I love how the Total Drama crew used the original character designs for many of the interns and other unimportant background characters. It shows that they wouldn't let those designs go to waste, so they still incorporate them in the final product.

Cody’s prototype design was originally Duncan’s first design, then it got repurposed and renamed Cody.

@@stellarkirbo You can see in the trailer both Duncan's final design as well as the intern design. So there's no way that intern design was Duncan in the promo. The intern design was Cody, he was probably just called Duncan before they changed his name to Cody

@@Robalexe yes, but that ain't Cody either, also it might be Duncan as well since the storyboard of the promo shows, I feel like they just kept these and didn't bother changing for the pilot, because you know- it's the pilot. Still don't know how he thought it was cody

I actually really like Gwen’s old design! I wish they had a season where instead of the main cast they had their relatives come in and compete in the season. Gwen’s old design could’ve been her cousin or something.

I like Gwen's old design too. I like that she's a redhead and wears sandals with pants, and that she's paired with fellow sandal-wearer Geoff. I also sometimes pair this version of Gwen with canon Justin. ^^;

They changed Gwen's old design because it resembled a character from a different series (Joan of arch I think) it was a copyright issue if anything

I think the actual reason for Owens shirt change was that this show was SUPPOSED to air on Adult swim but didn't and ended up with another broadcast company instead. Like if your really think about it, some of the crap that happens in that show definitely makes more sense when you realize it was originally aimed at adults rather than teens

Great vid man. Have you ever done a character derailment/growth video? Where you could talk about every character that had a change to their arc or personality? I think you've touched upon certain points in videos but I don't know if you've done a whole video focused on it. That would be an interesting video, I would love to hear your input.

Ezekiel's camp tv design was influenced into Noah. The similar body type, and Ezekiel was originally going to be sarcastic like Noah. Woulda been better than Ezekiel getting voted out first ever season. (ezekiel is my favorite character)

I like Lindsay's original design, mostly because she wears sandals. ^^ In fact, I'm currently writing a TD fanfic, which is the entire first season with the characters genderbend. Mostly the contestants, Chris and Chef, the interns stay the same. Lindsay's male counterpart Lenny wears sandals instead of boots as a nod to "Camp TV".

Fact: Harold's shirt sticker is a planet actually. Also Geoff's bracelet is blue (before one) and it is on opposite side. Geoff's bracelet is yellow (last one) Also on another side from the old one. Also Duncan's sleeves are on another side (before one) And Duncan's sleeve changed its position later on (last one).

Fun fact: the original winner was gonna be Geoff and the runner up was Leshawna. It was then later changed since Owen was the writers fav (not confirmed that Owen was his fav)
