I can't believe this game got an update! Usually, fangames are just released and forgotten, but the devs of this game decided to add new spell cards called "Masterpieces"! And I completed them all in less than a day!
They're like last words, but a little less difficult, and more HP. A lot of the masterpiece spells in this game are actually really easy, the only ones I had trouble with were Reimu's, Shounen's, Izuhime's and Mémé's.
My favorite one of them all has to be Reimu's masterpiece. The warping grid of bullets is fun to dodge, and the aimed blue amulets really keep you moving. She also becomes invulnerable during the warping part, so you can just dodge however you want without worrying about damage until she becomes vulnerable again.
The hardest one is by far Izuhime's. That one only took me 24 tries, but it felt really good completing that spell. It's completely static, but the spinning Yatagarasu can hit you, the streams of amulets are difficult to predict because of the triangle shape of the barrier, and she fires waves of rainbow glowsticks at you that are extremely difficult to micrododge through, so you need to find a way around them. The only reason this spell card isn't super difficult is because you can pretty much complete the spell the same way every time.

Kazuha's. Playing sumireko there is very fun, u can almost ignore laser & yellow random bullets at the top of screen :)

yukari’s spell card being the opening for pc-98 touhou games… it took me a while to notice and i like how the developers thought about that, for yukari being one of the sages in gensokyo

I got that game too but never really understood how it works. What surprised me is how they acrually ported it on the switch! I've got to admit though, some spellcards look very nice!

They ported the game to the Nintendo Switch? I had no idea! I never played a bullet hell on the switch... Doing it with a controller sounds more difficult

@@loafofchihuahua I've tried some others on the switch and yes, it's a different experience. I definitely prefer the keyboard over the controller but it is kinda fun to move around with a joystick. ...as long as we play on easy

@@-SV- Playing with a joystick does make it feel more like an arcade game I'm sure micrododging with a joy-stick is hell though

I feel like Yukari's spell card is the best because it's the most appealing and fun. The spell card appearing out of nowhere is a pretty neat suprise. At the same time, I really like Sumireko's spell because I have a liking for spells where the boss guides the player through the rain in a chaotic way, while trying to destroy you. However, the spell reminds me too much of Byakuren's 2nd Spell "Yuugyou Hijiri" from Double Spoiler.

Oh, yeah, I thought Sumireko's masterpiece card looked familiar. I knew it was something from Double Spoiler, but I didn't remember who started it. I also like spell cards where the spell name appears after it's done "setting up"!

"Fantasy Latticework Seal" Kinda boring visually. Watching the bullets spin around is fun though "Gensokyo Blazing Tour" Blazing Star but Marisa goes around you. Very pretty but it doesn't seem that difficult "A Drone Leads the Geese to Water" Seems to be a metaphor since from what I can tell the literal translation would be "A Drone is Led Through Zenkouji Temple". Apparently the temple is linear, so that might be the connection? It's fun watching Sumireko spin around with her clone though the big yellow wheels look a bit unfitting "Spell Cards Attack" It's a reference to the spinning squares around bosses in the old games. I don't have that much to say on this one "Midsummer Anathema Ritual" From what I can tell it's another metaphor since the literal translation is "Midsummer Visit" though I'm pretty sure it's a reference to ushi no koku mairi. Shounen's eelmaku is nice. "Parting from Ludus to Paidia" Yukari only actually casts this spellcard when she's dying. That circle around her looks like a shield, though this isn't a timeout "Duplex Barrier of Shining Crows" Izuhime copying Reimu again smh "閄" Apparently that big annotation is the actual meaning of this character. It's fun to watch the 人s explode "Gun Salute of Ars Poetica" If an encyclopedia can count as poetry, I guess a grimoire can, too? The design is reminiscent of one of Sachiko's spellcards from Glorious and Huge Singer, and come to think of it didn't she use similar eelmaku too? "Sight Maestra" A souped up version of that triangle spell she had. For the final masterpiece, there's not much to say

A good chunk of these spells are really creative, while some seen to be doing whatever. The one in 8:28 is my favorite.

ever sense the update i ended up trying out many of the units but my favorite set up so far has been One that allows screen warping, one that gives a bullet sensor, one that gives a extra charge if you vaccume alot of items, and one that vaccume items on bomb on marisa. its quite a meme build but the results are quite strong and extra stage viable.

Really? You found Duplex Barrier of Shining Crows to be a difficulty of 10? ... I just used Sumireko for that one. I thought it was the easiest of them all.

I'm sure I did the difficult route for Duplex Barrier, but I decided to restrict myself to Reimu since she's the "default" shot type that anyone can learn from Even easier than Mimi's "Spellcards Attack"? I struggled a lot on Izuhime's, but my recording of Mimi was actually my first attempt!

@@okguy167 Did you do about the same strategy as me? I saw one video of a strategy where the player stayed at the bottom of the screen and weaved through the orange amulets when the flat side of the triangle was facing them

@@loafofchihuahua Nope. I went in circles around the boss, following a wave in the large triangle. What gave me the most trouble was spacing for the green bullets, and timing getting around the crows.
