Yes, according to the rules, updated in 2017, a physio can get sent off and will have to miss at least the next game (more if it's because of violence). However, he or she CANNOT be sent off if he/she is the last medical team official - see Law 5, Section 3:"A medical team official who commits a sending-off offence may remain if the team has no other medical person available, and act if a player needs medical attention". So, if there is just the two medical people there, then the second one cannot get a red, though can get a yellow.
I thought they could still get a red but just for the purposes of a suspension? I seem to remember it being the only time you could give a red card and not have them leave the field of play. I haven't refereed for over 15 years so I may be misremembering or it may have changed.
As a Medical Professional who works in sports medicine, I have been in situations where the ref was not calling me on and my athlete was in serious pain. So I ran on the field without being called on and get a yellow. Sometimes you gotta take one for the team but I always tell my coaches to do my talking in that situation because we dont want me sent off. I will just ignore the ref and go to my athlete on the ground.
If there's multiple physios, they can be sent off until there's just 1 person capable of assisting an injured player If the last physio also gets a red card, he can stay on the bench but his expulsion would be noted in the match report and the team could get fined/punished along with the physio I'm no longer a ref so I'm a bit rusty in these rare situations
Looking forward to a Zealand Norwegian double, as you for sure need to cover the recent VAR protests going on. Tennis balls, race cars, fish cakes ... It's got it all;) On a serious note though, the protests are within reason as the Norwegian FA refuse to bring VAR up to debate. It is a pretty interesting situation to see unfold. The fans are strongly against it and a lot of the clubs have voted against it in membership meetings. Even still, after months of protests in the stands, the FA refuses to bring it up for debate. Would honestly love to see you interview someone about this. Might I suggest a journalist from Josimar (well-respected sports magazine)?
Big support from Germany. At some point you WILL get them. We stopped a soul crushing sell out of the league, that would have gotten rid of everything that stands out in german football for about ~3 million per every Club (36) in the 1st and 2nd League for 10 years. THATS IT. Not only is the thought alone insulting and shows how far detached these people are from reality, from a business perspective its also SUCH A SHI... DEAL and i can only explain it by the DFB going "Oh look, a says ONE billion, give him the signature! then we will have cool investor tooo!!!!"
if you want to talk more about norwegian football you should look into the var protests here, it came to a head today between Rosenborg vs lillestrøm after the mach was canceld after like 30 min played!!
I mean, Im Norwegian so yes, I do watch some Norwegian football. Only Rosenborg matches though, and would have guessed todays Rosenborg "match" would have been the one to get you speaking about Norwegian football.
And speaking of medical staff, Kjetil Knutsen, Bodø/Glimt coach, last weekend forced a player back on after a head injury despite the doctor of the other team (Bodø/Glimt didnt bring their own) telling him that the player should be subbed, and a physio for Bodø trying to tell Knutsen he couldnt decide this. Knutsen then came with stupid comments during the week doubling down, before finally having to back down and apologize this weekend.
@@KeeperoddKnutsen is a nasty piece of work. Systematically pinched Tromsø's staff and players to ruin the club just so they could be the only team in the North.
@@Braddowski Yeah, starting to be quite a few cases with him over the years now. Happy he never came to Rosenborg even if he is a good coach and RBK have been a mess.
if we're worried about physios wasting time when they come on the field, why not just time how long they're on the field for and add that to extra time? isn't that also why extra time is also called injury time?
I do watch a lot of Norwegian top division actually and SK* Brann (not Brann FK) is my local football team. And while you mention Sarpsborg is in relegation, Brann is also in gold contention. The Brann player who got a yellow is our newly made captain Fredrik Pallesen Knudsen.
There was a 2022 MLS game between the Philadelphia Union and NYCFC where Philly’s head trainer gets a red card while administering medical assistance because he got in the face of an opposing player
As a phisio myself the rule in Portugal is that you get sent off and get a whatever match ban and your team pays a fine, but you have to stay on the field during the match in case of an injury to one of the players. But as I said this is in Portugal, don´t know the rule stands in this specific situation.
I believe the first yellow was a result of the physio berating the fourth official before getting on. So he got two yellows for dissent. (His excuse was that being Portuguese, this is how it's supposed to be.)
I'm curious as to what Zealand's opinion on the MLS system is. If a player is down for too long, they have to exit field of play for a minute or two (idk the exact time or rule)
When in doubt, assume Norwegians are going to their cabin. As I've been informed by Norwegian family and friends, that will be correct most of the time. 😂
I love how the referee giving him a yellow for timewasting ended up wasting more time Also does it really make that much sense to send off medical personel
yes, they can and then the cop can arrest and/or tune them up in retaliation. they'll go to court and watch the refs act like laws don't apply to them, cops will claim the same. togciado
This physio needs a heavy ban and warning from the football association, as does his club. And a general stamping out of all the time wasting and general shithousery that goes on within the game with injuries. Players have cramp? Get off the pitch and the physio will treat you, lying down on the pitch should be an automatic yellow. You'll soon find that cramp has been cured! I'm especially ashamed at the abuse of the head injury rules, brought in in the last few years. Again, if its necessary for the physio to come on the pitch, maybe it should indicate the player needs to be subbed off. Maybe that's too harsh but I'm aghast at how rules that have been needed for years in relation to head injury, are brought in and immediately have been abused by the same people they were brought in to help, ie the players (shame on these over pampered young men). And, unless the leg is broken, any more than 6 rolls on the ground should be a yellow.. that would have fucked Neymar's career! This pissing around with injuries is slowly creeping into the women's game too, but I must commend them generally for being more manly about it than the lads..
The referee is entirely in the right here, he does exactly what he is supposed to do and the reason why you can't do what you want ie just get tons of staff sent off each game to waste time is simply because failure to control your staff means the ref can make you forfeit the game. Something that was very close to happening this game as the man refused to leave the pitch. The yellow and red cards might seem silly to you but it's for the ref to show in the report after the game meaning, I warned them, I told them to leave, They refused so I ended the game.
so, you are the problem then if that's how you think, if you don't have player safety first in your mind then you need to look for work elsewhere, you do not have the mental capacity to correctly officiate a match. abusing power is what cops and refs do because they lack power personally, remember that the game will not stop if you the ref is injured either. if you won't care about them, then expect the same treatment back. togciado
@@madsismad9113 Well that's a ridiculous arguement. The game needs to be officiated, you can't run on the pitch whenever you feel like it, it's not about player saftey, nobody is safer because you decided to a pitch invasion as a physio. If someone is seriously hurt the referee will literally always let the physios on, if you're trying to cheat like they clearly did here then you have to be dealt with. You seem to have a lot of personal issues that's not related to football but yea, ref did entirely the correct thing. Controlling your staff IS caring for player saftey.
Day 53 of requesting Zealand accept his destiny as the Penguinz0 of Football youtube and wear a plain white T-shirt for these Zealandism vids!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
@iambicpentakill971 the sides here are "physios trying to help player who is clearly hurt" and "referee who can't take a bit of backtalk" How does eyesight even play into it?
The ref is entirely in the wrong here, in case of actual injuries medical staff need to get there as quickly as possible, and there was no reason to think this wasn't, imagine if this was like the Erikson thing but instead of actually getting meds on the pitch the ref is wasting there time and getting in there way. Obviously his head is huge with power and I wouldn't want him reffing any matches I would be involved in.
Medical staff DO NOT need to get there as fast as possible. They are supposed to walk calmly because they have to be the calmest people on the scene, being excitable leads to making bad decisions
