The idea of a small adapter that easily fits in your pocket being capable of helping you set your tightness to spec is a recent development, as far as I know.
We decided to accept the request to give an honest review of one of the makers of these devices and see how it does.
Certainly one DIY application that is common outside of professional applications is torquing the lug nuts / wheel bolts when rotating or changing a tire. Alloy wheels like to be evenly tightened down the right amount to prevent cracking or warping, and also to make sure threads aren't about to strip OR wheel able to work itself loose...
