Totem Tuesday 6 - The Wolf 

In arizona there is a program where the mexican grey wolf also known as ( El Lobo ) which was hunted almost to extinction is now protected and being bread in captivity then reintroduced into the wild . There are currently about 300 mexican grey wolves in the wild. lets all meditate for a little extra help for them thanks. great video Laura as always.

thank you so much for the wolf segment. I had a timberwolve for 14 yrs and I saved him from farmers. He was the best friend and kindest animal . Please keep reminding people of these amazing animals, who can keep a marriage longer than most humans. they are wild but once you understand them you will never have a better companion, body guard and babysitter/horse ride for kids. Keep educating people about nature's beautiful animals.

Laura, I am not sure if I stumbled on this, or was guided to it. I have been shown many times recently that the wolf is my totem, many of my characteristic traits are absolutely aligned with those describe by you and others. I am a natural instructor/teacher, significantly I teach bushcraft and survival. I prefer the company of nature and animals above that of humans. I have served as a soldier, and have had my courage recognised in that career , however the most startling thing that I got from your video, was the connection with the Morrigan..........I have long followed her as my deity , as she is a warrior goddess. I am led to believe that my name, Garon , has wolf associations in its root. Thank you for helping me confirm my gut feeling that the wolf is me, and I am the wolf. Blessed Be. Xxx

I loved this video Laura. Million thanks for sharing. Wolves are near of extinction in Finland. There is less than 200 wolves left in whole country. It is so crazy how media can create such hatred among people also this image that popular culture occasionally feeds to people. Wolf is way more scared of human than humans are scared of the wolf.

I recently participated in an Ayahuasca ceremony and I felt a wolf presence the entire time. I never encountered that before but it was really awakening. I'm still trying to decipher the meaning of the wolf presence but this video makes a lot of sense. I have a new found appreciation for wolves!

That is so true, wolf has always been with, but she was with me at the beginning of my spiritual path, he was was there when I has to face my shadow self & all the darkness I had been running from, she encouraged me onward, she nudged me when I wanted to give up & comforted me during my darkest moments. Wolf was there through it all =)

One was taking my dogs spirit to care for him because he had passed away. the second wolf was protecting me from a evil spirit that was trying to harm me. they were both different and the first one spoke to me the second one didnt. but he didnt need to. i am a lot like the wolf. im so glad that you put this on here to teach me and others.

By the Gods! So much of this resonates with me! Wolf has been around me so much over the past few months; in my thoughts, my dreams, my inspirations psychically and ritualistically. Everything you said, about the duality of wolf (lone and pack member), the teacher, dealing with the shadow side (something i've failed to deal with in the past, in myself) made such sense. Struck me too that there MAY be a connection between wolf and the Tarot Hermit; just a thought. Interestingly, I'm a Norse Pagan and yet I don't have a negative view of wolves. Sure, you have Garmr who is said to eat the Moon (if I remember correctly), and Fenrir who kills Odin, at Ragnarok. But Odin himself had two loyal wolf companions, Geri and Freki (both names meaning ravenous, I think) to stop the "wanderer" from being lonely. Even Fenrir's saga has always had a hidden meaning to me, that of "trust first, and judge later". The Aesir tricked Fenrir, who trusted them, because they feared him (his growing size and power). That is why he bites off Tyr's hand; because he realises that the Gods have betrayed him. To me the message is, do not betray a person with wolf medicine, or it may end badly. I also found the Raven connection interesting. I LOVE Ravens and Crows, and we have quite a few round where I live. They are also sacred of Odin; having a pair called Huginn and Muninn (Thought and Memory), who travel through the Nine worlds, relaying back what they see to the All-father. I'm loving this series and will, as you suggest, check out the Raven "totem tuesday". xxx

My two totems are the Dolphin and Wolf. The dolphin is my social / silly side I find. For me, the wolf as more of a guide on how to run my life-a teacher, protector. I do tend to follow my gut instinct, if I'm uncomfortable-I try my best to get out of the situation and feel safe again. I love and am loyal to my family, I try to be outspoken, but calm at the same time and I try to keep myself sharp and 'with it'-and wolves did help me with all of this from the research I've done and documentaries I've seen. I am really lucky to have the wolf as a teacher-I need that sort of 'tough love' guidance and feel that sort of comfort in my life. I love being alone at times-another lesson I learned from wolves. It's okay to be a 'lone wolf' at times and just be in your own thoughts, something I was scared of-but I'm not any longer.

My first encounter with wolf totem was when I was about 14 and I had a dream of beautiful music and a wolf with crystals for eyes. It was so vivid I painted it. The second was I had a vision of a tan coat wild running towards me in my garden which being young was a bit of a startling experience :)

thank you for this - i've been furiously taking notes about Wolf, i had no idea until this week that it was with me. i had my 1st reiki session and my practitioner said she got a vision of a Wolf and proceeded to list a lot of these same traits and aspects you mentioned. (i hadn't looked into animal spirits for a while but had felt an affinity for raven/crow maybe 5 years ago or so). also she said she saw dancing, happy skeletons when she first started working on me, and saw the word healer written across my chest (i'm not one). anyway, i feel like i have a lot of work to do to incorporate this new discovery, it's really fascinating.

Your pronounciation of Wepwawet is correct amd was meant to imitate the sound made when it barks/yips.He's a grey wolf who precedes the king into battle.Your videos are delightful and I can set your lovely heart at some ease by saying Oregon is moving towards being a no-kill state in regards to wolves,encouraging elk population growth as prey.I'm intending to move to this state later this year,as it's far more pagan friendly,'green',organic and natural.Cheers!

Wolves started in my life about a year ago. I didn't fins the through meditation but they have worked there way into my life. First I get a portrait of a pair of wolves. Then I got a set of books where dire wolves feature heavily. So I started looking into spirit guides and realised the path I needed to take

I've had dreams of running on all fours through a moonlit forest and had an overwhelming feeling of freedom! I was a wolf or wolf-like. It was awesome :)

ps, funnily enough Wolves and Dragons both get a raw time with the Norse. Fenrir the Wolf and Jormungandr (not sure if I spelled that right) the Serpent/Dragon are both children of the trickster Loki, & responsible in part for the death of the Gods at Ragnorok. I do love the connection between Wolves and Ravens though, & Odin is said to have had both as messengers/familiars. Wynn and Friþ! xxx

Actually the term ‘totem’ was derived from the Algonquian word Ototema, or sometimes Nto’tem, or Odoodem which means ancestor, kin or sibling. In many Algonquian dialects it refers to a particular animal or supernatural being/creature associated with a tribe, clan, or band‘s origins. These Ototema is often thought as ancestors, family members, old friends and most definitely protectors or allies. These Algonquian Ototema go far back to the tribe’s, clan’s or band’s origins.

Totems represent parts of who you are. They reflect your qualities and inner power. Most people have 3 to 7 of these. My own totems that most represent me are the Fox, not as big and tough as the other creatures but very clever at solving problems and a little bit sly at times, the Dolphin, a great spirit for passing light, joy, and healing abilities to help others, and the ever changing Phoenix. Animal Spirit guides are not the same thing. They are the creatures who come to you at certain times to teach you life lessons and guide you through difficult situations. I find that the Wolf and the Hawk tend to do that for me.

I LoVe Wolves & totally relate to their lifestyle. Here where I live we have a wolf salutary where they take in wolves that would otherwise be destroyed & through it pains me to see them living in a caged area instead of living free, I can appreciate these people's desire to help my beloved animals. When I was 8 I wake up from a dream and saw a wolf's head floating towards me, it just went right through me and then I fell asleep again. When I was 10 I was getting interested in art and I saw this video on how to draw the wolf, o of recently have ai discovered that the wolf I drew looked exactly the same as the one I'd seen when I was 8. Not to mention the other wolf dream catcher with the same head that I'd taken interest in when I was 5.

So amazing I have had a recent experience regarding both the Raven and the wolf in conjunction I recorded two videos about it called Dogs ~ Asleep Or Awake then a video 2 on the same subject called Hounds or Wolves this video just homed in on the two working as a pair ie ravens and wolves Ty so much for sharing x

I have both the wolf medicine and the mountain lion medicine. They chose me when I was in my 40s, which is typical according to my tribal elders. Mountain lion comes into my dreams more often than wolf, but recently wolf has taken the lead.

Im a Sagittarius,My side of the bed was warm in a cold bedroom like some thing was lying there,then the first dream i had i was fighting a white wolf,then more dreams running through the mountains with wolves.Some years later i was in Belgrade Serbia in the zoo passing time,there was a cage with wolves,i walked up to fence,the was no security fence like in the uk,a wolf came up to me,i was stroking and tickling her through the fence,another guy see this and went near the fence she went mental biting the fence.This year in Greece i dreamed i was bonding with wolves in the mountains again,one day i came from the beach to find a white wolf type husky lying on the balcony out side my apartment door..I had to speak to him and stroke him just to get to my door,i gave him a saucepan of water because i don't really eat meat...He left after.Also i see a good spiritualist in the uk,she mentioned once i had a huge dog with me,i said its a wolf :)

There were, for example, 2 wolves who acted as familiars of Odin, though I know most people think of Loki's child, Fenrir! Love your videos and If you don’t mind answering. I did a meditation to find my spirit animal and a Wolf did come out from the meadows except I got scared. I’m new and deep down I wasn’t expecting. I tried it again and the Wolf came out and a Horse. Are these my spirit animals? Even if they didn’t talk to me.

Interesting to note: Odin is linked with both wolves and ravens. It is said he had two of each. And I must say, upon your mention of the Morrigan, I felt fear. Yes, I fear the Old Crow.
