I am living in Jamaica and this is for $ 196.33 USD I am planning on buying it as I have had a Toshiba laptop for 13 years now as I am a graphic designer and love to use externals. Thanks for your video lesson.

Don't shake it when its operating. Read/write head is only 5 nanometers from platter and you ad random acceleration for it.

I’ve just ordered a Canvio Partner 4TB from Amazon Business. It’s probably exactly the same drive but in a different case. Two things I would not dream of doing would be disconnecting without going through the dismounting procedure and, secondly, move or handle the drive while it is spinning. These things are delicate very precise mechanical devices that are very sensitive indeed to jolts and shocks. In fact the reason that I bought this new drive, which is going to be my new ‘TimeMachine’ Apple backup drive, is that my kitchen was having a new floor the other day and I moved my iMac with two attached external hard drives, loose on its foot, to another room. Unfortunately the 4GB WD My Passport drive came loose from its cable and fell to the hard floor from waist height. It is now dead as a Dodo bird. Deader than a dead parrot. No data loss as such, because this was my physical incremental backup and tomorrow evening I’ll set the new drive up and backup the terabyte off the iMac and the other terabyte off my external Photos library all to the new TimeMachine on the Toshiba Canvio drive.

There is a price difference of $10 from the black color to the white, green and red I guess everyone picks the standard black color mostly and they charge a premium for them on Amazon. These external drives cannot be used an internal SATA drives when taken out of their enclosure as the PCB on the HDD has the USB 3.0 connector and controller integrated in.

You really shouldn't hold the HDD while you are transferring files and you don't just unplug it from your computer. you have to eject the drive properly then disconnect.

Just saw this! So far so good! I actually lost my flash drive so now this is my only backup source. This thing is one of the best purchases I have made this year. I make tons of videos and needed to back stuff up so it’s been super helpful. The storage space is more than enough and zero issues !!!

Likely made in China like every single stuffs we buy. Corporate greed has given China and the tyrant CCP the money to bully the world and punish everyone who oppose them.

@@timdebaney7167 I paid $58cad for a 2TB Toshiba Canvio Advance back in October 2021 so it should be even cheaper today. The only con about these drives is that they have the spin down feature written into their firmware which make them a little slower when these drives are not accessed constantly, but that does improve the life of the drives and energy savings.

It’s shaking because it’s an analogue drive, it’s spinning in there, unlike a SSD (solid state storage). You shouldn’t be holding it and spinning it around while it’s in use for the sake of the drives long term health. These drives are also more durable for longevity, SSD has a shorter overall lifespan, that’s why when Apple started soldering their SSD hard drives to their laptops people weren’t too happy about it (but still sheepishly but it anyways)

I used to have Sandisks SSD in my computer and it broke😠after a year !!! Toshiba makes good products,👍then I installed a Samsung SSD into my Panasonic laptop and still works after three years😄 SSDs may be faster and more expensive, but they are not durable and they also break

Not a fan of spinning disks in the portable world vibration and drop shock is not their friend and the fact they made the hard drive inside proprietary removing the sata connection and leaving that goofy two hole usb port right on the hard drives mother board the case is just protective and serves no other function. So when the hard drive dies or you want to upgrade you might not be able to and just end up throwing this out Toshiba doesn't want you to "Make use of" their product and upgrading the hard drive inside. Example i was going to buy this 4tb for 90$ pop it's mechanical drive in to my pc swapping out the 1TB SSD i use for my movies/music drive and put it in the Toshiba case and that will not work with the proprietary port.
