Marcus represents a new and very long, and awaited approach to the golf swing. This methodology , bypasses all the conventional " positional " golf swing teaching, wherby the golfer would engage the analytical brain, in order to create individual positions, in the golfswing, which leads to manipulation and tension in the arms , which will invariably decoule the clubhead, from the rotating mass. This approach to the golfswing simplifies complexe😢d equations ! Ie using the correct sequence of ground pressures can move one component, which in turn moves anither component . One swing feel can give us all the good stuff, ie lateral side bend, external rotation, shallow angle of attack, forward shaft lean etc. The purest of ball strikes, are felt in the soles of your feet !!!!😊
@chaseblossom
@chaseblossom 7 месяцев назад
Don Parsons in Santa Barbara teaches this. He calls the strike as 'thumping the ground'. It's essentially an ulnar release to get to the ball. Super pure strikes but difficult to learn a new technique as an adult. For me at least.

No, the short game release is a bit shorter, and the driver release is identical to the 3-wood release. Simple as that….lol. Moron.

The key move, is to relax your traps, at transition. If you try and just relax the arms, the reactive brain, will freeze your traps up. The other feel at transition, is to not rotate , but to bend your legs. You will rotate automatically, but through impact and not before : losing your power accumulators and throwing the clubhead away !

I'm really enjoying this lesson. Rotating the club in this manner to square the face feels like a game changer. It allows for better ball compression, and by delofting the club, you can achieve much greater distance in your shots.

Hmmm, so shallowing the club is different for a beginner or a scratch golfer??? If it works for you, that’s awesome.

Great stuff. What do you feel controls the face more in this approach ? Body rotation or the wrist torqing the club? I'm still trying to understand the wrist torque component - seem like you need to max it out, motorcycle grip style, as you begin the downswing. At least that's what it feels like to get the toe-down divot.
@jimper15
@jimper15 7 месяцев назад
Most people probably don't this at all (me). That's why it's flip city at the bottom. Using the wrists properly will "force" you to use the body better if you don't want to hit everything straight left.
@johnnybravo9087

@BEBETTERGOLF

They balance each other out and stabilize the face
@jimper15
@jimper15 7 месяцев назад
This process kind of reminds like when you grip an iron and the face is 45 degrees closed. Then you have to use your body in a way that you hit the ball straight. The toe-down hitting the mat drill is an active way of pre-setting the face closed.
@sirtogii5216
@sirtogii5216 7 месяцев назад
True but the toe deep divots are dynamic, teaching you the required movement of the wrists. Gripping the club with a closed face might teach your body to rotate open but you'll hardly go out on the course playing like that.

Thanks Brendon for bringing Marcus on. I always enjoy his take on the golf swing. I think the one thing that often gets left out of the shallowing discussion is the main benefit, which is that it generates a passive torque that closes the clubface which was modeled by Sasho Mackenzie. For an explanation, watch "Sasho MacKenzie and Chris Como discuss the golf swing", on youtube.
@BEBETTERGOLF
@BEBETTERGOLF 6 месяцев назад
Yeah. I've seen that, it's tough to visualize or explain but shallowing is not just a fad or a "look" it is super important. It doesn't have to be extreme but you really need some amount.

I like this video. I think the main point is that we need to listen (with our sensors) to what is happening to the club when we are swinging, instead of trying to place or force the club off its path. Most people force it because they have too many active thoughts, most of which stem from not wanting to look like a fool. :) Hope all is well, Alan

@tomkoss07
@tomkoss07 7 месяцев назад
Don’t care how much you shallow, if you try to do it as he’s teaching (and demonstrating), you will miss the ball by several feet! GEARS shows that every pro has their arms move vertically down from the top…and it doesn’t require you to pull straight down at the end of the grip (which would steepen the shaft). Anyhow, haven’t heard any other instructor you’ve had on that speaks more gobbledygook than Marcus. And I can’t imagine anyone using many of the “aids” he’s had you using. Not to be disrespectful, but he consistently talks about how it all happens “naturally” and the body organizes itself “automatically” if you do this or that. Nothing could be further from the truth with a person new to golf (especially an adult).
@robzijlstra1277
@robzijlstra1277 7 месяцев назад
And why would you assume that’s how he teaches a beginner? If you’re really interested (doubtful), look up GRF Golf beginner lesson. My wife and I both had lessons with his team, and it’s amazing how focussing on natural motion makes good things happen in the swing. I am now 60, became a single figure handicapper this year thanks to them and now hit it as long as several PGA professionals I had the pleasure of playing with in my local pro ams. After having had 25+ years of ‘conventional’ tuition, I would never go back there.
@enriquegarrido1580
@enriquegarrido1580 7 месяцев назад
The hands move forward and down towards your toes an not vertical down towards your heel. It is not possible to shallow if you go straight down. The key is in the detail!
@tomkoss07
@tomkoss07 7 месяцев назад
@@enriquegarrido1580you don’t have to, but the hands/arms absolutely can come straight down and you can shallow the shaft! In fact, if you simply lower your arms vertically without changing the pitch of the shaft (ie pulling at the grip end), the shaft/club are in a shallower orientation automatically. You clearly don’t understand the the kinematics of shallowing!
