This is by far the best installation video for this toilet. I have the exact model but was running into issues understanding where to mount the toilet hold-downs. I highly recommend this as a pre-installation video for anyone considering this toilet….Thanks a Million!!!
Dude, I applaud you for your review. Im looking at buying one of these and have watched several reviews and videos but your wording and detail was super. I can tell you have a bit of the OCD like all of us greater humans have :) I wish I could hire you to come install one of these for me.
Nice clean bathroom too! I'm impressed the wood floor & everything look well maintained. A clean environment really makes the viewing experience better with this type of tutorial.
Thank you. This was very very informative. You answered so many of my questions that were not covered in the brief multi-language "installation" guide. I don't know what I would have done, if you hadn't created this valuable video.
If you have a standard 12" rough in (your drain location) then it is about 2-1/2 inches from wall at bottom and about 2" from wall at top. So it will depend on your rough in how far away from wall it is.
Excellent video! Is the center of the rough in exactly 12” away from the wall? (Your installed G400 seemed to be at least one inch away from the wall). My rough in is about 11” from the finished wall. I wonder if a G400 would fit without pushing against the wall.
Looking to replace a current Toto seat with the G400. So after a year with this model, how is it going? Anything we should watch out for? Thanks. BTW, the video is so good, I've sent it to my plumber to review.
This is a really great and informative video thanks. The only thing I can't figure out is the deodorizer system. I know you clean that plastic air filter, but surely there's an actual filter that deodorizers that needs to be replaced regularly? I don't see any info anywhere on that
Amazing and thoughtful video. You made sense if the rather cryptic manual that endeavours to get instructions across in the fewest possible words. Did you have any issues with getting the seal between the floor adapter and the actual ceramic bowl of the toilet?? Looks like they just slide together with a gasket in between but I am wondering how to ensure it’s watertight. Thanks again for your remarkable effort here.
The seal between the adapter and floor is just a standard wax ring, that has been used for decades. They come in different thicknesses if you happen to have a flange that is not flush with floor. But they basically just squeeze down when you put adapter on top and screw it down to the floor. The rubber seal between the adapter and toilet itself is made to seal and has a double lip on it so the toilet outlet simply slides into it. To make is slide easier just put some dishwashing detergent on it. I have 2 and they have never leaked.
Old video, but hoping maybe you can assist. Our plumber initially installed our G400 without the toto supply valve. So the toilet was calibrated with the old valve and very different water pressure. I don't know if he re-calibrated it after he returned and swapped in the toto valve (because our homes water pressure was a trainwreck without it) so I've been trying to find information on how to reset it and make it recalibrate. Don't suppose you know how to trigger a new flush calibration?
Great explanation. Thank you! The only thing criticism would be that I got a motion sickness after watching it because the camera was not held steadily. Thanks again.
This is a wonderful video-great job! Two questions.....I find it very noisy ...when sitting on the seat, when lid goes up and down...normal? Also, I live in a condo and I do not have access to a shut off valve...what do I do in an emergency???Any thoughts? Thanks again!
The shutoff valve comes with it. Its connected to the end of the supply line. It is just different. You use a special key to shut it off instead of a normal handle you'd see on a valve. They aren't silent when opening and closing, but should not be excessively loud.
How do you program the user settings? I tried following the directions in the manual, but nothing happens. I hit rear wash, set the position, temp and pressure, then held the button for 2 seconds or more. Nothing ever seems to happen, though. There's no indication that it was stored and when I hit user 1 then wash, it just uses the most previously used settings. Tried to store a user 1 and 2, neither work.
put the nut on top of your wedge anchor before your tap into floor. you could roll over the stem of threads if your not carefull. The nut will take the force of the hammering...
Do you have issues to waste sticking to bowl? It seems like the premist function is useless and I have to clean this after every use ( I never had an issue with my $150 toilet) I’ve read a lot of reviews on Amazon others having same issue. Water level is low so waste sticks to bowl.
Why did you choose to have your water line behind your toilet so you don't have access to it without unscrewing the toilet? What if you need to shut off the water? Isn't that a big pain?
The shutoff is on the other side of the wall, directly below in the basement, easy to get to, so I did not have to go through all the trouble of moving the plumbing. It would be faster anyway to go to basement and shut off the valve because the Toto valve does not have a handle. You have to find the special key to turn it off. Plus remember this is not like other toilets. 2 screws and it slides right out. Does not disturb the wax seal, etc.
My mom had this model installed and the cleaning wand's water pressure seems low, maybe less than a dental waterpik -- even when the remote setting is at max for pressure and the oscillator and pulsing functions are used. Her plumber tried increasing her house water pressure to 80 psi and it did not make any difference. The plumber even noticed that on the remote there was a button setting for "soft" which we clicked off, but still no difference. Do you know if there's a regulator on this model or something that would prevent increasing the pressure? It seems more like a trickle than a blast of water. Sort of defeats the purpose of spending $2000.
I think you either had a kinked line, clogged valve filter, or something wrong with the unit (unfortunately not serviceable, but Toto will send you a new top unit if under warranty. Mine has tons of pressure.
I'd love to see a toilet that instead of body motion or heat sensors opening the lid, a voice sensor was used. "Toilet open", "Toilet close". That way there's no annoying unwarranted openings.
my manual flusher handle broke off the string. , the string ripper off. the unit is out of warranty and they want a lot of money for a service call. it there a way to put a new string for manual flushes, a new , rope to this small handle without removing the whole toilet which to me is a huge job. wish i can easily just install a new rope, string. thanks a lot
