Thank you for watching our ear wax removal video today. The ear wax extraction featured in todays video was carried out using endoscopic microsuction. This procedure uses a small camera called an endoscope to visualise inside the ear canal whilst a small suction tube is inserted to gently remove ear wax.
We can also use other tools to remove hard ear wax, foreign bodies, peeling dead skin or for ear infection removal.
All the ear wax cleaning videos you see on our channel are carried out by our ear wax specialists Mr Rhys Barber and Mr Taylor Green.

Ear wax plays a vital role in ear health. It helps to prevent ear infection and helps with ear cleaning by picking up any dirt or debris that accumulates in the ear canal. Normally this ear wax would fall out of the ear taking any dirt or debris with it.
How to remove ear wax?
Many people use q-tips/cotton buds for ear wax removal at home this is one of the worst things you can put into the ear as this can lead to an increased ear wax buildup or in extreme cases impacted ear wax. The best way to remove ear wax is to let your ears clean themselves and not to put anything smaller than your elbow in your ears!
How do I know if I have an earwax blockage?
If you experience a change in your hearing, discomfort in the ear or jaw or a feeling of fullness in the ear canal you may have an ear wax blockage. Our advice is to speak to your Doctor or local Audiologist who can take a look in your ears and assess whether ear cleaning is needed.

My mother wore hearing aids and totally lost her hearing one day. Took her to the dr and the assistant tried to flush her ears but it was painful and not very successful. Took her to an audiologist who checked and said they were plugged with wax and dried blood and to put mineral oil in her ears for 2 weeks at bedtime….use a dropper and don’t be afraid and use too little. After two weeks my sister and I got a bulb syringe from the pharmacy and flushed them with warm water and all the wax just flowed out. She has good hearing and never wore her hearing aids again.

Those hearing aids are also very expensive! I hope you told her insurance company about the Dr. who prescribed those without getting the ears cleaned first! Doctors like those waste money and make the cost of care more expensive for all.

Home health agencies are even worse especially when they know Medicare is covering. It’s been months since my discharge from the hospital, agencies are still calling citing medical conditions and equipments the are sending. I have to get nasty at times to voice refusals of unnecessary services. Worse, I get the impression some share informations with scammers.

I hope you both go to gym to work on your arms as it takes a lot of muscle to hold your arms upright for long periods. It hurts the shoulders, the arm muscles ache ater a few minutes holding them up, people do not realize that your job is quite difficult, especially when you are adding a camera for our entertainment, so thank you. Both of you are fantastic at your job and explaining what you must do to help your patients.

This one was EPIC! Many thanks to the gentleman for letting you video his procedure, he was a trooper. Thanks Mrs B. for doing this one. You could hear the pump cycling and hear the chirp from it trying to clarinet. Thanks Mr. B for being Taylor's assistant today, he needed someone who could keep steady while holding the ear back. Thanks Taylor for the grit and determination to see it through. I never saw the gentleman flinch, at all! You have very steady hands but that was above and beyond, even with the breaks. Thank you to all of you for sharing this with us, a very much appreciated episode 900.

Nothing but admiration for the skill, and steady hands needed to do this! Gentleman was a star too! He never once flinched while having this done, and didn’t seem to be in any pain! His hands were very relaxed on his lap during filming! Well done, what a relief! Can stop holding my breath now❤️

The teamwork between you two is wonderful to behold! You are both so professional. The patient was as you say "a trooper". I am glad he agreed to be filmed. Seeing the inside and outside action really let me see how skilled an audiologist has to be. You certainly want a properly trained audiologist doing this. I hope the UK tightens their regulations on certification to be an audiologist.

Hair & Wax & Skin! Oh my!!! Thank you Rhys, Mrs B, the wonderful Taylor Green and your awesome patient for allowing us to see the ins and outs of this procedure! I had a resident who was prescribed hearing aids, but said that they didn't work. We finally got someone to come out and check his ears and found out that they were *completely* full of wax! Once they removed it, his hearing was perfect with no need for the hearing aids!

Good grief you two crack me up! When my mom got up in age she complained of not hearing well despite hearing aids. I accompanied her to the ENT she’d seen many times. I asked if he would allow me to look in her ears. Then I asked him how could the hearing aids work with all the wax was covering the eardrum. I hope I didn’t hurt his feelings but I had to speak up. He then cleaned the wax out! 😂😂❤️

Absolutely! Patient advocacy is paramount. So glad you spoke up. Even if his feelings were hurt, he should have known what to do, especially if he was an actual doctor. Should have at a bare minimum, referred your mother to an audiologist to get rid of the wax. Curious what the ENT said to you when you mentioned the wax. Did he end up removing the it?

Rhys did a good job holding the ear open (I can hear my dad yell at me to hold it open as I get lost in daydreams). Finally, I dub thee Sir Taylor the Tenacious. I’ve always known this requires dexterity, but after watching from the outside - WOW - the only way you could tell he was moving at all was to watch the endoscope! Mad, mad skill. So did the gentleman feel that his hearing was still in need of aids after the extractions. Mrs B did a marvelous job with filming and the tank shot and tool and ruler/debis shot done tactfully!! I never thought I’d watch this all at once. Hah! I could not tear myself away. To see the endoscope view through Taylor’s eyes was astounding. Such coordination. I definitely have a new appreciation for how small the instruments really are with this episode. I also now know what you mean about the clarineting, that was very surprising and it made me jump (sounded like a little bird chirping almost). Thanks to your client for allowing you to record this.

That was so fascinating to watch inside then out. The skill shown by Mr Green truly mind blowing. Scary to think that there are people rummiging around inside folks ears after a day's training. Lol from Scotland ❤

What an awesome episode this was! Happy 900th Rhys and Taylor 🎉 It was amazing to watch how you do this, such tiny movements, almost imperceptible at times, look huge on the screen when magnified. Idk how you can do this all day, every day, without your hands, fingers and arms going into spasms. My utmost respect for what you guys do! 💯
