Torture legal in Wyoming. Man tortures wolf, says, "It was worth it."

Torturing wild animals legal? A man from Daniel Wyoming runs down and runs over a young wolf, a practice often called "yote whacking". The young wolf was injured so badly that it could hardly stay conscious.
Mr. Roberts then bound the gravely wounded animal with duct tape, outfitted it with a shock collar and leash before parading it around for hours at a local bar.
After hours of kissing and hugging the wolf, Mr Roberts then took the animal outside and shot it.
Mr Roberts decision to sadistically torture the wolf for his amusement has ignited a firestorm. After being fined only $250, not for torturing the animal, but for leashing it and parading it around town it would appear torture of wildlife is legal in Wyoming.

Judging by the nature of this incident, the amount of people involved, and the overall attitude of the state, Wyoming has no business being allowed to manage wolves at all!

I would think the main issue here is one of public safety as much as wildlife management. The link between animal torture and serial killers is well established. If not the individual, perhaps the child watching his community reward the causing of pain with attention. But I don’t know if all states have recognized the need to have and enforce animal cruelty laws.

My apologies then sympathetic crusader. Cody Roberts has become the 'poster child' for the abuse of the wolf. Please forgive my quickness to anger at your keeping his name out of this. This incident, while there are many unknown, incensed me. I don't think it hurts to air Robert's name...I guess we disagree on this.

The law and the justice system do a shit about Roberts. Its a shame and everyone should be ashamed to live in a country that lets Roberts get away with it. There can be no reason to justify his actions. You always have to treat animals with respect.
