Sonny really is an amazing human being. My dad is struggling with a form of dementia so I've had to deal with that for a while, and Son did everything exactly right
So heart warming on the piece you mentioning Son visiting his fan who has dementia. Also, you may have heard of David Beckham visiting Sven Erickson and sharing a meal. I knew Becks was class off the field, but this was special of him to do in Svens last journey. Well done Son and Becks.
Just watched the Sonny video on the South Korea FA web site with the lovely lady with dementia. Had me in tears, even as if was all in Korean. Sonny is a true Tottenham legend by every definition. A true gentleman and of course a world class player. His place in the pantheon of Tottenham greats is secure
I'm Australian and new to all this.have followed ange here.what i find amazing is the small minority of toxic fans.stelios, and savva ,absolutely feral.
The negativity is we have had 25 years of not winning trophies and been lied to by levy.in his words the stadium will be a game changer well we were doing better before the new stadium was build and to be honest we havent moved forward on the pitch compared to say 5 year ago
@@darrenkilbane2613what a negative way of looking at the incredible growth of the club Levy has imagined and then engineered. We were a complete and utter mess when he took us over and if we did win any trophies it was due to a great one-off cup run rather than being able to compete with the big boys financially - and therefore in the league - on the regular. Of course it will be amazing when we do finally start winning big trophies, but it might not change your life as much as you think! 😅 So try to enjoy the journey or your experience will 99.99% misery…
The negativity is by fans who have no idea of how a club is ran. They simply think they can do better. I have been a Spurs fan since Alen Suger. Since they were seen as a club who were happy to finish 10 and maybe win a cup to a club that is now expected to finish top 4 and fight for the title.
Great story about Son and his 83-year-old fan! Most of us have family members who had dementia. You’re right that those glimmers of recognition are priceless. Do Spurs and the PL work with any dementia-related charities?
My view it was a bit of casual racism meant as a joke. Bentancur will learn as he’s an intelligent man. Everyone deserves a second chance and if Son forgives him then case closed It’s not the first time a South American player has made this mistake. I remember reading that it’s often part of the culture. He will learn
Loving the links with J. David. Possibly the perfect fit for Ange's Spurs, and a bargain too. Was reading a piece in The Althetic earlier rating him as 95.4% similar to Benzema. He's a *very* interesting player in many regards and I don't think fans (yet) appreciate his quality.
I'm probably in the minority but I love the new blue top - its extremely similar to my first ever Tottenham shirt I got in about 1982/1983, proper nostalgia vibes! Great video Ali as always
Watched the Sonny thing on Korean Fa ! Brought me to tears tbh. My nan had Dimentia so it’s also personal to me. As I always say about Sonny ……. “ what a guy “ !!!
I don’t know anything about him but read nothing but negativity, upon doing some googling I thought the same as you. You score 25 goals in multiple seasons, you’re a half decent striker in my book!
@@thespursway9888 no. I’m agreeing with you. If he’s scored 25 goals a season twice in a row… doesn’t sound too shabby to me. This was a counter to what I read online where everyone was being negative about him, whereupon I had a quick google of his name and, like you, I thought “he’s scored 25 goals back to back, that’s decent for any striker, why the negativity?”
@jamescoulter886 If he was offered to us 1 year ago the fans would have been all over it Fans now feel as his price has dropped due to his contract only having a year left on it means he isn't an ambitious signing which is ludicrous to me Actually he just scored the winner in the Copa America😂
@@thespursway9888 yeah I think you’re right. Bit like the reaction to Vicario in a way, just because he is cheaper now than he would have been last year doesn’t mean he’s a bad player. Has he? Nice! I’m all for it!
Thanks for the update , i don't think someone like jonathan david moves the needle , in fact i don't see him as an upgrade to richarlison , the club sold kane for 100m , don't you think it's time to act like a big club and go big for someone like gyokeres ? if city were selling haaland for 100m they wouldn't replace him with jonathan david , they'd go big on a top name , when atletico sold griezmann for 100m , they replaced him with joao felix for 120m euro , that's how big clubs act
Great video as usual Ali! When you mentioned the fly entering despite all the entrances blocked, I half expected an Ali Gold re-enactment of the “Fly” episode of Breaking Bad…
Looking very sharp Ali! Thanks again for your time making these videos. Can’t wait for the new season with hopefully some new players! I’m very torn on the kit, the misaligned collar is bizarre! I know we’ve got an endless contract with Nike but one day I hope we get Adidas on board 🙏🏼
Shouldn't we name a stand after Sonny? He's such an exemplary human being and has drawn millions of new fans to the club-as well as many £millions to the Spurs coffers
I like your enthusiasm and as much as I love Sonny but through the years there have been way bigger legends more deserving than Sonny for a stand named after them. Ledley King, Bill Nicholson, Jimmy Greaves to name 3, are a way more deserving
@@Antec76 Sonny means far more to far more people than the other Spurs legends do Today, there is global reach these days, he is known and loved around the world, many would see it as a fitting tribute to ( my very favourite Spurs player-ever) thus drawing even more visitors and revenue for the Club.
@@Blackbird58 I disagree with yeh premise that a stand should be based on the amount of money or fans a player brought in, may as well name it after the social media admins then. Bill Nicholson is far more deserving, he won us titles and is considered the greatest manager in our history. I love Sonny but your logic is pretty ludicrous, I must say
Sometimes i put you on the tv while i play on my phone :) You're a nice, non offensive man who's clever and good at his job, and you're not as bad to look at as you think either, you deserve the success, we all want you to feel good about it, you're 'Our guy in Tottenham'
Thanks for the new video, Alasdair. As one of the people who watch you on the TV I have to admit that as well as the spooky eyes, I did notice that with your new phone the whole thing seeming brighter with better depth of field. However, on my laptop it looked very dark so I am not sure I know what is going oon. I am currently undecided about the new away shirt and will wait until the third shirt is released and compare all three, since I cannot afford to buy more than one in a season and don’t always buy even one. I hope that the Spurs’ scouting team are casting their net wide during the Euros and watching some of the less fancied teams. For example, I was quite impressed with a number of players on both sides during the Georgia versus Czech Republic game though distinguishing their names was far from easy!
Always good to hear your pov Mr. Gold. The image is certainly sharper. As for transfers... still a way to go. Over a month. Im guessing a lot of agents are likely to take time off over the Euros and be ready when it finishes fresh to see whats the best offers for their clients. As for a striker what type do you think we need - a finisher or allrounder? Cause we have a headless chicken for the pressing (just jesting).
The only players getting over the line right now are from the clubs doing the loophole. Everyone moving slowly cause of the tournament. Everyone just needs to be patient. I would really like solanke to push richie and give him competition
All good lad....looking forward 2 some concrete movements on the transfer front soon...lots of lazy journalism around at mo...me & son follow & trust u...hope your having a good summer!!
Another great episode Ali! Speaking of North American footballers who might be ready to take the next step up, and perhaps I've got my Start-Spangled-Goggles on, but I give you these names: Weston McKennie (Juve), Flo Balogun (Monaco) and Ricardo Pepi (PS Eindhoven). McKennie has (had) fitness issues and I know he was uninspiring at Leeds, but when he's fit he's a stallion in the midfield, a true box-to-box midfielder, strong as an ox and faster than he looks!. Not a classical "6" but any stretch but I think he runs Bissouma very close and potentially has more goals in him. Balugon can play anywhere across the front line, has bags of pace, can driblle and can hold the ball up. Might be a Poor Man's Eze. Pepi is really under the radar. A tall languid striker, a bit of the Berbatov's about him, but with South American pedigree and agression. Ok maybe it's just me, I want an American player at Spurs! But honestly I think all three of these guys would flourish in our system; they have the ability , and they have the character that Ange wants. I say go-for-broke on one of the English stiker options (Toney or Solanke) and then look to bring in players from that next class of options.
Thanks for the update Ali, it seems like a lot of the Spurs channels jump on any transfer rumor just to get views, I would like to think a professional like Johan Lange would keep his cards close to his vest and most likely has multiple candidates in mind …. you don’t go into a car dealership gushing about how much you love the car and then expect the dealer to cut you any kind of deal….
Not gonna lie, Ali, I’ve been waiting for a transfer video so kinda skipped your last video.😅 But it was fun hearing you chatting about Radu Dragusin… and it’s great watching Big Ange as a pundit beside the likes of Wrighty.😊 About your last video, I can’t imagine anything worse than a replay of our last Chelsea game at home.😅 Coys~❤
Lovely sunny day today and the next few days. What about an update walk along the streets around the stadium. The hotel site, planning applications, the health centre, the M media cafe/entrance that we never get to see or hear about, those embarrassing rusty panels above the shop. There must be so much more to hear about. I miss those 'panels' walkabouts!
Villa under Lange were commended for keeping deals under wraps. Maybe that's a factor in the no-news market so far? Also player contracts expire on June 30th usually so maybe 1st July might bring a surprise or two.
Tbh in his first season with Celtic, Rogic played more as a 10 with OReily or Hatate as a 8 and Macgregor as a 6. So Eze coming in can possibly see a Eze, Maddison, Bissouma midfield. Sarr can be molded into a 6 as well. Macgregor was a 8/10 before Ange turned him into SPLs best 6
12:45 A lot of players moved since the Euros started and also they are participating, for example Anton, Nacho, Maatsen etc. I think Tah will be announced soon after, but things progressed well recently
I really hope we get eze and pay the 50 up front. I know the euros don't help . I watch alot of ur videos on my TV When I am getting ready or getting the boys ready . Great video So far coys
A player does look like he’s moving during the euros is maatsen, but that’s probably more to do with chelsea forcing it through for 30th of June (PSR) more than anything else.
Great podcast as always Mr Gold and thanks for de-bunking some of the ridiculous rumours that fill the tinternet but for the love of god we need transfers! Just go on holiday and start the process 😂
Fantastic breakdown as always Ali. Looking forward to the transfer window ahead. The increased resolution looks very nice! What's your device of choice? Cheers!
Theyve finished above us back to back for the first time in around a decade. We were in a CL final and finishing above them consistently not long ago so to now accept weve fallen behind them and can't compete with them doesn't sit right.
These links and reports that are coming out are so uninspiring. If we start the season with the same front three that we had to end the season Ange won't make it. He has said multiple times that the front line must be upgraded. Why would we go and bring in Werner before the window had even opened and we did not know the lay of the land in terms of players who could become available. If this window ends the way the reports are saying it will go then we are in big trouble.
As a Canadian, being linked to Jo David is a bit surreal. Think he’d be a good fit, he often plays off the main no 9 for Canada, links well, scores in different ways. Here’s hoping 🤞
Your new phone has dramtically improved the image; yourbeard looks neat and Mrs Gold could get a job promoting the benefits of Persil - the tee shirt is sparkling. Can she work miracles on Nike shirts too? Now off to watch the South Korean video; Sonny is such a good guy, good upbringing, good parents, creit to him and his immediate family!
Ali, any news or insider information on Youssef En-Nesyri? I read a week or so ago that he could be on our radar and I think would fit Ange's system really well.
100% agree on Solanke. Proven EPL goal scorer, however Richarlison must be sold to free up funds. Still need a number 6 to boss the midfield. Great content again Alasdair.
