Holy shit managed to finish this in time!
I was really busy since the previous song, assignments, and work piled up like crazy. Yet, that itch to do music is like really strong so with like literally 2 days to spare before release, I sketched, arranged, video edited this thingy.
In less than 12 hours, the first copies of TJD will be sold. The wait is over, god I'm so excited for new Hifuu ZUN music like wow.
I wanted to try to do an Akakyu style. His music is so inspirational, so delicious, like oh my god, and if you didn't know Aka participated in Eban's new album ( • 【例大祭21 XFD】御伽幻曲集　～ Dre... ). Lost In Erewhon is such an amazing song, I'm drooling since the XFD dropped. There's an all star cast in this album so please do support!
Anyway, got slightly off track, yeah the itch to compose another Hifuu song is very strong and this is the result. I'm not gonna lie, composing with a real deadline, not really a deadline but deadline to me, is nerve-wracking. The song is meant to evoke a more floaty vibe, not dark or oppressive at all. Like you're walking through a nice calm misty morning. My mental image of this song was that the event at Tanabata Hill the duo experienced, whether Merry got possessed (according to some theories) or whatever, had ended, and now they are walking down the hill with the sunrise.
I'm very very very proud of the major part in this song, it's inspired by a few tracks, yet I'm still very happy. And the chord work here are some of my favourites so far. It's a bit Aka-ish, maybe, idk, what do you think?

Its so chaotic, but the chaotic good mix that all the elements feel like a cacophony of shadows dancing around, its hard to explain it but it just hits perfectly

It's SO GOOD I feel like ZUN will never really use chords as complex as those, as this is literally jazz at this point but since I love jazz I can't complain. It also gives me a lot of study material for my chord progressions bruh Anyway those last piano arpeggios are... wow.

I don't even make music, but having studied a bit of music theory in order to understand chord functions, I cannot tell you how cool it is to see the chords in real time! It's so helpful for identifying fun progressions and talking about them with other fans, I can't thank you enough for adding them in your vids!

So, now that the real thing is out, how do you feel? Because i think its one of ZUN’s best cds, and the general consensus is also that but what do you think? In the 2 days its been out, i’ve already gotten addicted to the themes, so there’s my thoughts.

It's now around 5 days since release and yeah this album is amazing yes! ZUN shines as a musician through his albums when he has more time to polish and work on it. It sounds very live-played in a sense and there's some cool experimentation ie Tinkerbell, chord progressions, tldr it's very cool. I've been constantly using it as my HW music. My personal favourite is still Trojan Green Asteroid, and the rest I can't really rank since I like all the ZUN albums LOL

@@tempura-ochawell my favorite is dipp because you cant beat truly old classic ZUN and the 2nd is possibly a tie between ma and tjd, with ntoj being in 3rd, and my favorite song ZUN has ever made is legend of hourai: beautiful and oriental ZUN? and there’s great rhythm and a piano run? Well all my boxes have been checked What’s yours?

@@cchieffkiefbeff Legend of Hourai just hits different man... RCS's first track is probably my second favorite because it has similar vibes. By the way what did you think about the other tracks? As with friends we react to the tracks every night when everyone's here so I had to stop at track 3

(this is a condensed version of my original comment because it didnt save) *caveman voice* cd good, many song good, that all me have, me not good at talk about me feeling, me want more, me want more zun flavor (the power always in touhou music keeps you coming back and makes you addicted), not many in here cd, but that not bad thing, but me want more zin flavoor *cough* so lets hope that the summer comiket cd (theres bound to be one unless zun is really willing to break that norm) keeps on the roll this one started but also is full of touhou loli power (zun flavor, touhou spice) that this one is kinda lacking (please ZUN make the next CD like Magical Astronomy with at least 7 originals and only 3 arranges, I’ll be honest the originals are what I come here for, the arrangements are nice but unless they’re *BIIIG* (kinda like Magical Astronomy (heh) or these ones sort of) I’m not that interested)
