I like how Accelerator is actually trying to change himself or atone his sin from being a villain that was looking for kindness

Btw I just feel like saying this, but in the dub one of the things Accelerator says during his backstory is “it’s not like I’m seeking immortality. I just want to gather enough post so that NOBODY will ever want to fight me again.” When he says “fight me again” you can hear the sadness.

Accelerator would need to kill 128 Railguns in order to advance to level 6, this was actually said in a previous episode.

It's been awhile But here we go: Episode Notes: To Answer your question the only reason Accelerator needs to kill 20,000 clones is because the aren't the same strength as Mikoto herself. If all the clones were the same power as the Original it would only need to be 128. The #2's ability, (Which I can't say what it is due to spoiling) Is like Accelerator's in that the ability itself can't really have a weaker form he was pretty much born a Level 5 as soon as he went through the curriculum. And Mikoto is #3. That being said the #2 is exponentially stronger than Mikoto and closer to Accelerator himself, so its hard to say how many it would take. Although it should be noted the reason the #3 was cloned is the #3 can form a Network with the Clones so they share experience so when one dies the others still level up, I can't say without spoiling whether it would be possible with the #2. Another thing to keep in mind, (This was explained in Season 1 of Index near the End although the anime adaptation butchered the explanation from the Novels.) That it was part of Aleister's Plan to create the Misaka Network have the Level 6 Shift Project Fail so the Sister's would be spread throughout the world to different labs to get their hormone balance adjusted (Since they weren't meant to last past their expiration date.) So he could spread the Network across the globe and the AIM diffusion fields they produce as part of his plan. (We'll see more hints of his Plan in Index II, but for now just know they explained that if one used the Network to force the AIM fields onto normal people, it would mean anyone trying to cast magic would receive similar backlash to an Esper doing so, but this is just a fun bonus side effect and not ACTUALLY Aleister's Plan, anything more would be a spoiler of stuff that hasn't been covered, for more details you can backread my comments. Notice that Accelerator is irritated that he has to "silence" witnesses, once again he does seem to have some sense of morality about killing people, he simply does some mental gymnastics to see the Sisters as "Not Human" (Which the Sister's themselves do no favors in arguing against that notion.) I'd say that Accelerator actually has pretty good pain tolerance and took some pretty good hits considering their the first hits he's probably taken at all in over a decade. The Dust explosion if you remember in Index they pretty much cut away from How Touma survived it, here he made a mad dash to outside the range of it, but still got the wind knocked out of him, the narration states that if he had been in an enclosed space the pressure might have imploded his body. Accelerator saying he almost died, refers to being at the center of an explosion using up all the breathable air, remember even if he can reflect any attack, he still has the same needs of a normal human body, so a lack of things he needs to live (like Breathable air) Can kill him, in the Sister fight before Touma shows up, a Sister tries to take advantage of this by Ionizing the Oxygen into Ozone, which humans can't breathe. Should be noted that Accelerator in the Novels is like..."Well I can always carry a portable oxygen canister and mask with me" so he can live through a nuke. We also see in this version. (BTW the Railgun adaptation also adapts Light Novel scenes gimped or skipped in the Index adaption if you can believe that...) That Accelerator's "Revelation" when he controls the Wind is treated more like an epitome. And the gibberish he is speaking is not just gibberish, but I'll talk more about that in Index II spoilers. Anyway here we see him actually make what the Novels describes as "The Worse Kind of Mach 7" Tornado. Which is the strongest Wind can blow without it literally peeling your skin off. Touma should not have survived that. The Ball Accelerator is making is Plasma which is a Fourth State of Matter made of Ionized Particles, basically he is pushing the air so tightly electrons are being shaved off which is what a Plasma is. Should be noted while he brags he can control all the Wind in the World, in practice he needs to know the state of the air currents he is controlling, which on a global scale would make any kind of precise control impossible due to running into Chaos Theory and the Butterfly Effect (Which we see the Sister's Exploit.) And the Reason why he temporarily doesn't care about being a Level 6 is the only reason he wants to be Level 6 is so people will leave him alone, as long as he's strong enough that people would consider it fruitless to fight him, then he's fine with that. We also see that touching Scene with Mikoto defending her Sister against Accelerator and her speech, Honestly just re-read my old Comment on the Index version of this fight, it's more poetic and anything I can say her is just recapping that. Finally we see Accelerator's backstory and how the words Touma and Mikoto say get through to him and how he does start to see the Sisters as humans, and he only did the experiment because it would achieve his goal of "No One Getting Hurt" and in the experiment "No One Would Get Hurt" By the Way he already got some of Accelerator's Backstory in Index, but here we see the inciting incident, basically when he was a child at the playground another child innocent touched him while Accelerator wasn't on guard and broke his arm, the incident escalated until AC Military was sent after him, but when he didn't really fight back and everyone saw it was a pointless effort, they backed off. But the Incident left a scar on his heart, and he decided that he needs to close himself off from people because "negative reactions would be punished" but "good actions would be envied and despised" so he wears a mask of apathy and heartlessness, even though we see hints even in this Arc before his Redemption that he cares more then he lets on, or rather he tries to make himself NOT care. But we see that once he accepts what Touma and Mikoto say, that he realizes he killed the Sisters, and notice he isn't so much sad, so much as the Gravity of what he did sinks in, and his certainty shatters, and just before Touma knocks him out, His Illusion was shattered with the phrase.... "What Am I Even Doing?" It's not guilt, so much as genuine confusion, like he's woken up from a bad dream or being possessed, like what would make me think what I just thought a moment ago.... I hope you appreciate that Touma shattered more barriers besides his reflection in that moment. By the Way the remainder of this Season is completely anime original and I'm going to be frank, it messes up a bunch of future plot points, character development, and some of the worldbuilding and lore, all the fans pretend it doesn't exist and even the Creators have themselves basically said...."pretend it never happened" while some of the anime original filler only cause minor timeline errors most of them can be considered pseudo-canon. Not the Next Arc though. It works fine as a standalone story, but in the wider Toaru verse it falls apart, and there is no way to explain how without spoilers, so you'll have to wait and see! By the Way PUNCH!!! That's for not doing the last two episodes real quick before ghosting before University Study? What your actual plans and future more important than watching cartoons for the internet?!? Who do you think you are? On a sidenote I started One Piece Last Year and am over 90 episodes in, it's entertaining but can you tell me at what point the show became your favorite because so far I don't see the hype, but I do find a lot of One Piece fanboys that get mad when I don't worship the show as peak fiction online.

Btw I wanted to remind you in case you forgot but this happens before index I ep 19& 20. In those episodes when accelerator got shot in the head he lost more than half of the calculation power he is using in this fight against touma so the current him (in index eps 19-20) can use only 45% of his previous calculation power. It wasn't explained well in the anime.

For the number of times he'd have to kill the #2 to reach level 6, there's no way to answer that without spoilers. This series never gives you the whole story at once. There's always something it's not telling you, always something more going on behind the scenes that will show up later. Keep past plots in mind as you progress and there's a whole star chart of dots to connect.

You should go rewatch the index fight and see how much they screwed up the fight in the original (no blood etc.)

If we think about it more deeply. It makes sense that Accelerator saw himself as the strongest in the world. since for espers there is no other supernatural power in the world and level 5s are literally the top of the strongest humans. and Accelerator who was number 1 was easily considered the strongest living being on earth. although of course this is because the espers are unaware of the world of magic.

I think this may be mentioned already since im quite late but the reason why accelerator is confused on how touma is able to hit him is because he have a subconscious control of his power and can negate and redirect any object with vector that touches his body. In a normal situation, anyone who punches him should find their arms broken since the force carried by their punch will be redirected back to them.. That's why he was confused since the only time he let his guard down (that sort of def mechanism/reflection) is when he is entirely focusing on something which required most of his brain activity to focus on.

8:12 killing #2 will the difficult for him at this point of time since the power gap between #3 and #2 is ridiculously huge. Idk how many times he would have to kill him but it will be less than Misaka. More importantly if those scientists confront #2 they will probably die instead of getting his DNA map and the reason they chose misaka is because she unlike the other lvl5s is mentally stable if we don't talk about her anger issues. And on top of that she was really young when she gave her DNA map so at that age everyone is easy to manipulate but yeah they didn't want to die so they decided that Misaka is the right choice. Accelerator has never tried to improve his ability before fighting touma he just sits still all the time and let his enemies take out themselfs.He starts to experiment and gets more creative with his ability after touma uses talk no jutsu on him. I woudn't say he will die if he fights #2 now but he might get injured

No accelerator has a very high pain tolerance well definitely session 2 onward and I think that is because of the amount of painful experiments that were performed on him throughout his life

one piece is amazing, but sadly I dropped when the cake island arc was finished and couldn't get back. Now my most favorite franchise is Index, and I do have a lot of favorite anime along with Index, you should check some this season, I highly recommend you "kaguya-sama love is war", one of my top tier anime of all time, peak comedy imo. edit: misaka is #3 lvl 5, and enel vs luffy is a great example for this fight

I won't say one piece is the bet anime but manga maybe even though it culd be a light novel with much text though I mean for me favorite anime now is having part with the source. My favorite still is gintama but index is on top of my personal favorites as all of index concepts is something interest me and alot of them is what I want I was also thinking . dude I love index especially NT so far, I mean I didn't read OT and just anime only but I still love it it;s just NT got KNT and 3 main characters early on did something. I never thought much of my favorites but world trigger, adventures pokemon, bakuman is ome on top of my head I love also fate zero. I think Hunter hunter, one piece and FMA will end up below top 10 for me but definitel just outside my 10 personal favorites
