This is quite possibly one of the best things I've seen out of the genre of "touhou themes with the soundfont of a different game", the way you gave it the same structure as Obsolescent Industrial Remains is absolutely gorgeous and helps reinvent the timeless classic that is Desire Drive!
Desire Drive is absolutely a marvel of a theme. Although I seem to remember that in this "fix" I didn't do much, I appreciate your comment, thank you very much!
Great arrangement, Desire Drive was very well adapted to the structure and instruments of The Obsolescent Industrial Remains. I like how this theme got a lot of sweet sounding parts here. The acoustic guitar, flute, chorus and echoing underground feeling make me love it. It was a wonderful surprise when I heard the calm moment at 1:12 and then the energetic melody at 1:24, I loved that. I also loved the way you made everything grow from 2:10 to 2:35, interestingly these trumpets reminded me of the climax of a composition of yours, Melancholic Desires (wait, that has "Desires" in the title lol). Now I go to some critical points in my opinion, comparing with The Obsolescent Industrial Remains. The acoustic guitar doesn't seem audible or prominent (from the bass, in some cases) enough to me from 0:25 to 0:48, from 1:00 to 1:24 and from 2:00 to 2:11. The choir in 2:11 is practically inaudible, while in the target music it is much more prominent. I don't particularly like the trumpet's note variation in its 2:39 appearance. When the transition to loop occurs, everything is excessively high-pitched, it is very out of tune with when the loop starts playing at 3:24. It's still a great arrangement, you were very good on your first "a theme but it's another theme".
Thank you very much. Several structures of Ten Desires could be adapted (also due to the fact that the two themes are in 4/4) Since the feel of Industrial Remains is quite calm, I tried adding a little intensity at 1:24 so that it doesn't lose the original Desire Drive feel so much. The Melancholic Desires thing is pure coincidence, the two tracks share three notes giving power at the beginning of each measure. Well, I still can't seem to edit the guitar similar to the original. At 0:25 I should have increased the volume a little bit, but in the rest of the tracks if I turned it up I wouldn't have room for the rest of the instruments. The backing vocals, I had a little battle with them. I can assure you that I turned them up quite a bit, but because of the mix used in the rest they don't stand out as much as they should hehe. At 3:24 you can understand it, although the only high pitch there is the vocal chorus, the lowest notes I raised them an octave, I guess it was a bad idea. As always, thank you very much for commenting. Your comments are always appreciated, they contribute a lot!
@@KarlZuniga Yes, I understand everything you said. I was more critical on this one because it's something that has a target style of a theme to compare, so it's easier to compare. Some of these points I only realized by comparing part by part of the theme, side by side. That acoustic guitar that ZUN uses in TH18's stage 4 theme... WOW, it's wonderful and very realistic, I imagine it must be very difficult to reproduce. And listening to arrangements or recreations these last few months, I've been thinking a lot about how difficult it must be to edit a sound to be identical to the original instrument and make it stand out well from other instruments, and vice versa, even if they are at low volume or high. I am very happy that my comments are welcome and contribute! I enjoy commenting on such high quality artwork, especially when I know the person who made it pays attention to and appreciates comments!
