I can’t honestly say I see it as beautiful. It’s not the ‘real’ Spain is it. I much prefer the northern, north eastern coastline (OK not such a good climate) and inland Spain. Just as with the Algarve in Portugal, the beautiful coastline of the Costa del Sol has been spoilt by massive overdevelopment. Travel inland a bit and you see the true beauty of the Iberian peninsular, and meet some fantastic people. I bet if you asked many Brits who holiday on the Costa del Sol to point at it on a map, they wouldn’t have a clue where it was. Historic Malaga is certainly a great place to visit and stay, but so many of the resorts along the coast do not appeal to me.
