a hockey movie
People hated on the mighty Ducks as a Disney owned NHL but they made me a hockey fan for life between that and the animated show cemented the logo into my head for life.
Miracle is very realistic. Coach herb Brooks was the advisor on that film. God Rest his soul he didn't live long enough to see the movie. He lived the movie. Rest in peace coach Brooks.
Back in the 90's when I was younger I got to go to a North Stars vs Blackhawks game at the old Met Center! 2 bench clearing brawls, and goalie fights! Was insane. Loved that old rivalry! But I believe that now it is a huge fine if teams clear benches, which is why you don't see it at all anymore.
I actually like the "if you come on the ice you get a game and fine rule. I dislike the "everyone involved in a 2nd or more fight gets a 10 minute misconduct" rule though. 1 I think helps the game 1 I think goes against what the game is.
I saw a "blue moon bench clear" watching the Flyers when I was a kid. It was awesome. Ron Hextall skated the full length of the ice to pummel the other goalie.
This guy’s mood talking about something he absolutely loves and does for career. Can only imagine what he’s like when talking about something he hates.
Auston: I mean I've never seen anything like this where the whole team sheds their gloves and goes at it. Old timers: Let me introduce you to the '97 Avalanche - Red Wings.
Totally agree! I was thinking "They're doing hockey and no Slapshot??!!" One of the most iconic hockey movies ever. That's 2 minutes in the penalty box GQ sports.
Knuckle puck is inaccurate as while your able to lift it more like it is harder to control and 90% of the time go over the net. I assume you played hockey and know this, but here's the explanation if you haven't.
It's so funny seeing the young guys in the league making meme references, talking kinda normally, etc as opposed to the older guys who are all in hockey robot mode seemingly 24/7
Depending on your region they call it different things (like pop vs soda). I mean he grew up playing in Arizona after all so who knows what they called it
Youngblood was our favorite movie to watch on the team bus. I also don’t know what he was talking about with Miracle. We had to skate ladders EVERY practice. In high school, juniors, college. Like... if I say I’ve skated 10,000 ladders I’m probably low. That scene in Miracle where he makes them skate ladders after the game happened to us IRL, because of the same reasons basically. 3 weeks after that happened, we were in the movie theatre as a team watching Miracle and were just laughing, blown away, we started calling our coach “Herb” after that.
Auston is the most prolific goal scorer we have watched since Brett Hull during the late 80's and early 90's. My favourite team is the Habs, yet I still watch the Leafs games all the time. Just a great goal scorer that comes naturally for him.
fun fact, freddie has being doing that drill with the tennis ball for years. he was playing for my local city in denmark, and you could sometimes see him before the game, standing by the player box, and doing a drill with some tennis balls
When he said no one uses wood sticks anymore made me feel old. Thats all we had when I started playing and when the fiberglass over wood sticks came out we thought those were the greatest thing ever.
Bring him back for Pt. 2, he did a good job, plus funny. And there are still movies to cover like Slapshot MVP (😂) *Whoever has more suggestions drop them below so they bring back Auston!!!!*
