It’s worse than that. The rest of the band didn’t like the song, they didn’t understand the lyrics. Paich considered dropping the song from the album and save it for a solo project that would come some time later. But perhaps an angel suddenly passed through the studio and had the band eventually cut the song. The rest is history as they say 😊

When I was a kid and this came out, I thought it was "There's nothing that a hundred men on board could ever do". For years until I found out what they were saying I couldn't reconcile what a bunch of sailors at sea had to do with the African Savanah. 😂

Every time I'm in a bad mood I think of the art installation that someone literally put somewhere in a desert in the middle of Africa that plays this song on endless repeat, forever, powered by the sun. And then I chuckle. (And yes, that is a real thing. Look it up!)
