Now the "interpreter" has a few cases of his/her own. Hope the person has a good atty.

In South Africa we make use of court interpreters a lot, especially with our 11 official languages. Being a court interpreter is an incredibly important job. Translating word for word is expected at all times. Once went to court as a witness for a patient that was stabbed and died. There was a witness or the accused that was deaf. They had brought in a sign language interpreter to assist. Unfortunately she was not familiar with the need of "word" for word translation. She kept on signing to the person trying to get clarification of what was said. The Magistrate/Judge tried to make sure this was happening, but it could not be done. Eventually he stopped the questioning and delayed the case until this could be sorted out properly. Never called back as a witness, so don't know how it eventually went!

I’ve wondered about that exact scenario. I would utilize a neutral party interpreter as a baseline test for accuracy and solid judicial function amongst all parties involved

@@carriepriegel6477 they have graded audits supposedly yearly but the auditors know all the interpreters and Vice versa… plus a significant amount of interpreting is nuance. There is a huge difference in Cuban Spanish vs Mexican Spanish vs Guatemalan ect.

I know you didn’t necessarily open this up to the group but I would love to see judge manning and prosecutor reiger meet in court. She’s so wonderfully down-home and he seems like he was raised by accountants (respectfully! He seems like a very smart man 😂)

I know people that has happened to. They have to take the name brand. It’s a long fight with the insurance company to get it cleared, but it is real.

Well, I'm sure when he's dealt with people on multiple occasions (and judges don't forget people or faces), where they've committed the same crime over & over! When people in your life do something STUPID multiple occasions, think how you'd feel when it comes to that person! Also, the lawyers just didn't seem like they were ready to argue their case.
