THANK YOU T!!! Great vid man, you nailed it! And I have confirmation in the comments, it actually did happen! Adding the pics of the sphinx was great too, I actually hadn't seen that stage since I was at the concert. Anyway, you shared my story well, & I appreciate that very much. 🤘😁👍
@@TheAdventuresofTNT I have many, many stories of seeing shows, & playing them. I'm actually thinking about writing a book, kinda like "The Dirt." That movie was like some of the shit we got into, on a smaller scale, but just as crazy. Not to mention all the stories I've heard from other ppl. Anyway, thanks again, it brought out some joy & fun memories on a blah day. That seems rare in these fucked up days, so just know that it means alot to me. 🤘😎✌ Catch ya next vid...
Go to 10:45 mark ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-m-NnKfq9y9g.html It was an incredible tour. They hadn't played God of Thunder since the Dynasty (1979)tour I believe so when they whipped this out 10+ years later, it was pretty awesome
Can confirm that YES "Leon" (the Sphynx) did move (the face) and the mouth opened wide and had a weird video screen inside that showed "waveforms" as it sang the last verse. It did bellow smoke from it's nose and shoot fireworks/sparks from it's eyes... the only thing that didn't happen was it didn't destroy the drum set. At the opening of the show, the mouth opened wide enough that first a curtain of lasers shot out before KISS stepped out of the mouth and ran onto the stage. Leon's last big trick was the head/face folded backwards and down and the sides of his head dress turned into flashing lights as the KISS logo rose up from behind the drums. (Yes, me and boys had also smoked some weed and taken peyote as well as drinking peyote tea)
I seen KISS seven or eight times, the first time in 1977. I've seen hundreds of concerts, but that 1977 show is still in my top five best concerts ever!
@@MrJimbojamez obviously nothing will top the 70s kiss lineup but theres plenty of good songs that came out of kiss with bruce kulick in the 80s unmasked era and revenge in the 90s, its still good music no matter what decade
@@warwick5067 I don't mind the newer members, it's just that when they're on the small stage and when they use their older makeup and clothes it just brings me back to the raw dawg days before the massive stage, lights and explosions
I've seen KISS on almost every single tour since 1979 when I was only 8! They've been a major influence in my life and the main reason I became a drummer and started playing in bands. Hell I'm about to go to work at the post office and I'm wearing my KISS Creatures of the Night t-shirt!! KISS RULES!!!!
Awesome. I'm a life long KISS fan and I'm sure it was the acid trip. They put on a show to remember. Gene use to just be raised on a line by himself during this song. My first KISS show is on RU-vid. I didn't film it. We were on stage right half way out about 2 or 3 rows from the floor seats. It was July 6th (I believe it was the 6th) in 1996 in Kansas City. I'm happy to see you're finally experiencing KISS and I hope you enjoy it all. I haven't seen how much you've seen from them but I think you'll like their song Hooligan. It's a nice jam.
Please react to the song" UNHOLY" if you want some of their newer heavy stuff! My son's first concert was KISS! He asked us they take him with us. His favorite songs are "Black Diamond" and "Cold Gin. " But he says, " The aren't really any bad KISS songs." He's in his 20's. This isn't the best version of this! When I saw the 70's Gene do this I thought it was so scary!I was just a child. But a year later I was addicted! My parents thought I was crazy. They were Country music people. And they fell for the whole Satanic Panic! It was worse when my Mom asked me who I had a crush on when I was a teen. I said Gene Simmons! My Mom almost had a stroke! They hated Metal!😂 It never changed my opinion. I see them every chance I get! My entire family love KISS!
I grew up loving this band. I was 6 or 7 when Beth was all over the radio. I had older cousins who loved them and I got into them as a result of early exposure to them. I was FAR too young to attend a Kiss concert. In 1996 (at the proper age of 27) I got to see them with all the original members. That concert is forever burned into my memory. Never had a minute to sit down because there was always something worth standing for to see. That stage show and theatrics is just off the chain. They really did set the bar for live performances. One of my favorite concerts of all time. I find it very sad that addiction pulled Ace and Peter out of the band and I dare say they never really recuperated from all that craziness in 1979. Seemed to loom over them like a dark cloud when the original lineup came back in the 90's. However, I'll never forget them and that show. F*cking awesome.
I know this is an old veiwing of this reaction, but yes I did see KISS (the legend) band in concert once (thank goodness) and they blewed my mind. I was already in love with then since eary 90's when my friends showed then to me...I was hooked bought everything from them. Love the 70's kKISS by far. I saw them as a birthday present when the group came back to gether with their make up on in AZ, Ifg you see KISS live you'll love them forever. Period.
I've been going to KISS concerts since I was 4 in 97. You have to definitely watch them play War Machine in Rio in 1983. Also, Love Gun Live 2000 6/27/00. I was at that concert and just turned 7.
Ive seen them twice. Their Hot in the Shade tour was my very first concert. Yes the Sphinx head did move, but no where near that extent. Lol. Kiss has always been one of the greatest live acts ever. You dont even have to be a fan of the music to enjoy the show. You keep watching more live performances, you will not be disappointed.
Warmachine Love it loud Rock bottom Get all you can take Saint and dinner I stole your love Makin love Shout it out loud She Parasite Hotter than hell Cold gin Black diamond All great Kiss songs
God Of Thunder is kind of Gene's trademark song, but it's written by Paul Stanley. There's a version with Paul singing that's pretty hilarious, it's very uptempo and almost disco-like. The producer, Bob Ezrin, said we're going to slow it down... and Gene will sing it. Needless to say, Paul Stanley was not happy about this. It was definitely the right call, and even Paul agrees to that.
KISS in concert I have seen them live 9 times every time was awsome. You. have got to see them experience them and feel them trust me you will not be disappointed.
The first concert I ever saw was Kiss on their Love Gun tour in 1977 at the Montreal Forum I was 13 yrs old Cheap Trick was the opening act ... & If I remember correctly tickets were $4.00 The show was awesome!! This was at the height of Kiss popularity .. They performed God of Thunderbird near the end of the show with Gene spitting blood ... I didn't see them on the Made in the Shade tour but I saw them on the tour after that which was the Revenge tour in 1992 .. which was also very good, there was no Sphinx behind the drums ... on the Revenge tour, this time Kiss had the Statue of Liberty behind the drums & if I remember correctly near the end of the show Lady Liberty's face falls of to reveal a scull/ skeleton face .... ( equally as freaky as what the Sphinx face was doing) anyway if you get to see Kiss live when their farewell tour resumes .. do yourself a favor and do it , Kiss are Rock n Roll legends.
You went with the bass solo and blood and everything...awesome!!! KISS doesn't get enough great reactions and there is so much to react to.That's from their current End of the Road Tour, which got halted. The tour you were talking about happened 30 years ago. Nice one! Check out Shout it Out Loud from Tiger Stadium in '96
Yeah, I wanted to show Gene's head over the drums on the screen to give a slight hint of what I was seeing 30 years ago. (*that's why I picked this live show, plus it had the best audio & camera angles.) The other song that blew my mind was Lovegun. The firworks popping to the drums, right over my head...it sounded like a machine gun. Amazing show...Not quite as mind blowing as Alice Cooper, or Pink Floyd, but it's up there. 🤘😎👍
Kiss 1979 at Roberts Stadium in Evansville IN. Was the first concert I ever saw. The ticket was a gift from my brother in law for my 13th birthday. I had never seen any thing like it before or since. These guys absolutely put on the best performance I've ever seen. It was not just the music it was a performance. Gene, blew fire and spit blood, so much blood that he threw out several towels soaked with blood. I was on the stadium floor and I was ducking for cover so one of those bloody towels wouldn't hit me. Ace, played a guitar solo that was amazing he had rigged his guitar so that one of the pickups slid backward a revealed a blinding white hot light, and in another one of his solos the guitar shot rockets. Peter, got up from his drum kit and walked off stage and came back with about 2 or 3 dozen red roses and while he sang Beth, He passed out the rose to the ladies in the front row. When he did his drum solo his drumkit was elevated hi above the stage. At the very end of the show there was a 20 ft long cage filled with confetti, that rained down on the people on the floor. I can still see this in my mind and I am now 56. When the music stopped my head started ringing and I could not here anything my sister or brother in law were saying. It was the most amazing thing I ever saw or heard in my 13 year old life. I have seen some Kick Ass band in my life but nothing came close to the first. THE HOTTEST BAND IN THE WORLD
Great reaction, I've seen Kiss live approx. a Dozen times. Once without the makeup in the mid 80's and the rest after they put the makeup back on. I've never been disappointed. They bring it 110% every time. Gene use to be strapped into a harness built into his costume and would "fly" up to a platform in the lighting rig with a mike and sing "God Of Thunder" up there. Was a truely incredible sight to see. But seriously all 4 of them would give it their all from the first note to the last.
That LSD will get you every time. Like others have said, the head did move a little and there were lights coming out of it's eyes with explosions, but the mouth part was done with a laser machine. I can definitely understand where the ACID-DUDE was coming from and what he thought he was seeing. TOO FUNNY. Now, this was not the best version of God of Thunder, but I still love that you liked it. Someone did say earlier that the 70's version is the best, but if you can find a live video from the 1996 reunion tour, that is a good version as well. I know because I was at that show and have now seen KISS a few times since. Hope you get to see them after Covid because they are on their final tour..AGAIN. LOL.
The first kiss show I went to was August 31, 1979. It was at the providence civic center in Rhode Island. I was going to an over night camp I knew my dad bought tux for a few friends and mom went and took pictures. Anyways, I made my escape to home and went to the show. The opening band was New England who are an amazing band. There first album was produced by Paul Stanley, real name, Stanley Eisen. I went and that concert was amazing. When I went back to camp the next day, they were looking for me and asked me where I went. I was wearing the KISS tour shirt. Busted. But what a memory...
The band liliac was on the last kiss cruise and members of the band came and watched them play and melody even had a painting with ace freely lesson, they are also scheduled to be on this year's cruise whenever that takes place.
My very first concert was KISS in 1979 on the Dynasty (Disco) Tour when I was 15. It blew me away. I then saw them on the Lick It Up Tour after they nixed the makeup. Another great show. The last time I saw them was 2009 on the KISS Alive 35th Anniversary tour. I took my son who was 12. I picked him up early from school. I kept it a surprise the whole 3 hr drive there. He figured it out when we got a block from the Coliseum and he saw the guys selling bootleg shirts. He screamed "We're going to see KISS!" The smile on his face was priceless. And what a show. Just me and my little head banger!
I don't remember the mouth moving like it was singing, but the head did move around, with spotlights/lasers coming out of the eyes. Very cool. Oh, and if heavier KISS is what you're after, try "Unholy" - ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-SMOwgf5OILw.html (you might want to skip to 2:30 unless you want a better view of the blood-spitting routine)
@@jaypell2.0 Okay....that's kind-of sounding familiar. I mainly remember the eye lights shooting off into the night sky and wondering if any planes were overhead. :D
I had friend who was a stage tech for that tour. The Sphinx was called "Leon Sphinx" and set to sing along with a mouth that would open and close--when it worked. The mouth would open, you would see a laser move around like a sound wave in time with the words. Half of the time that mechanism wouldn't work so it would just move side to side or up and down and shoot the lasers. If you search RU-vid for the Hot in the Shade tour I found some clips that do show it well.
Hot in the shade was a great show and the Sphinxs head did indeed look like it. And alive and sang . These guys are pushing 70 and still do there thing on stage in full battle gear. Amazing to watch.
I went to two concerts during the Monster tour and both were awesome. One was in Lethbridge Alta where they had the huge mechanical spider. It was such a great show. The second was in Calgary, they had to postpone the show due to the bad flood year and it just so happened to be rescheduled when I was there for university. It wasn't as ornate a show, but it was still so amazing! They put on such great shows.
I saw them on the Creatures of yhe Night tour in 1983 just after Vinnie Vincent joined. He stumbled a lot In the platform shoes, but it's my most memorable show ever. The comedy of errors of me and my freinds leading up to and during the show is a long story, but great memories. I saw them again in 2003 when they played with Aerosmith. They went on tour and traded being headliners for that tour, Kiss opened. I learned on the shuttle to the show that Ace had left the band again. My favorite guy, but never did get to see him.
I saw that concert in New Haven Ct. Yes eventually the Sphynk's head kinda moved the mouth opened and you saw the vibrating lines move as the words came out. and I think the eyes glowed too
This was originally on their Destroyer album, years before this & yes I have been to several concerts. My first was in 74; I was 5 it's 2020 now so you know how old I am! Lol.
Go back to the 70's. Man awesome I don't know about this, the concerts back then were unreal, ace his guitar would smoke just to name a few things at those gigs. D DAY DAVE.
my first kiss concert was the Hot in the Shade tour. Yes, the Sphynx did talk and moved during the show. Eric Carr was an amazing drummer who tragically, passed away later that year to a brain tumor. RIP Eric Carr
I never needed drink or drugs for KISS. I got a natural high from being there, seeing my favorite band. The head did move during the concert. But if he was tripping, it amplified it.
Took my wife who grew up in the woods on country music it was her first concert that was in country and the head was moving mouth open laser lights inside ears ringed for days haven't looked through and seen if you've done any of the creatures of the night war machine to me that was there true heavy metal album and I grew up with it kiss
I went to my first Kiss concert in February 2020 in Wichita Kansas. I've been to a lot of rock concerts they were excellent. Kiss was the loudest, the light show was amazing, the explosions the smoke and flames, and the heat off the flames was hot it was very cold outside it felt good. Kiss really is the best concert I've ever been to in my life. You wanted the best you got the best the hottest band in the world Kiss!!!!!!!!❤️💋💯🎸🎤🥁🎹🪐🇺🇲🤩😍🥰📺🚗 All Kiss members voices are amazingly awesome to be admired.
Dallas, you have never seen KISS live. It's not KISS without Ace Frehley and Peter Criss... the original lead guitarist and drummer. What you saw was practically a cover band with 2 original members and 2 replacement imposters (Tommy Thayer and Eric Singer) who stole Ace's and Peter's makeup. They do that so that they can fool people into coming and thinking they are seeing Ace and Peter along with Gene and Paul. I don't know if you were fooled or not... but that doesn't change what they are doing. I'm glad you enjoyed your experience, but this incarnation of the band can't hold a candle to the original lineup. I was lucky enough to see them in 1978 in all their glory.
I've been a fan of Kiss since 1987. I just recieved their '87 Album "Crazy Nights" on Vinyl. In 2016 My Dad and I got to see them on their "Rock The Nation" Tour. It was a great show. All That I thought It would be. I would've loved to see them in the 80's/90s at their peak. Couple Suggestions: New York Groove from Under The Brooklyn Bridge and Black Diamond, from The Midnight Special TV Show. I have tons more to suggest, but will leave You with 2.
Oh message for the guy who recommended it....You know not to use the brown acid right? lol Never ever. lolol I am one of the lucky fans who got that demon blood on me. It was the most excited I have ever been. Nearly passed out. lmao
Put on your headphones and listen to KISS "ALIVE!" straight through. For best results use vinyl!! KISS was my first concert in 1984. I've seen them several times.
I went tosee them only once unfortunately. June 28, 1996 at Tiger Stadium in Detroit. The official kick off to the reunion tour, when they put the makeup back on, and with all original members. Alice in chains on the bill too, epic show.
I've been a hard core KISS FAN since '77 & I was at the Kansas City H.I.T.S. tour, they did come out of the mouth of the Sphinx (nicknamed Leon ;-) BUT I don't remember it mouthing words?(I was 21 & maybe inebriated LOL) Although it did have lasers effects coming out its eyes so...? Oh btw This video that you reacted to was an "end of the road" (new-er). If you want to see them in their prime (& with the original members) you should check out God of thunder- the summit, Houston TX 9/2/77 from KISSARMYHQ (with a Drum solo! ;-)CLASSIC KISS! \m/Thanks
I first saw KISS on the Animalize tour and every tour after until Psycho Circus at Dodger Stadium. Many tours I went to 2 or 3 shows. They always bring it. My buddy and I ran into Gene and Eric Carr before a show and both of them couldn't have been nicer.
I saw the Hot in the Shade tour. The sphinx had lasers out of its eyes and the mouth moved. I think they came out of the mouth to open the show. Dude was trippin
I saw KISS at one of their first shows without makeup in Long Beach, CA when I was around 10. It was my very first concert. Ever. Also my most memorable because my Dad took me to see them.
The tour your Patron saw was the Hot in The Shade tour, and yes, there was a huge sphinx with sunglasses, the sphinx speaks during God of Thunder, that tour was in 1990, you should definitely youtube it!!!
The guy was just tripping from what he took the set up was amazing with the Hot In the Shade tour with all of the lasers that came from the mouth and from the eyes of the Sphinx which were the color green if I remember correctly and also a lot of smoke as the music played certain songs.
I first saw KISS in 1975 and have seen them any time they came close to me. It has been about 25 times over the years and I have NEVER seen them not be fantastic!
KISS' early stuff is heavy as hell...probably up to, and through, Destroyer...I pretty much bailed on em after Love Gun...they went in a direction that I didn't wanna go. The 'Cid trip brings back some memories lol.
KISS is the greatest Rock band of ALL TIME. I saw Hot In The Shade at the Oak Mt Ampitheatre your friend is correct...I think...but its just in line with what Kiss would do....so I think hes right...and I think I remember it as described.
I was born in 68 I've been a kiss Van since 1975 I've seen kiss live 20 times and I'm probably going to New York to see the final show But yes I was at the tour with the Sphinx and I was not on any kind of drug so I can't relate to the person that thought that this thinks was talking But yes if you can see kiss live live that is definitely something that should be on your bucket list they are amazing They are the innovators of every other band you see live today 95% of them copy kiss and say Hey that's a great idea let's do that too
Saw them in Feb, right before lockdown. They still put on a great show. This is suppose to be their last tour so if you want to see them, i would once they start back up again. Stay safe and keep rockin. Really like the reaction videos.
Hey man, got another interesting story for you. I've seen KISS in concert a few times. In 2000 (on their "Farewell" tour) I saw them in West Palm Beach, FL. Then the next day traveled across the state and saw them again in Fort Myers at formerly Teco arena. The show in WPB was flawless. During God of Thunder back then, Gene used to fly up to the rafters on wires, not a platform. After he did his blood spattering and flew up to the platform at the top of the arena, whomever was running the spotlight, fucked up and completely lost Gene. The person wasn't paying attention and had no idea where Gene was. Gene, in total darkness was pissed off! He yelled: "UP HERE, ASSHOLE!!!". Then the spot drifted upwards and ever the professional, he began the song, but you know someone lost their job that night! lol. P.S. I don't believe you've done it yet, but if you could react to Therion, that would be amazing! Hardly anyone does, and they basically invented symphonic metal. Here are a couple of live songs to get you started. Rock on! Therion - To Mega Therion: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-L-RGxhg6psU.html Therion - In the Desert of Set: ru-vid.com/video/%D0%B2%D0%B8%D0%B4%D0%B5%D0%BE-cqkEIMjsHeA.html
Multiple times I have taken friends to their 1st KISS show who either weren't big fans or not fans at all and every single time that person has left the show and the 1st thing they said to me was, "That was the greatest show I've ever seen. I want to see them again."
I was at the hot in the shade tour I have seen kiss a total of 20 times they are the innovators of what an amazing show is If you want to see them you better hurry up Because they are approaching or already in their 70's You will not regret
Seen kiss several times since the 70s. Never a disappointment in the sound, quality of the stage show. The sound was always always on point. The energy from the band was 110% out of this world. Very very well executed from the time they went on was always on time. The show 2 hours of hard rocking music. No time filler in long drawn out sections of talking or solos just plain rock n roll and great theatrical performances. Seen them around 7 times and the last one was the current tour that has been suspended like a lot of tours. I’m sure if they come close to make up a show in this area I’ll make every effort to go see them again. Best show for the buck that’s for sure!
Hey man, this is a late comment and it might be kind of offhand but a popular song I think you should check out is Black Diamond and to do it live as it’s sung by their drummer Peter Criss. Like the 1975 version they have in black and white, you’d like that one a lot I’d bet.
I've been a kiss fan since the 70s, but my mom would never let me see them. I first saw them on their 1st reunion tour, and my mind was blown!! I've seen them many times since then, and they never disappoint!
When it comes to Kiss I tend to prefer the songs that Gene sings. This song is off their Destroyer album. Probably their heaviest song would be Unholy, also sung by Gene. Check that one out.
1st !! Told you you’d Love this one. Try Detroit Rock City. I spent my career working in Emergency Medical Services. I loved it when people would save up all their best drugs for a big concert, do ‘em 30 minutes before the show, and then flip the fuck out. I transported so many people who’d spend big $$$ on tickets, wait months for the big day, then wind up in the E.R. and miss the gig. You poor bastards.... 🤣 Gene always said that the music was really just a soundtrack written for the Show they put on, that was the big thing. 🤘🏻😁🤘🏻
I have seen kiss 5 times. 2008 in Kopenhagen Danmark. 2010 in Malmo Sweden. 2013 in Stockholm Sweden. 2017 in Gothenburg Sweden. 2019 in Berlin Germany. But I never got the chance to see them in Gothenburg this these year. F**k covid19.. Anyway kiss is awesome live!
I know this is late but I went in 2019 to the end of the road tour and it was definitely rockin in fact that was my first time wearing kiss face paint to one of their concerts
I paused at the moment when Gene started spitting blood. A guy my friend knew found out I liked Kiss and his story was "I thought Kiss was a bunch of pretenders! Then, I saw Gene in that green smoke with the blood coming down his face! At that moment I thought Gene you're the man I'm sorry I ever doubted you! I was literally scared!" lol He was a fan of Kiss ever since that moment. He was at the concert because a friend of his and a girl he liked went.
This song, live... 70s through 90, amazing! I cant imagine this song in 1990, with Leonard the Sphinx doing the laser and vocals. And yea, the face moved.. he can search for the vid from the last night of the HITS tours, NY, Eric Carrs last show and relive it
