Faith is for the whales!
Yeah, everything about this left a worse and worse taste in my mouth as time was passing. I really wanted to be optimistic about this and look for a salvageable path forward, but taking in the information while going over the JP stream recap, then the livestage happening, then maintenance finishing and finding out the -65% failure that completely botched L0g Sanae's Ability (-65% Effectively Elemental damage instead of 35%, as of this video's upload, still in the game), yeah this is indefensible for me as it stands, and I feel like it probably takes a lot for me to be this critical since I feel like I am fairly easygoing about the game, generally because I enjoy it.
Either way, it's not worth going out of your way to get her. If you want to go for the C5＞ Flandre/Koishi banners because you like/want those and she spooks you, that's a whole other situation, and at least those two are sparkable like any other Epic unit. Should a player pay for this and decide to MLB this unit, or even max out her Luck which is basically 4 MLBs, I have no sympathy for people for going this hard for a unit with a failed Ability effect. I also heard it costs 40000 Yen or $256 (just over £200 for me) just to MLB her, although correct me if I'm wrong.
So yeah, needless to say she won't be treated like any other unit due to the way she is available, and because of the flaws she has, especially as the kind of unit she is as well as the ridiculous issue with her Ability that makes her so insanely weak when it comes to effective damage. Like in the video, it's just painful to use her and whittle down the enemies' HP. No way do I have the sanity to do a Solo Clear with just her in the Trial Quest Stage, especially like this.
Hmmm are there any pros to go over? I guess as a healer, she is good at staying alive. I guess it's funny how for some reason, she just cannot die at all when it comes to enemies with the God Tag (Passive 1 moment), and I guess her Spell Cards can help keep her Yang ATK up, although none on Skills or Ability is a shame. Spirit Power support looks solid too. I guess the CRIT ATK, Yang DEF and Agility buffs could be good for some people. Bind Removal looks nice although C3 Yukari and many other Healers before are great with it. Paralyze Anomalies...5 off the jump, not the most exciting for her rarity I guess. I don't know. For a unit like this, the standards are set so so high if the game is expecting you to pay up for her, when we already have solid healers like the beloved C3 Yukari, as well as other notable ones like E1 Koakuma, S2 Satori and B3 Toyohime, as well as L80 Mokou and Y5 Tewi for their Bind removal on Skills. I guess L0g Sanae also has decent Killers too with insane Hard Scaling on her LW. Would be nice to try it out on enemies weak to Wood and/or Star without that -65% issue in her Ability. Ha. Ha. Ha.
Other issues are probably her lack of Accuracy outside of some Spell Card bullet lines. HP healing isn't so important in this game compared to one like Reverse: 1999 and Barrier Anomaly Healing doesn't necessarily work with units who benefit from anomalies (although other healers are like this to be fair) and that 9 Turn cooldown Skill that includes Barriers, eh. I mean cool looking Skill I guess, and Yang friends may benefit from it, sure. Eh. I don't know with her.
So yeah, I do genuinely feel bad for people who's favourite character is Sanae. I am apprehensive about the idea of a Sakuya variant getting this treatment because I don't know how I will end up getting her, but they better not do this to Mastermind units. Maybe the White/Shiro Festival units could not only appear on future Epic banners, but also come with a 500 Exchange Point Spark on those same Epic banners. Would that be good enough or would a Rate-UP be necessary? Whatever works, I'm all for something to be in place to salvage this mess, because this isn't acceptable. At least her theme is amazing though.
And yes, I did a little trolling in the video. If they won't take the average player seriously with how they went about L0g Sanae, why should I take L0g Sanae seriously? It's fair game after all. :)

It's so L0g Kanakover But man I have attempted her trial quest so many times that the line for her guard passive is ingrained into my brain. Actual meme unit, and the name of her AoE being "defective miracle" (at least thats what it sounds like) is pure irony. On a positive note, I really like that voice option for her.

Seriously though, even if they really want us to pay for a unit, the stupid -65% damage is just completely ridiculous for me to find out the reason why, it’s just absolutely backstabbing. Not only that, White Suwako and Kanako are just in the corner, think about the release of them for me is a dark future for TouhouLostWord. You know what even worst?, it’s goddamn 4 YEARS this game out, and still no news about Dragon Marisa or Smol Yukari that appear wayyy back then. To be honest, I still play TouhouLW in global mostly from the bias I have for touhou, the character are… fine I guess? The design, creative still there, some recent release are powercreep, it’s a gacha game duh( expect you L80 Meiling, you even worst C3 Shion:/ ), but Relic and Genic keep me interest the most, Epic though… expect the F1, C3 is just lazy swimsuit design for me, C5> is mid like just look at them it’s plain pink all the way out:)). Overall, they MUST fix that -65% like seriously what can now? Spark(sort of)? They not like Epic situation back then, it’s pure luck with Seal Crystal to get them, not even rate up so why even bother with the spark, remember they are meant to be pulled with God Crystal so the spark could be here?( aka Money💰💵), I just hope that it’s going to be better for LW, like think about the end of service LW may get just sad:(

I'm genuinely surprised they haven't fixed the -65% damage issue yet despite being aware of it. I'm guessing it will be fixed on the next maintenance, but it's still insulting. Also yeah, I don't know how they will go about Suwako or Kanako, like I don't think it's going to be much better. I'd like to think there will be a time for units like Dragon Marisa or Small Yukari. It also took a long time for W5 Suika so I am hopeful it will happen eventually. And yeah, suddenly C3 Shion being a bad Epic doesn't feel so bad now funnily enough. At least we could get her with Seal Crystals if we liked Shion, but here, I feel bad for people who like Sanae. I do think ways of mitigating this issue is adding a spark (maybe 500 exchange points) as well as have her appear in multiple epic banners. I don't know if it would be with out without Rate-UP but at least it would be a step in the right direction. Also yeah, I don't necessarily want the game to end, but I'm also not expecting it to last forever, and I hope it doesn't go out on a sour note similar to this scale.

Well... I will better save for L80 Froggy. There would be a chance she would be much better than this P2W garbage. Only good thing that L0g Sanae did for me, it was a last call to stop the dark process of me turning form dolphin into whale and motivate me to do something with my crippling gotcha addition. Because even this level of greed is enough for me. And realized how bad it is for me. Thank you Sanae for this wonderful miracle in my life.

I don't exactly know what I expected when it came to rarities, but I didn't expect this. I was ready for their released whenever the time came, but really wanted to be optimistic and think of a solution. While the -65% issue is fixed now, that was initially the moment that cemented the issue for me. As another commenter said, you could buy 4 Nintendo Switch Games with that money

Ah yes, the sanae that is worth your bank account uses your faith so you can in the end realize that being a whale gives such shame so you can go easy on the enemies by nerfing yourself. Congratulations, now you unlocked a friend as a survival kit so you can flex how high your turn count can reach with your *unique* damage. Pay to Sanae, as I'm a sanae fan, to go sanaest to insanae.

Faith is for the rich people! Funnily enough, it used to be possible to go high levels of turns when it comes to stalling, whether it was B5 Reisen's stalling back in the day, or another way for example. Now it's insanae times.

I actually already showed my displeasure last week in two Reddit posts about this White Fes topic, but I really have to say here since I see that she also has a terrible bug. Releasing a type of unit like that in that way is, for me, the worst-case scenario that can happen to you if you go for your favorite character and all of her alts and you're F2P (And in my case, both things happened at the same time, so you can imagine how I felt when this Sanae is Paywalled :( .). And the worst of all, she doesn't have a banner where you can spend SC on it, because she doesn't have her own banner (no spark because no banner who spend SC mainly on her...) and you have to spend GC to have a minimum chance, but it's 600 GC, and I hope it's at least 10% Focus like another banners because otherwise, you're going to spend a terrible time there. Look, I already have the 5 Sanaes in the Global, and I was able to get the 5 copies each alt (Only have 3/5 copies of her L80/Relic version, but I am on the right track), and I was already mentally prepared for when they release SteamPunk Sanae in this month probably (Yay, full Sanae Team!!)... A new type of Unit where you literally cannot focus on obtaining her because she won't have her own banner, without spark, and no dolls to be able to do MLB her (or pay 250 $ to be able to do it, but better for that I buy 4 Nintendo Switch Games) and, you are not even sure of getting the character you want, regardless of the amount of SC you have. Even in another two Gacha games that I play they didn't send me such a destructive Paywall like that. This anniversary Stream was painful for me thanks for that, As someone who loves collecting their favorite character and seeing this done to me, I feel torn inside. Sorry if it was long, but I had to vent. ... I really hope that Sanae W5 has good skills like the rest of the W universe.

I have to agree, the way they went about this was very disappointing. Like this could have potentially been a decent rarity reveal, but bad execution. No spark, no MLB method aside from dupes which obtaining her is already insanely difficult for F2P players, and yeah, would love for this to be changed for the better. For a moment, I was struggling to keep track when you said 5 Sanaes, but yeah it was 5 before L0g and W5. L1, B3, A10, F1, L80, and then L0g and W5. I do feel genuinely sorry for people who really like Sanae, because this is such an unfair situation for people who don't pay, and I am extremely terrified of a scenario where a Sakuya variant meets this fate. The Nintendo Switch comparison is interesting and valid too, because there could be some games people might enjoy there instead of spending money like this. All I hope for is a way for this to be fixed in the future, because this is absolutely a dire situation, and the -65% situation really sold it for me while I was really determined to stay optimistic about it by thinking up solutions. And no apologies for the vent, I like my own walls of text tbf so it's all good! As for W5 Sanae, it does look like she might have a Solo LW when we tried her as a guest unit, and while hopes aren't the highest for her right now, I would still take her as she is over L0g Sanae. But we can never be 100% sure until she actually comes out, so hoping she can still be solid.

Her design was good If white fes doesn't the most p2w rarity ever In the story mode I think the white L0g was the lossy omnipotent white power theme( Light power of lost word ) D8 character omnipotent power was black theme(Darkness power of the lost word) and Lord tsukuyomi (B3) omnipotent power was imperial purple black and gold theme( His malice and evil power )

My optimism is rapidly becoming transient... Why.. her design is so awesome... Her voice is awesome-er... Her spell scards are the awesome-est, so why on earth did they have to make her like this?! Why are they _this_ desperate for money?! Why couldn't these just be more... Reasonable! I don't understand, and I truly, *truly* hope that this was an honest-to-God mistake, you could say that's my only faith... Haha... Only that last one was a pun... It's kind of bittersweet to see this amount of trolling, on one hand, it's funny! Quite silly if I do say so myself! On the other hand, I don't want this to be something to ridicule... I'm not saying that this shouldn't be made fun of, obviously; But I just... Don't want it to be this dire, I don't want the possible L0g Alice (with a hat!) to be behind a paywall or a slim chance in a banner...

Truly faithless times. It really is disappointing. I don't understand it myself, but it's really a shame. I just really hope they make it better, because it is laughably pathetic in my opinion. Yeah, that's understandable, and I'm sorry about the bittersweet-ness. It really would have been a normal video had they gone about her so much better. For me, it was always the -65% issue that cemented this for me, and I cannot ignore this at all. But yeah, I wanted to have fun with this despite the White/Shiro Festival situation. I like L0g Sanae's theme, and I was okay with the existence of this Sanae. Either way, I just really hope there is a light at the end of the tunnel. At least the C5> Flandre/Koishi showcase videos will be more back to normal.

hoo boi this is a whole doozy of a unit. i'll be honest chief i have not touched LW in a hot minute, but at the same time i think i can give a rough idea as someone who i think was fairly decent at the game for the time they've played the game actively. sanae i really do think conceptually has some neat stuff. the domain expansion gimmick is a really cool thing and while the current idea is not that huge of a damage increase compared to say mv kasen and some others, i think it genuinely is a really cool idea and i actually am lowkey excited to see it more. i also do think that sanae's kit in general is actually pretty solid, with decent killers across the board and a pretty good access to elements. in a vacuum, this kit would be absolutely fine. the problem though lies in the fact that units can't be easily seen through in a vacuum, as there are outside factors to always account for. mv kasen comes to mind as one unit, as she has a skill which effectively does as much, if not even more damage than this. her element access is also some of the most common in the game, with star and wood nukers being a dime a dozen from what i recall. there's also some blatant issues that sanae has with accuracy and all that which is an odd decision because i think a vast majority of units at this stage of the game do not struggle with basic things such as yang atk or accuracy anymore. some may struggle with 1 thing, but never is it multiple things at once which makes it such an odd thing to see. in addition to all that, it's that massive price gate. to put it into perspective, it takes an absurd 12000 pulls for a singular, not just multiple, but 1 sanae on average. 60000 cubes for one copy and you cannot even do a limit break afterwards. assuming the average player can get a SFES/UFES spark every month (1250 for clarity's sake), it would take 4-5 years for one copy. add in extra pool bloat and all that, and the price point becomes insane. this is also assuming the average, as it is entirely possible that you can get even higher than 12000 pulls (assuming you even have the coins for that, which i guarantee you even the stingiest of year 1 players do not have that much). with that amount of pulls, i could have easily spent all those pulls on some epics, relics, and other rarities that would have given me a performance point that is significantly lower, for the same results as content does not dictate the use of sanae. this is also exemplified that outside of a vacuum, sanae provides nothing truly unique to the table in terms of power. in order to guarantee a unit who i think is ultimately mid by the standards set by lower rarities (monsters that say mv kasen, renko/shinki, and the like have fully established), you need to cough up around 255 USD in japanese currency, as the price in japan is about 40000 yen. while this is already an absurd price point for a game that's generally pretty generous, i think some people have forgotten that 255 USD is only the price point because JPY is so weak nowadays. if/when this passes through to GLB, i guarantee you that the price point would be at an even higher price point of 400 USD due to how localizing prices work. 400 USD for this performance is not great and i don't think can be justified whatsoever i just have to wonder what came through their minds as they made this decision, as i don't think it was a smart play. i do have a feeling they will run this back decision eventually and say "we're now adding dolls and a spark for this new rarity", but i also do think it'll be a while to milk all the whales they could before doing so. or maybe the game just ends its service. i can't tell, but as much as i do think negatively about the game, i genuinely do want the game to thrive and things like this disapoint me heavily. tl;dr sanae is not a bad unit... in a vacuum. add the outside circumstances and sanae's performance feels extremely lackluster for the price. i think they will eventually add things to make this rarity more appealing like dolls and a spark, but not before the game milks the whales for what they're worth

Based Delta appearance and essay. Yeah, I was happy to see Great Barrier/Domain Expansion as a new mechanic, as those are welcome imo. Also the background change was a nice detail. Funnily enough, one of the more recent units being A13 Seiga struggled a lot with Accuracy, but at least there is the excuse that she is just a FES unit (despite being very good for that rarity overall). Sadly the idea of Accuracy issues still exists with new units but with this Sanae, it's very odd indeed. Oh god, the localising aspect in Global. That would be a massive issue then if they raised the prices (as if it wasn't a big enough issue). Like I am personally very happy with units like LR1 Renko/Shinki, Cz1 Marisa, LM1 Maribel/Mima, etc, and imo C3 Yukari still holds up very well in my opinion, and I managed to get all 4 on both accounts while remaining F2P. I don't know what exactly makes L0g Sanae better than those and/or L80 Kasen that makes it worth going for her like this, even if someone's favourite character is Sanae. I wonder too, and when it came to the Live With Phantasma Livestage, I don't think Phantasma or Michael were particularly excited about the ways of getting L0g Sanae either. Still a bad decision regardless, and despite RU-vid dislikes not being shown, there were still about 2k dislikes on her intro video, which means even JP players are not happy. I feel like I have been genuinely optimistic about the game and for something like this to happen was definitely not great. I still had some level of hope, but the -65% fail just cemented it for me about this issue. Maybe it will be a matter of time for them to fix all this, or maybe they will just wait it out a bit. I would prefer if they really focused on a way to make this more accessible sooner rather than later, but only time will tell with that.

@@Alex_393 delta jumpscare real yeah i edited my comment to reflect what i think is so odd. units missing one or two things? completely reasonable. even some of the strongest units in this game ala c3 yukari when she first launched still had some notable flaw (like lack of anomaly access for breaks), however sanae is a huge anomaly in the fact that she struggles in so many buff types. while her skills are certainly unique, missing fundamental buffs such as acc up or yang atk up outside of SC usage strikes me as... interesting design to say the least considering the price point localization, it's really a scary point to be at in the game. for an anniversary unit, this type of announcement should bring people to their knees with excitement, not on their knees with despair over the game they loved. regarding the dislikes, it would be at around a 33/66% dislike ratio roughly speaking, which is insanely negative for a platform like youtube. the dislikes are also not even a true indication of how many dislikes the vid has as it takes from a database that the add-on has. it is only a guesstimate that is as accurate as it could be. there is a very realistic chance it's an even higher dislike ratio than we see now. at the very least, the other units and the music they posted are fine, so i think it's obvious that the only truly questionable point of anni is sanae's concept as a new rarity and execution of said rarity, rather than the surrounding factors i think optimism is good fwiw. god knows i'm way more pessimistic than the average player should be when it comes to shit like this. to see someone optimistic about the game, even if i disagree, is a really nice thing and i do hope things work out for people who are like that. chin up chief, you're doing your best and that's all people really ask for :illyasalute:

@@deltarune012 Yeah C3 Yukari isn't the best anomaly breaker at all, but no unit is going to be perfect which I am ok with. I wish Sanae had fewer flaws especially given the situation. I was genuinely excited for JP's 4 Year Anniversary, like I was thinking how exciting it would be to watch the JP stream, and I wish I was celebrating it more which is a shame. I think given how there is less incentive to dislike a video now as well as LW videos not usually having a bad like/dislike ratio (afaik), it's really telling imo when despite hidden dislikes, add-ons still show there being more dislikes than likes in this way. But yeah, I could go on a rant about how it's bad they removed the dislikes even though it's years ago, but oh well. I wish the execution with L0g Sanae and the new rarity was handled better, but I'd like to think it's not too late. This is probably the least optimistic I have been about the game in a while which probably isn't saying a whole lot, and I'm sure I will still enjoy other aspects of the game with a bit of hopium too. But yeah, thank you Delta, and I hope things can somehow work out with the game despite the current Sanae situation.

The only way to Limit Break her is by copies of her. No dolls, and copies of her are overly difficult to obtain, especially for a F2P player.

i don't really understand where the -65% dmg came from, but sanae's gotta look real impotent with that info

If I'm not mistaken, I think there was some digging done into the code for L0g Sanae's Ability and it turned out they messed up the effect as it was supposed to be a 35% increase in effective elemental damage, but it ended up being -65% unfortunately.

@@raanyakumo That one maintenance where they fixed another issue with L0g Sanae and the new mechanic was whatever imo, but wouldn't this kind of issue be just as, if not, more worthy of immediate attention? Massive L if this somehow becomes permanent

Because of her being P2W/Whale unit, and there is why (in nutshell): 1. She is definitely a new rarity (White FES), but have no dolls and spark. The only way to fully level her up (MLB) is to get duplicates (4 of them). 2. The ways to get her. First is getting her form C5 Epics banner (Flandre and Koishi), but there is very low chance to get her, also no rate-up there (you need to be extremely lucky to get her). Second, her own dedicated banner that you can pray only with God Crystals (premium currency). And third option is buying special step-up packs with Emas (that unlocks her) from shop with real money (40000 Yen/$256 if you want to fully level her up) 3. Her kit is amusingly weak (for a unit that NN expected you to sell your kidneys for it), that even some other existing UFES healers have better than her.

This needs to change. Not the video, but the character itself needs to be replaced. I would want something like a crossover with Hazbin Hotel or even Precure for this to be replaced. Not to mention, but I would also feel like a L0g Sanae is expensive than getting college. In fact, I would just get the spring units and maybe a different Sanae and a bit of F1 Marisa and L80 Patchoill than this expensive unit that can waste a local Walmart's own discounts in it's entire store. Edit: Also, -65% ability power? W H Y?

Agreed, I'd like for some way of making up for this. There are other solid units to invest in without having to spend extensive money for this version of Sanae. Also yes, they messed up her ability. Instead of +35% effective damage, it ended up being -65 which is why her effective damage is so poor right now.
