I couldn't believe this actually worked for my old laptop that's been lying around for the past 5 years. I really just wanted to get the pictures from the hard drive, but it was pretty cool to see the laptop come to life again. I did not have any Flux, I just used a heat gun on high, in a circular motion for exactly 60 seconds. I did use metal air conditioning tape to shield the parts around the gpu, I didn't think it would work as I put it back together, but it did! Now, all my pics have been downloaded to a flash drive :) thank you!

It is my pleasure my friend also in the future if you want to recover your files just get a SATA to USB adapter and remove the Hard drive and plug it to the adapter and to another PC or laptop and you can get access to your files. amzn.to/3FsLESY also if you used only 60 sec it may not last long before it goes bad, next time keep it for 5min. **This is an Amazon affiliate, when you use my links, I earn a percentage, which helps support the channel🙏.

Thank you very much, yes, I learned about the SATA to USB cable while trying to figure out what was going on with my computer, but after seeing your video, I figured, why not give it a try, and if it doesn't work, that's ok, I'll buy the cable and transfer my files that way. Fortunately, it worked! I let the computer run for about 3 hours with no issues, I don't expect it to last forever, but I was able to get all the files I wanted onto a flash drive. Thanks again! I am mechanically inclined, so it was fun to see what the inside of my laptop looked like!

Thank you brother, that means alot to me. I don't have my RU-vid account connected to my current email address and don't really feel like trying to get it set up. Do you have venmo, cashapp or Zelle? I wanna buy your lunch/send you a tip for your help. I know it's not expected, but you saved me time and money, not to mention my precious photos! It would make me happy to buy you lunch.

I have removed all the screw except for the one that holds the disc drive in because some how they stripped the head of that one during the manufacturing process and I thought I had to remove that screw in order to remove the motherboard but I can see from your video that you don't have to. That screw is the only one left for me to remove as far as I can see yet my motherboard still won't come out. It feels like there is something in that area that is still holding it down. I can't seem to see any other screws that need to be taken out. Any tips?

Now your mother board looks different then mine. That piece in the middle. (Not sure what you call it) mine says ZYE on it. Mine has 4 points. 2 at the bottom and 2 at the top and yours has 3 points 2 at the bottom and 1 at the top. My laptop is L655 bought back in 2011.
