Just binged the entire series today, love it. Any chance of a checklist so we can see everything you've done? Obviously you are going alphabetically, but with all the combo exhibits you've done it's hard to keep track. Thanks!
With regards to what you say about that gesmbok room.I don't think it's too unrealistic.I've been to Singapore zoo before their zebra enclosure is about that size and it's considered one of the best zoo in the world so maybe it's accurate.
Thank you! As long as the DLCs keep landing, I will keep adding new animals to the zoo, until the zoo runs out of money, cannot handle the sheer processing, or there's no more DLC!
Hmm, my understanding of plant coverage was always that literal coverage counted. So instead of spamming tons of bamboo on top of itself maybe a tree with a large tree top would have done the trick? Nothing comes to mind rn.. Think umbrella acacia, but asian temperate/tropical ^^ Unless they changed how it worked, which is totally possible, since they did change some animal's tolerance for greenery I feel. Well, the main exhibit space looks awesome. I really like how the viewing windows turned out. That arch is just too good. Praise be the aquatics pack (I think?)
Indeed! I generally do a lot of base game builds to help out those that don't have specific DLCs, but for this zoo I've gone all out probably using every DLC pack. The aquatic pack faux rocks are seriously the most useful addition in the game. Feel like they really should be in the base game.
Yep, I'm adding staff buildings whenever I think the keepers are starting to have to walk too far from facilities to the enclosures. So far we're up to 12 different work zones!
It's so I don't have to micro-manage the exhibits. If I allow 2 males and 2 females, then set it up so everything else is sold for cash, there'll always be new ones born to keep the exhibits open. If I had it set to allow only 1 of each, there's a risk of them not reproducing and dying out, meaning I'd have to keep checking on those exhibits and purchasing new animals periodically. The zoo is too complicated with all the other species to keep tabs on the exhibits too.
A tree hole is when a large tree forms a hole around the roots, either from the soil eroding away or quite often when the tree falls over and makes a hole where it used to be anchored. So, yes, you need a pretty big tree. You could probably actually replicate them in PZ at least for smaller animals (I'm thinking about the tropical tree branch that lies on the ground + terrain editing) but it would be pretty fiddly.
I love doing this for pangolins! They're tiny anyway and the cherry trees have pretty nice roots iirc. It's too bad pz moved away from giving all trees proper roots. There's always the leafless trees turned upside down though, in combination with the right top tree that would look awesome. I like nestling the ready-made burrows into slightly exposed tree roots too. Bit of shrubbery around and it looks perfectly badger-ready ^^
You sounded so done with the Formosan bears, but I love all the habitats today! So happy the giant anteaters are coming up soon, one of my fav animals ❤️
I put 'my all' into making their habitat! About 6 or 7 hours' work in total, including the stuff I deleted! By the time I was adding the last plants to meet their environment needs, I was very 'done'! First time ever I couldn't see a way to add more other than spamming the place button at the back!
