Thank you all SO MUCH for supporting my running journey, and especially to everyone who has helped fund raise! I've put a link above if anyone can spare anything. This is quite scary to share - I'd never been in this situation before and in hindsight, it was possibly silly to continue after CP4, but when you're that far in you're not always thinking straight. Anyway, enjoy the video!
Oh Flora, when you started crying I welled up too. I have been watching your channel for some time and you’re always smiling and upbeat. I know how much pain and suffering you must have been in not only to cry but to show us too. I mean I think it’s grand you did as I think that running is misrepresented as this wonderful thing that’s super easy all of the time, and it’s not. But that’s why we love it. It’s why we continue on. You did so excellently in these races and I am super duper proud of you! Cannot wait for your next adventure ☺️💚🌱🌻
You are a total machine, and should be so proud. This was very real, you kept going no matter what. Despite the tiredness (and everything else) you kept filming and putting one foot in front of the other. I think it is so important to see the struggle, and i seriously felt the fly part. Massive well done!!
Flora, you're always so happy. SO HAPPY!! You have the most chipper mood in so many situations. Seeing you experience so many emotions on the fourth day is so endearing. I have been in the pain cave. Granted, I have never done four marathons in four days, but I know what it's like to just cry. And you're like, "wtf, why are you crying, there's no real reason." But your body just sobs. And you feel so desperate, but you keep moving. I'm proud of you! This was a fun one to watch and you'll have these memories and the knowledge that you did it forever!!
Thank you so much!! Yes I know I often come across as always happy - I'm happy to have shared that it's not always like that! But usually positivity wins 🤗
Absolutely incredible, Flora!!! Well done! I wanted to give you a hug when you started crying but then I had a good chuckle when you said "I need some sugar and some sleep"! Oh the emotional rollercoaster of long distance running :) Thank you for showing us the realities of ultra running. You're amazing!
Not gonna lie, seeing your Instagram stories, I was worried, and now you showed us the trails you were threading while "bonked" and you got me even more worried. I've bonked before and seeing those trails where fainting and falling to the side could be... fatal? I was dying for you to get to safety. You hecking rock! You pushed through and you kept trying to see the beautiful side! Well done, Flora, you're awesome! Thank you for sharing!
Yeah it was concerning at the time but more so after! But I didn't have that much choice tbh - both stopping and continuing meant spending several more hours on the trails trying to get to a road, so there wasn't much i could do! Got there in the end though 😊
Congratulations Flora!! What a beast of an adventure. Thank you for showing us the highs AND the lows. You might have found your "fun" limit, but you haven't yet hit your physical/ mental limits! We're strangers, but I'm so proud of you! I love my 50ks, and look forward to pushing myself farther, and you're a big source of motivation. I'm going to try to donate tonight, if the link still works. Looking forward to your recap!
Thanks so much Kelly!! I always appreciate your comments :) I think I did surpass my physical limit, but a little lie down and that gel did the trick to get me moving again
Oh Flora, you did so well! Congratulations on powering through, you have my utmost respect! Thank you for showing every side of ultra running, not only the fun bits. 💗
Holy crap Flora, that was mighty!! Thank you so much for sharing the lows as well as the highs, was an emotional rollercoaster just watching it so I cannot imagine what it was actually like. Seriously well done though, that was amazing, you really are inspirational, thank you.
Kudos to you Flora for showing the highs and lows of ultra running. You could have easily not included the low point but you put it in, made me emotional too just watching. Reminded me of when your friend Anna went through a similar low doing the Tribe Run for Love that you 2 met at over on TRC. Sleep deprivation is much misunderstood in how it can affect you by many. I noticed how your normal effervescent disappeared as did your usual smile in the minutes leading into that point. Well run on an epic ultra. Sure you must be very proud of what you did 👏👏👏
Wonderful to follow you on this journey. Congratulations on meeting, surpassing actually, your goal and for being so open and honest. Inspiring and motivating!
Well done Flora, these type of videos really are your absolute best content. I've just made a donation to your page. When you started crying I just wanted to reach through the screen and give you a hug 🥰. I'd love to take on most of the multi day stuff you do but this one I think would be a hard pass 😂.
so inspiring! amazing to watch you hit your goal and how powerful to see you feel your struggles and move through them. i’m glad you showed the hard stuff-sometimes struggling isn’t pretty, but it is so valuable and so human! i’ve been there (on a much smaller scale), and getting through those moments is so huge and unforgettable. i don’t look back on them fondly, but i do look back on them proudly.
Awe inspiring. The vulnerability, the honesty, along with your incredible strength. You are a champion! Congratulations! Thanks for sharing your journey with us.
Was excited to see this part 2 video pop up today and I wasn’t disappointed! Many congratulations on a really amazing achievement, especially with the pressure to record a video at the same time, even at your lowest points. The scenery was truly awesome, thank you! You are a great inspiration and always full of positive energy, well done again!
Bless you Flora! You’re incredibly brave and strong for running towards (and beyond!) your limits. 🙌 Thank you also for sharing your vulnerable side. Hope you’re recovering well. X
Your smashing it flora! 💪🏻 I done my first official 50k on Saturday the 4th June. Had planter fasciitis and was in pain after 30k but still finished, took me nearly 7 hours which I was bummed out about. But its all journey and a learning curve. Much love and respect for achieving greatness in your own right.
Wow Flora! What an incredible journey and effort to make it through. It was so hard watching you feel such discomfort and I so wanted there to be someone with you to give you a big hug! Still though a really important a thing to share if you’re comfortable with it, as I’ve been in that state before in different circumstances and it’s so important to realise that you can make it through. This must be an amazing reminder for you to show yourself just how strong you are. 🙌🙌 so incredible and I still can’t quite understand how you were all able to do this 🙌🙌🤯🤯!!
Sorry bit late to the party here! Wowee that final day was a toughy, kudos for pushing through the pain and exhaustion...you're quite incredible! Here's hoping this won't be me at my ultras this year haha
Great content Flora. I think its really important to show both sides of ultra running. It must have been really hard to get the video camera out when you were feeling so down. Just amazing. You really inspire me. I am just starting out on a running journey having just completed my first marathon and now training for my first 50k ultra next year. Maybe one day i can push my limits to a four day event!
Thank you! Thats awesome, good luck with the training, hope you love it! I truly believe everyone can do what I did, I'm not super human! Just takes time and determination 😊
Amazing Flora !! 👏🏻👏🏻👏🏻 Not the best video to watch right before bed. Im all wired up, wanna go running/hiking, push my limits. Thank u so much for sharing this with us viewers, thank you for being real and raw. My fav video 🙏🏻
Just in awe of you and all the other runners who did this! Great video as usual, thanks for sharing your ultra experiences with all the highs and lows. You should be very proud! 😊
Wow…Flora!! First off a massive congratulations on completing it. That last day though!…. You’re such an inspiration to not just fellow runners but to everybody. I know what I’ll be thinking about next time I’m struggling….your last bloody day 🙂 Looking forward to the next vlog
oh Flora, RIGHT IN THE FEELS!!! I just wanted to reach out and give you a hug :( but YOU DID IT!! You may have reached your limits but you pushed through it and accomplished what you set out to do, so proud!
Congratulations Flora you did so so well. Loved it all even the tough parts. Thanks for sharing and for being so real.I hope recovery is going well for you x
Oh Flora, I actually love that you cried, I always cry when I’m exhausted and have given my all. You care & are super brilliant 💛 absolutely beautiful scenery, fuel wise I’ve realised Tailwind definitely works best for me. I’ve recently used Active Root, your fault 😀😂 but it doesn’t keep me fully fuelled. I can use Tailwind and not eat a thing as I always struggle to eat too 🥰
Aw thank you so much, really appreciate it! 🥰 Yes Active Root isn't nutrition, it's electrolytes. I wanna have both! But don't usually struggle with food as you probably know 🙈
@@FloraBeverley I felt your pain TBF saying that you have so much resilience it has reminded me what i used to be like and need to be like again (in the keeping fit world) Merry Xmas and Happy new Year 🙂
F@ck me, Flora! You left it all there in the valleys and summits of the Croatian mountains. Your vlog forces me to paraphrase the old saying "show me the runner after four back to back marathons and I will show you the woman!" You pretty much applied the sporting equivalent of paint stripper to winnow you down to your most basic, most vulnerable core. Not gonna lie, it wasn't easy to view so GOD knows what it was like to be Flora at thar moment and in that space, but hell what pluck, what bravery and honesty to show us the wheels coming off - the meltdown on the mountain, the landslide of emotions, the precarity that is always hope! Flora, when you got back on the trail and picked those feet up one more time determined to get to the end, I tuned into your channel like I have never done before. GIRLFRIEND, you kicked me up the ass to find that boundary point and to exceed it-although you'll never get me to sing along to the showman! You ar.e now Flora of the mountains, the patron saint of trail runners who think they are out of puff but can and do go one more. Good woman! X
Well done amazing achievement, thanks for sharing your ultra experience !!. those scary paths and everything! amazing your very tough and very well done Flora xx
Fantastic effort Flora. At 57 I'm doing my first ultra in the autumn: 58k in the Ardenes and I find you inspirational. By the way it's fine to use the word "bonk" or "bonky" but you really shouldn't follow it with a sentence including "bent over double at the side of the track".
Flora Flora Flora what a fantastic achievement, what you said at the end is so true about looking back and thinking yes I loved it, it was an emotional video to watch so god knows what it was like for you, onwards and upwards to the next challenge 🥰
You really are inspiring!! Thank you so much for sharing the highs and lows, looked bloody tough but what a great achievement. Curious as to whether you preferred this course or the Azores?
@@FloraBeverley I'm in a huuuge rut rn and I just cannot get out of it. I used to run for hours, now I barely run 4kms (since I had covid a year ago my lungs are not the same). Your videos give me motivation to go and run but I'm always getting sad or angry bc I can't do what I did 1,5 year ago🤕🥲 I know you went thru something similar with your injury so I know I CAN get out of it buuut I need to remind myself every.single.day.😆
@@zsofianemeth283 progress isn't linear - you've got all the time in the world to get back to it, covid is no joke! Sorry to hear you're struggling, that must be so tough. Maybe this can be an opportunity to get back to the gym or something that's not cardio? Good luck with it all!
The swelling in the hands was a combo of fluid retention and your heart being really strained from the effort and not pumping as efficiently due to being so tired. I do not recommend viewers continue running if their hands are swollen.
Well done for that great achievement and for sharing everything including the crap and vulnerable times! I enjoy following your adventures, only thing I regret is that the music can be a bit repetitive and invasive. All good otherwise 👍 Hope you recover well and start seeking another challenge soon.
Thanks for watching! Unfortunately no copyright music is hard to come by and doing it wrong can lead to elongated copyright disputes - the more songs, the more issues. But that's my fault for making vlogs 40 minutes long 😬😂
@@FloraBeverley ah ok no worries. I actually enjoy longer vlogs of about 30-40 minutes, I find it frustrating when you find something to watch and it's over after 10-15 minutes or less.
This race/run is tribe run for love 4, if that's what you mean? But there are several other races along the velebit trail. As we ran so far we were in lots of different parts of Croatia, but it was Velebit for the most part
As soon as I stopped running pretty much I could start eating again. The two together was just too much! Will share more about my recovery in my next vlog 😊
