Cheers from Washington, DC! Just want to say I appreciate all of the great content you produce. You’re my favorite Spurs talk show, and the community is a much better place with you in it. I have been a Spurs fan for the past four years, and I learn a ton from your videos, especially on football finance.
gray is a extremely good player, loads of Leeds fans tell me he's absolutely brilliant and be gone next few years ...if we could do 30 mill and include roden we have a terrific player for now and the future ....
@@lesliecrawford783 You know who else looked great in the championship? Eze, Wharton, and Grealish, three players we could have signed for a pittance in the last few years.
It seems unrealistic until a team actually does it and discovers he's world class... Not unrealistic, just a massive risk that levy hasnt had the balls to take for years upon years
Not going to pretend to know as much about the players as you do, but Gray ticks boxes that Vanderson does not. I'd MUCH rather get Gray in. I do NOT want Toney. That is bad news waiting to happen in my opinion. As I've said before, the guy 1. is so arrogant he thought he would not be caught and/or punished for gambling or 2. he is an out and out addict. Either way, that is far too much of a risk for me. I get he is a good player, but what good is he if he gets banned for life for gambling?
Eze looks more of a complete 10 than Maddison. It may be doubling up in one position but if spurs are facing low block defending week in week out then we need multiple options. Madders also played on the right wing at times for leicester so we could potentially play both
And I don't get why we want a striker who exells in his holdup play when we aim at dominating every game. Toney is 28 soon 29. The by far best striker mentioned is Viktor G at Sporting
Yes mate! I totally agree with your doubts about Eze's role & place in the team. For me, he's a gold plated square peg in a round hole, top top player but 68m for a guy with no clear role in the team is crazy to me when we have so many other positions to fill.
@@Flynnly He can't play as an 8 in this system and isn't the style of left winger that we require. He really only fits as a 10 and why pay 60m for an alternative to Maddison?
I don't really understand what the concern is with Eze. Of everything we want from our wingers, he has it in abundance. Our wing play looks brilliant when Maddison rotates out wide, he can beat a man and pick out a pass or get a shot away and we've created loads for Son as a 9 that way. If we put Eze on the LW it means we have a similar/even better suited profile starting in that position and he can comfortably rotate into midfield combining with Maddison and Udogie.
@@jacklane3679 Our wingers in this system should stay wide and get to the by-line... Really not Eze's game. & As the video says, would you drop 70m to have him usurp Madders or play out of position in a "he *can* play there" number 8
Interesting times. Crucial window, great analysis as expected. Would prefer Gimenez come in before Toney...younger hungrier with the requisite skills for EPL
Talking a lot of sense as always Sean . On Toney think Brentford are trying to push up the price like they did with Raya . Have to say I have not been convinced since he came back and looked completely out of touch when he came on for England . He is a ? You summed up my views over Eze perfectly too , how does he fit in ! Keep up the great updates .
If we could get Gray for a net £36m that would be good business, add Eze, Jobe Bellingham and Illing-Junior or Marcus Edwards homegrown issues go away for a not insubstantial £150m. Flip side really like Fuhrich on eye test, Ito great choice, Kephram Thuram would be a really awesome 6 though. Toney at 28-29 is a short term solution but for £40m probably a yes.
Homegrown issues don’t go way especially with players like Iling-Junior who is under 21 this season and won’t count he left Chelsea at 16. You need to have been in the English and Welsh system for 36 months between ages 16-21 and Iling-Junior left 4 years ago he’s only 20,so he won’t count if he returns to England. Jobe Bellingham is 18 he doesn’t resolve homegrown he’s under 21 this only matters for seniors. We have 9 seniors for homegrown you need 8 for the league and we have 5 academy trained seniors for Europe the minimum is 4 so we are fine until we sell under those limits it’s not a big deal. WTF is obsession every year with spurs fans and homegrown dictating our buys.
Decent shout re: Eze. The option that excites me most initially: presuming a 4-3-3, with two 8s (or two 10s?) in front of a holding 6, Eze as one of those two, playing alongside (not necessarily instead of) Madders, perhaps?
At the end of the day, whoever signs on the dotted line will be need to be ticked off by Ange. Trust this man to get the right players, but more importantly, right people in the club. Big up Sean.😊
Second comment (just for the algorithms) why don’t we sign up Bugsy ? She’s more confident and demands that ball constantly. We need some brave warriors with a little more snap in their game!
If Eze comes it would make most sense to play him on the left but Udogie would have to not invert so much and be more of an overlapper. Also much depends on where Ange sees Sons best position or if he could play on the right.
Our defense is great if we can get Leonardo Spinazonola on the left back I know we have Udogie is agressive leaving us with cards so Leonardo will do the job.
Thanks Sean, Ivan Toney would not only gives us goals but he also gives us Sh1thousery and nouse up front. We are a bit too nice! Archie grey may have potential but the money is mad! Hopefully go early with a couple of big signings. Fingers crossed
We will have many more games next season and sales will leave us thinner. Eze crucial as after Maddison injury we struggled. Ditto Richie / Toney. I would prefer Mbeumo or Isak
It is patently obvious Toney has ingrained faults and signing him on mega money with a long term contract is imo. inviting trouble . Spurs already have enough players on their books that do not and will never contribute. So unless clauses in his contract take these things into account I wouldn't pay 10 mil for him .
i thougth the same with Olise. Fills a hole, prefer him to Eze to be honest, he does the basics so well, can ping. a ball too. Move Deki on and get him in!
@@StuartRead-q5w there’s rhyme or reason with what Levy does in the transfer market though…..low balling and missing out on the on the most needed players and breaking the club transfer record on players that aren’t top quality… Is Richi a £60M + player? Eze is….lets see what Levy does with regards a player we know would improve the quality of the team…..
Sean.. thankyou thankyou thankyou for what you said about Eze.. great player but he isnt an 8 or a winger in our system, and then if he plays 10 him and maddison is competing for 1 position! We should be going for Olise!!! Kulu is not a winger in this system and for me Johnson is not a starter
Sean, the major problem is that we need three players to cover what Harry Kane did. Deadly striker, super header at both ends of pitch, fabulous passer.
Whats your problem in England with young players, Messi at 19 was star at Barcelona! 50 million for top young talent now days is absolutly normal! 50 on Gray-40 on Toney,60 on Eze this is 150 milllion.
@sean, I would like you to answer just this one question as it pertains to release clauses. If a player has one, and a club is pursuing said player. What is there to have a protracted negotiation on the release. I understand with Eze as reported that not only does he have that clause, but also a gentleman' agreement that Palace will let him go should a club approach the asking price. If you can address that, I will appreciate it. Baked in the fact Haaland who was way more valuable at the time, City activated his classe, and the club could not do anything about it. And if you may, add Olise because I think Palace recalled him after his release was matched, but found a loophole, and renegotiate to reset said release clause.
Depends on the detail of the clause. Some clauses require payment in full up front. So if the buying team want to get it done fast they have to trigger the clause and pay 100% of the fee up front. Which is horrendous for the uying clubs cash flow and ffp amortisation. So most clubs will approach the selling club and say we will pay the fee but can we negotiate on the structure of the payments. 50% up front rest in instalments or like a normal deal where you pay it off over the life of the contract etc which is why the clubs can negotiate for a while. With Olise, Chelsea triggered it but the player decided to stay and sign a new contract with Palace instead.
I appreciate it. I had an idea those were the steps which leads me to fans lack of knowledge about deals, and while Levy and Co can be blamed in instances, making deals are not like buying a loaf of bread more like buying a house with a mortgage. Keep up the good work, and be mindful of your worldwide audience, time zones and all other factors. Let me throw this in. Don't pay much attention to the noise and those that takes this youtube thing so person gera vitrolic and toxic, and I must agree with you or disagree instead of processing the information that are coming from all angles fast and furious. I will not get into names but you know the suspects. Enjoy the Saturday and a better hair day.
NevOakes....Cape Town.....If we could being Gareth Bale back, why not Luca Modric...Seen him play against Portugal today, bossed that midfield...rolled back the years....His class for sure....Still moves like his still in his twenties....His experience speaks volumes.…..He proves it over and over again....Serial Champions League winner...
@@SpursTalkShow Thanks. Great episode. I agree with you on not getting a bargain striker just to get Eze. Top striker and a winger with more pace than Kulu would be preferred
Do we know the budget? I have yet to hear a realistic assessment of what we will do in this window. We have too many players to move on, and the players we are often being linked with don’t represent enough of an upgrade (Eze aside) for the money, we will buy maybe 2 players folks, stop pretending we are going to ship out 9 players and buy 4-6, not going to happen
True devils advocate Sean! But I believe he is going to be a great player for us and we played 60+ Ml for Richarlison and he has proved to be some what of a Dud!’
No to Gray Yes to Leo Black from our academy, Vanderson or Estobelle(Irish rgt back playing inSeria A) who will not directly block Leo as we have to succession plan each position
I want Toney. Premier league proven, great hold up play, good playmaker from deep, good finisher, great penalty taker. If they're making the bid, Ange is for it already!
Eze get it done.tony if his attitude is right and wants to play 4 spurs and not him self 100% getting rid of one or 2of our main ones who want out will pay for Eze good stream mate.
Players coming in will be approved by Ange, what i want to see is more rotation in our squad. ie. I dont want to see the lies of Dragusin kicking his heels and get disillusioned
I was going to say pay whatever it takes to get Eze but I rate Olise as highly so am torn, don't like Toney, think we need a Gallagher for his energy. Would like McGinn from Villa!
Spurs news is full of n,dombele's contract being terminated this summer and he can go on a free ! A deal is being agreed that i bet we wont hear the details of ( undisclosed as was the aurier & Perisic deals ) in over 50 years of being a spurs fan this is by far the worse mistake the club has made and they have made some right bloopers. Shocking attitude from a player on so much money and couldnt be bother to impress when loaned out so we could have gotten some of the outlay back. Guessing levy will offer him half a season's salary to terminate his contract but we wont ever get to know.
But we are football fans not a money freak doesn't matter how much money gets injected into the club we won't get richer still have to pay for the ticket fairs and your seat so if there's no footballing sucess what is even the point of it we aren't a shareholders who own stock at the club we aren't their customers we are a football fan that's why we support Tottenham Hotspur we want our club to win trophies we want glory that's why we sing songs and chants about Tottenham
@@mapinprasai80 Agree that it’s not what football should be about but when discussing transfers it’s impossible not to consider finances and the impact they have on which players can be brought in. That’s just the reality
I think this guy generally supports Tottenham because he thinks levy is a good business man and he admires and adores his vision and ideas which he aspires for he doesn't know anything about football nor he cares about it all he thinks is how large the stadium is and how much stronger club is financially levy is his biggest idol in his life that's why he is into Tottenham
@@mapinprasai80 Well I can’t speak on behalf of someone else but the idea of only supporting Spurs due to an admiration of the financial side of things seems slightly unlikely. I think a lot of fans keep one eye on the budget when it comes to the transfer window, no? It’s the very thing that determines how much can be spent on players. However, if you prefer to ignore that then I completely get it. It’s not particularly exciting
Gray won't happen,Eze probably will,Toney might,I pray we don't go for Gallagher and Edwards is literally up to us,at best we get 2 of the players you just mentioned
Ivan Toney last 3 seasons at Brentford: 25 non pen goals in 83 games. Last season, 4 goals in 17 games. Hardly the 20+ goal striker people seem to think he is. Pass
We don't want Ivan toney in spurs i have always said am not a big fan about this guy he slow with his feet don't see him run much just want to be fed just like haaland and i don't see us with that quality to feed him with lots of chances especially if we are facing better teams in the league
Too expensive is Master grey ….. Eze and Sokanke !! ….then whoever comes through the door …not bothered as we have a fab defensive unit !! We’ve got Phillips !!….he has got to be in the. Conversation!! Toney …….naaaaaaaa…..too much baggage!! Yep no 6 but ??? 💰?? Nice chatter Bottom line ….for me ….sokanke ….Gallagher then do your Grey stuff if Joe is a go ….its balanced
Assuming we have 120m to spend and selling Emmerson, Hojberg, Spence, Gil, Lo Celso, Solomon, Rodon, Regulion brings in at least 80m (Emmerson and Hojberg would both need to go for around 20m). For me I would bring in Eze (60m), Toney (50m), Gallagher (45m) and Livramento (35m). Brentford , Chelsea and Newcastle all have FFP/ESR issues so I do not see any of them being unachievable. Livramento could be a backup in RB or LB and can play on the wing, i also think Newcastle might be happier selling him and some fringe player instead of having to sell starters. We would have to wait until next summer to get a 6 though.
Hi Sean Do you have any views on straight full back swap with Ajax - Devyne Rensch and Borna Sosa for Djed Spence and Sergio Reguillon. Suits all parties concerned and valuations at parity according to Transfermarket.
Where’s the Casablanca intro gone! lol. Great news to hear. I’d take Gray in a heartbeat. Still unsure on Toney but if we get the 25+ goals and 0 betting version it’s probably a no brainer for the price. Unpopular opinion, I’m not sure what people see with Eze… good player but people seem to think he’s the next coming of (insert superstar here) and like you, I don’t really see where he fits. Not a 6, not an 8, not replacing Sonny off the left… unlikely to replace Madders unless he’s playing the 10 and Madders comes off a wing… 🤷🏼♂️. Got Vanderson on fifa.. he can’t cross, but that probably more to do with my thumb and the Circle button 😂. Big up Sean!
We rather get Olise than Eze, completely agree with U,with Olise we get a younger, much more of a pure winger profile, has a delicious cross on him,Can take on his man,he does have a bias with his left foot but he's not bad with his right, he's exactly where we should be putting in our effort in,we are looking at the wrong Palace breakthrough star
We could loan the 18yr old leeds lad for the season?? It saves money to spend in other areas. We can see how he takes to the prem. If hes no good then we dont sign him at end of loan deal.
Adding Eze ,Gray ,Gallagher ,Branthwaite and a Striker (Ferguson was and still is a hope ,unless his injury is restricting) fills holes, that will catapult the squad on ,if untenable ,then maybe so are the ambitions of the Glory that maters ,silverware on a regular basis ? Adding the youngsters like Ethan Mbappe and Jobe Bellingham to the 'Golden Generation' upcoming, will be pie in the sky, if unable to start showing the mens senior team as regular winners, and consistent contenders? The 4 club trained players named in the squad is the only real sticking point ,if the sales of Spense, Emerson, Lo Celso, Hojbjerg and Rodon can't make up the majority of the transfers shortfall, then some youngsters like Scarlett, Divine, Skipp, Parrott and Veliz are going to have to be added to sale mix, if Ange cannot get them into his squad ?
